Chapter 39: The Attack!

Yao Jing and Song Siqing's dinner at Haidilao stretched long into the night. By the time they left, it was already past 10 PM.

The two women took the elevator down to the underground parking lot.

"Wow, is this your new car? It's so flashy!" Song Siqing exclaimed as she stood in front of Yao Jing's new ride.

"I didn't think much of it at first, but now I see it really is quite beautiful," Yao Jing replied with a smile.

"How did he know you like pink?" Song Siqing asked curiously.

"I have no idea," Yao Jing shook her head, puzzled by how Wu Zhiming knew her favorite color. Pink was indeed her favorite, but she had never shown it at home. Her room had very few pink items.

"Every player is the best detective," Song Siqing remarked cynically.

"You really have a deep understanding of men," Yao Jing chuckled as she opened the car door and got in.

Song Siqing quickly joined her in the passenger seat.

Yao Jing pressed the start button and began to pull out of the parking space.

But as soon as she started moving, a black SUV suddenly sped towards them from the side. It came barreling down at an alarming speed, screeching to a halt right in front of Yao Jing's car.

Yao Jing slammed on the brakes, but the SUV was so close that it was impossible to avoid a collision. The front of her Bentley bumped into the SUV with a loud **thud**.

The Bentley came to a stop, and the SUV shook from the impact.

"What's with that car? How could it just come out of nowhere like that!" Song Siqing frowned, reaching for the door handle to step out and inspect the damage.

"Don't get out," Yao Jing warned.

"What?" Song Siqing looked at Yao Jing in confusion.

Yao Jing locked the doors and reached for her phone, dialing 110.

Meanwhile, a woman emerged from the SUV, storming over to Yao Jing's side of the car. She pounded on the window and yelled, "What kind of driving was that? Can't you see what you've done to my car? Get out and take a look!"

"I'll compensate you for the damage. I'm calling the police now, and they'll be here soon," Yao Jing responded calmly.

Upon hearing this, the woman's face twisted with anger. She tugged at the car door handle, and when it didn't budge, she reached into her waistband and pulled out a metal rod.

"Get out here and handle this!" the woman shouted. Then, she swung the rod forcefully against the window.

With a loud **crack**, the windowpane splintered but didn't shatter.

Simultaneously, three burly men jumped out of the SUV. Each of them wielded a metal rod as well. They began hammering at the car from all sides—one on the hood, trying to smash the windshield, and the other two attacking the passenger-side windows.

"I'm in the B1 section of the underground parking at XX mall. People are attacking my car, and I'm in danger. Please send help immediately!" Yao Jing reported to the emergency operator with a steady voice.

"Understood, officers are on their way," came the reply.

Yao Jing hung up the phone and assessed their surroundings.

The Bentley's windows, designed for high security, were holding up remarkably well. Despite being riddled with cracks, they hadn't shattered yet.

But the force of the attackers' blows was substantial. Each strike added new fractures to the glass, making it look like it could give way at any moment.

"Jing, who are these people? What's happening?!" Song Siqing cried out in fear.

"I don't know, but don't worry. The police will be here soon!" Yao Jing assured her, keeping a calm demeanor.

Just then, amidst the chaos...

### Chapter 39: The Attack!

With a loud **crash**, the passenger-side window finally gave way under the relentless pounding, leaving a small opening.

Seeing this, Song Siqing screamed in terror.

Yao Jing frowned and without hesitation, floored the gas pedal.

The Bentley surged forward, slamming into the SUV and pushing it aside. The powerful engine easily overpowered the SUV, shoving it back. The attackers frantically hammered on the windows, desperate to break through completely.

**Bam!**

The SUV crashed into the wall, coming to a sudden stop. Yao Jing quickly shifted into reverse, pulling back a few meters, and then switched to drive, yanking the steering wheel sharply towards the exit of the underground garage.

The thugs gave chase for a couple of steps but soon realized they couldn't keep up. They dashed back to their SUV, fired up the engine, and roared after Yao Jing.

The two vehicles sped out of the parking lot and into the night, the SUV close on the Bentley's tail.

In the shadows, Tan Lang moved swiftly, his eyes locked on the cars.

"Maybe I should wait until things get a bit more critical before stepping in. That might make more of an impact," he mused, keeping pace with the vehicles.

Suddenly, a figure dropped from above, landing squarely in his path.

"Huh?" Tan Lang stopped, scrutinizing the newcomer. It was a masked person, their features obscured but their presence unmistakably menacing.

"Looking to get killed?" Tan Lang asked, his voice devoid of emotion.

The masked figure didn't respond but stood their ground. Their intent was clear—they were there to stop Tan Lang.

Tan Lang didn't waste any more words. He dashed forward, his aura intensifying to its peak. His eyes narrowed to slits, and his fingers extended, their nails transforming into sharp, gleaming claws under the night sky.

The masked adversary responded with a swift, thunderous move, closing the gap between them in an instant.

