I miss her.

Miranda came back home and showered. Her hair was not fully dry yet. But her head started to feel heavy, so she lay on the bed and closed her eyes. She opened her eyes again and looked at the window, the sun was already setting outside. A streak of orange light seeped through the window, and it looked so beautiful.

Her whole body felt limp. She felt hot and itchy. She was sweating a lot because of her high temperature, making her clothes wet. She wanted to get up to change her clothes but felt dizzy when she sat up.

"Miranda, wake up!" someone patted her on the face. She seemed to hear someone speaking in a low voice around her and deliberately hushed footsteps. But she struggled to wake up.

Her entire body felt uncomfortably hot, so she moaned in a low voice. Right after that, she felt a cool presence around her as she seemed to be brought into a cool embrace. Someone gently patted her back and the tempo was so comforting that her tears fell uncontrollably.

"Richard, I'm going to give an injection" Henry gulped and waved the injection syringe that was filled with medicine in front of him. Seeing the way he hugs her preciously, it seems as though he will kill me off if I dare to hurt the woman in his arms.

After the needle poked into her skin, Richard's thin lips pressed into a hard line when Miranda stiffened in his arms.

A deadly atmosphere spread in the bedroom. Henry was so nervous that cold sweat had dampened his back entirely. After giving Miranda the shot and giving Richard some further instructions, Henry quickly packed his stuff and escaped from the apartment.

As soon as he got out of the apartment, he took out his phone and sent a picture he secretly took of the both of them into a group chat on Messenger that consisted of their friends.

'Our friend treasures his wife so much that he almost sentenced me to death when I was giving her an injection.'

Her eyes immediately flicked open as she forcefully and frightfully jerked up to sit on the bed, snapping her hand away from whoever was holding her, her breathing was quite fast.

"Miranda, Are you awake?" Miley placed her palm on her forehead.

"Mother...." Miranda's eyes were torn up.

"Your grandma is in a good place. Everything is alright" She pulled her into a hug.

Miranda cried as more tears rolled down her face. "Mother...I don't have anyone now."

Miley felt her heartbreak into a thousand pieces. "Why are you saying that? We are here all for you. We are our family now. Richard is half of you."

Miranda slowly averted her gaze to the tall man standing outside the door.

"Mother, She needs to eat," Richard said.

"Okay. Emily is preparing porridge for you. Eat and take rest." Miley said before she walked out of the room.

"I am not hungry," Miranda said.

"You're not skipping breakfast under my watch," He told her as he called Emily.

"I am not hungry," She said as she lay down.

"Okay," Richard sighed and scooped her into his arms. "Either you eat or I'll feed you. Which should it be?" He said before placing her on the couch.

"Richard, Why are you so demanding? I told you I don't want to eat" Miranda roared.

"Okay. Don't eat" He pulled her into his arms.

Finally, Miranda broke down and sobbed, "I miss my Grandma."

He held her tightly against himself, burying her head in his broad chest. While Miranda's grip on his shirt tightened more as she painfully shook her head. "I miss her...." she cried.

"Don't cry!" He did not know where these emotions came from, but he just did not want to see Miranda cry.

Grabbing her dress from the chair, she changed her clothes and stepped out of the bedroom. After she went downstairs, she saw a man sitting in the dining room.

"Sister." George first noticed Miranda and asked worriedly. "Are you feeling better?"

Miranda nodded. "How long have I been asleep?"

"A week."

Miranda was baffled, for she was not starving at all despite the long, deep sleep.

Very soon, Miranda finished her breakfast but she barely ate. She got up from her seat and went upstairs straight away. Richard, too, put down his fork and spoon. He trailed behind Miranda and walked into the bedroom.

"You can resume your work if you want," Richard said.

"I will resume from tomorrow." She replied.

Miranda tears up when she hears the footsteps disappearing from the room.

Miranda drank a cup of water as she stared blankly at the lawn in the yard from the window. She slightly jolted up when she heard her phone ring.

"Hello, Miranda" Nolan greeted.

"Dad..." Miranda said in a low tone.

"Miranda, I am confident you'll make us proud. Hudson Group's stock price started rising ten minutes ago. Richard bought a large number of our shares. That's a positive development." Nolan was so excited.

"Dad, Don't you have anything to say to me other than that?" Her teary eyes became ice-cold and resolute.

"Did something happen between you and Richard?"

Miranda let out an exasperated laugh and hung up the call.
