53 The Dark Abyss (1)

The path to the Misty Moon Woodlands was a rough one. It didn't help that a heavy rain had fallen at midday before the twilight, making it harder for Iris's group to cross the land. Misty Moon Woodlands wasn't far from Shayla, as it was located on the eastern side of the kingdom. If the dark elves managed to invade the woodlands, it wouldn't take long before they came knocking on the door of the land of the faeries.

Since Iris and her friends had never stepped out of the faerieland prior to this, it was Melissa who was assigned to lead the troop to the woodlands. The rain has quenched the soil, turning them from sandy hues to rich, strong browns, but it also effectively slowed down their horses as there were countless puddles filled with muddy water on the ground along the way.

Iris adjusted the hood of her cloak, her nose picking up the scent of pine trees from somewhere. It didn't take long before they spotted the woodlands where the elves resided.