**Bang! Bang! Bang!**

Tan Lang's claws slashed repeatedly, each strike aiming to tear through his opponent's defenses. But the masked figure's defense was surprisingly resilient, blocking every attack with skilled precision.

In mere seconds, Tan Lang had delivered hundreds of strikes, but not a single one broke through.

Within those few seconds, Tan Lang understood his opponent's goal: the masked figure was there to delay him, not to engage in a full-on battle.

Realizing this, Tan Lang's eyes flashed with a cold light. His pupils, round moments ago, transformed into thin slits, resembling those of a wolf.

In a heartbeat, his claws grew even longer, sharper, and deadlier.

"You're not human!" the masked person gasped, turning to flee.

But it was too late.

With a powerful leap, Tan Lang landed behind his opponent.

**Slash!**

Tan Lang's right hand swept through the air. The masked person's head flew off, their body crumpling to the ground as blood splattered.

Tan Lang landed, one hand on the ground to steady himself. Blood dripped from his extended claws.

"You're the one who's not human," Tan Lang muttered coldly, his voice icy with disdain.

But his victory was bittersweet. Tan Lang's expression changed as he realized he had lost sight of Yao Jing.

He quickly pulled out his phone and called Dong Jian.

### Chapter 39: The Attack!

"Mr. Dong, I... I've messed up," Tan Lang muttered into his phone as he watched the speeding cars vanish into the night.

On the road, two vehicles were racing at breakneck speed. Yao Jing wasn't a skilled driver, but the Bentley's superior performance, especially as a sports car, allowed her to keep the pursuing SUV at bay. The SUV driver was clearly more experienced, staying just a few dozen meters behind despite the performance gap between the cars.

"Jingjing, who are these people? Where are we going?" Song Siqing clung tightly to the car's handle, her voice trembling with fear.

"I don't know. I'm heading to the police station," Yao Jing replied, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.

"Jingjing, hurry! They're catching up!" Song Siqing glanced at the rearview mirror, panic rising in her voice.

**Bang!**

The SUV finally caught up, slamming into the back of the Bentley. The car jolted violently, but the Bentley's stability kept it from spinning out of control. Yao Jing gripped the steering wheel tightly and pressed the gas pedal harder.

The Bentley surged forward, widening the gap between it and the SUV. However, with the increase in speed, Yao Jing's control over the car became more tenuous.

**Crash! Crash! Crash!**

The Bentley scraped against several cars, swerving dangerously and nearly losing control multiple times.

"Why aren't we there yet? Jingjing, I'm scared!" Song Siqing shouted, her voice filled with desperation.

"Almost there!" Yao Jing replied, her eyes darting to the rearview mirror. What she saw made her pause in confusion.

The SUV had disappeared.

"Where did they go?" Yao Jing muttered, perplexed.

At that moment, blinding headlights flooded her vision from directly ahead.

"Look out!" Song Siqing screamed.

Yao Jing slammed on the brakes.

The screeching of tires echoed off the buildings as the Bentley skidded to a halt.

**Bang!**

The Bentley collided head-on with a construction truck. The airbags deployed instantly, enveloping Yao Jing and Song Siqing, protecting them from harm but trapping them inside the car.

The front of the Bentley crumpled severely, pinning Yao Jing inside and making it impossible for her to open the door.

On the passenger side, Song Siqing struggled to push open her door, finally managing to get it ajar.

"Siqing, run! Get the police!" Yao Jing shouted urgently.

Song Siqing stumbled out of the car but didn't flee. Instead, she ran to Yao Jing's side, grabbing the bent car door and pulling with all her strength. "Jingjing, don't worry! I'll get you out!"

"Siqing, run! There's no time!" Yao Jing urged, panic in her voice.

"I can't leave you here alone! I just can't!" Song Siqing cried, pulling harder, but the door was too damaged to budge.

Just then, the black SUV roared up, skidding to a stop next to the Bentley. The occupants, now masked, jumped out and moved quickly towards the Bentley.

"What are you doing? Stay back!" Song Siqing yelled, grabbing a piece of debris from the ground and holding it up defensively.

The masked men approached rapidly.

"I won't let you near her!" Song Siqing screamed and charged at them.

**Thwack!**

One of the men swung an iron rod, hitting Song Siqing and sending her sprawling to the ground.

Ignoring her, the masked attackers turned their attention to the Bentley, wrenching at the damaged car door.

"Stay away from Jingjing!" Song Siqing shouted through the pain, staggering to her feet and rushing at them again.

**Wham!**

Another blow landed, breaking her arm with a sickening crack. She screamed in agony, stumbling back but not giving up.

Her defiance enraged one of the attackers. He approached her, iron rod raised high, and began to beat her relentlessly. Song Siqing cried out, trying to dodge the blows, but she couldn't escape.

Meanwhile, the other masked men finally pried the Bentley's door open. One of them reached in, grabbing Yao Jing and dragging her out of the car.
