The waiter considered it seriously. If Gu Xi was indeed willing to say that this location was part of the Tamworth District, many people would be willing to help him complete this transaction.

So, the tavern's business was surprisingly good. It was evening, and many were already drinking outside.

Gu Xi even noticed some patrons secretly toasting the head under the bridge.

He didn't want more trouble in his last few days.

So, he confidently walked towards the tavern, pushing open the door, and flicked a shilling onto the bar.

"I need a place for the night. Got anything?"

"A third-class room is a shilling per night. Add ninepence for breakfast, and another shilling gets you a pretty girl who will sneak into your room at midnight and leave by dawn."

"Just a quiet room will do."

Glancing at the waitresses bustling around, Gu Xi decisively made his choice.

"Alright, your room is on the second floor, third door after you go up."

The bartender handed him a key without further persuasion.

Taking the key, Gu Xi asked, "Got any wine and jerky? If so, bring some up. I'll settle the bill later."

"Sure, I'll have it sent up shortly."

The bartender glanced around, then winked at Gu Xi with understanding.
