In the end, Hun Xiu chose to compromise.
Who could resist her? She was so cute, so young, and—most importantly—his "child bride." How could he not spoil her?
Who else would spoil her? Xiao Yan?
(TL/N: Yessur. Just let her ride you for now so that in the future, when you're riding her, tell her that it's a payback for riding you before.)
If Xiao Yan dared to even think about it, Hun Xiu would show him what true despair looked like.
And so, Hun Xiu and Gu Xun'er ended up playing a "childish" game called: riding a big small horse.
Who was the horse? Naturally, it was Hun Xiu.
Who was the rider? Naturally, it was Gu Xun'er.
This scene left Hun San, who was hiding in the shadows, utterly shocked.
"I never imagined Master Hun Xiu would stoop so low as to become a horse," Hun San thought, his heart overwhelmed with disbelief. "This is simply…"
Hun San felt as though tens of thousands of alpacas were stampeding over his heart. He had protected Hun Xiu for years. Apart from that one incident two years ago, where Hun Xiu made the little girl cry and became a horse to comfort her, Hun San had never seen him behave this way.
And now, two years later, in the same place and with the same two people—both of whom had grown so much—they were still playing the same childish game.

Far away, Gu Yuan and Hun Tian Di also noticed the pair playing on the mountaintop. Their reactions were starkly different.
Gu Yuan smiled as he watched his little girl ride on Hun Xiu's back. Amused, he murmured to himself, "At this age, he's already so devoted to his wife. What will it be like when he grows up? Hun Xiu is truly worthy of being my Xun'er's match."
In Gu Yuan's eyes, Hun Xiu's doting behavior toward Xun'er was proof of his future devotion to her.
In contrast, Hun Tian Di was furious. His narrowed eyes betrayed his anger, and if Gu Yuan hadn't been beside him, Hun Tian Di would have stormed over to kick Hun Xiu off the mountaintop.
This is too shameful.
Hun Tian Di, the mighty patriarch of the Hun Clan, found himself disgraced by his son's behavior.
"A man, lowering himself like this to entertain a little girl?" Hun Tian Di thought furiously. "Is this really my son?"
He had raised Hun Xiu to be upright, dignified, and adaptable—not to grovel before women!
"Did I make a mistake agreeing to this marriage? All for the sake of a single piece of the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor Jade... was it worth it? Or was it a grave error?"
Such thoughts gnawed at Hun Tian Di's mind.
Gu Yuan, however, was thoroughly enjoying the sight and couldn't resist teasing Hun Tian Di. "Your son is a fine match for my Xun'er. His devotion even at this young age proves he's the right choice."
Hun Tian Di: "..."
Hun Tian Di was too exasperated to respond.
At this moment, he truly regretted his decision. He regretted using Hun Xiu as a bargaining chip for the jade.
What was the result? His brilliant, talented son—the future leader of the Hun Clan—was reduced to a horse for a little girl to play.
Hun Tian Di could bear no more. With a snort, he turned and left. "Shut up," he thought. Any longer, and he might not be able to stop himself from intervening.
Gu Yuan chuckled as he watched Hun Tian Di leave. "This is too amusing," he thought. After a meaningful glance at the harmonious scene on the mountain, Gu Yuan followed Hun Tian Di, leaving the pair to their game.
Hun Xiu, unaware of his father's displeasure, continued playing with Gu Xun'er. Even if he had known, he wouldn't have cared.
To him, it was just a game. A game between two children.
"Why take it so seriously?" he thought.
Eventually, the two grew tired of playing and sat atop the mountain. Gu Xun'er nestled in Hun Xiu's arms as they gazed at the barren, yellow landscape.
Hun Xiu frowned slightly. "If only the back mountain were lush and green instead of this wasteland," he thought, regretting the destruction he'd caused.
"Why..."
The soft sigh from the little girl in his arms caught his attention. Her tiny face, usually full of mischief, now looked forlorn.
"What's wrong, Xun'er? What's troubling you?" Hun Xiu asked, gently pinching her soft, chubby cheeks.
Though her face was pinched, Gu Xun'er didn't pout. Instead, her expression turned even more somber.
She stood, barely tall enough to meet Hun Xiu's eye as he sat cross-legged. Placing her tiny hands on his handsome face, she whispered, "Brother Xiu'er, do you know? You'll never see a lovely girl like Xun'er again."
Her words carried a weight far beyond her years.
"Why not? Why can't I see you again?" Hun Xiu asked, his curiosity piqued.
Gu Xun'er glanced around, ensuring no one else was near. Then, leaning close to his ear, she whispered, "Brother Xiu'er, I'm going to be an undercover agent."
