chapter Twenty-Nine-Lisa's School Refusal

Three days later, Lisa was discharged from the hospital, but she refused to go to school. Rachael couldn't figure out why and confronted her, saying, "Lisa, why don't you want to go to school? You've been acting strange, and I allowed you, but not today. You need to tell me what the problem is." Diego entered, greeting them both with a hug.

"Hello to the two favorite women in my life," he said. Turning to Lisa, he asked, "so, are you ready?" Lisa replied, "yes, I am."

Rachael, puzzled, asked, "wait a sec. What's going on?" Diego cryptically responded, "nothing much. Just take care of yourself for me," as they left. Rachael, now suspicious, wondered, "what's that for?" as she contemplated the situation while getting ready for work.

"There's something fishy, but how am I going to find out?" she asked herself.

********************************************************"Hi, Lisa," recca greeted her when they met in the shopping mall.

"Oh, Recca!" Lisa exclaimed happily, hugging her. "Let me introduce you two," Lisa said, turning to Diego.

"Diego, meet my best friend recca, and recca, this is Diego, Rachael's boyfriend, or you can say fiancé," Lisa introduced.

"Nice meeting you," recca said, smiling.

"And you too, why don't you two talk while I go inside to pick something up," Diego suggested.

"Are you sure you don't need my help?" Lisa asked.

"No, I don't. Just catch up with your friend," he said leaving.

"So, how have you been doing?" Lisa asked recca, smiling.

"I've been doing good. What about you?" recca inquired.

"As you can see, I'm happily good, if that's a word," Lisa replied, smiling.

"I can see that. What happened? I thought you said you would never like wealthy people?" recca asked.

"Well, everything changed. I've had a change of heart, and I've come to know that not all rich people are snobbish and disrespectful," Lisa explained.

"Oh, so what happened to "tell me your best friend everything that happens with you? You've started to keep secrets from me," recca pointed out as Lisa turned to her.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. We parked out, and Rachael is going to be getting married soon. But honestly, I don't think I have to tell you anything. I don't request things from you, so I don't think you should too," Lisa responded.

"I don't think you really know the real meaning of a best friend. Well, that's by the way. You're really lucky," recca commented.

"You can say that as well," Lisa replied.

 "I'm really jealous," recca confessed.

"You don't have to. You'll surely get yours," Lisa reassured her.

"Okay, then. I'll be going," recca said, leaving Lisa there.

When Lisa came in, Diego asked, "you're back?"

"Yes, I have. I think she left to do something," Lisa replied, noticing a red, long dress with revealing back and a slit. "Is it for Rachael?" Lisa gasped.

"Yep. Is it okay?" Diego asked.

"Are you kidding? Wow! Brother in-law, I didn't know you had an eye for women's stuff," Lisa teased.

"I need to take care of my woman, so I need to know," Diego explained as Lisa hailed him, and the attendant packed the dress and shoes. They also bought many other things.

"Let's go," Diego said, holding her hand as they left.
