chapter thirty- Diego Family Struggles

Diego returned with a smile on his face, meeting his father and brother in the sitting room.

"Why are you smiling like you just received your face kiss from your crush?" Inigo teased.

"Idiot," Diego replied as Inigo laughed.

"You seem happy, son. Is there anything you want to say?" Simeon asked his eldest son.

"Nothing. Actually, tomorrow is a special day for me," Diego said.

"Why? It's not like anything is happening tomorrow, and I remember it's not your birthday," Inigo remarked.

"Tomorrow is going to be special when the day comes," Diego explained.

"I don't have anything to say, but whatever you're doing tomorrow shouldn't bring down my name," Simeon warned.

"Yes, dad. It certainly won't," Diego assured.

"Money, power, and game. That's the only thing you care about," Inigo commented. "Even if it does, are you going to kill him? I can't even remember the last time we all went on a family get-together," he added.

"What you're meant to be asking is if you are usually around. You're always with your group of bad friends," Diego responded.

"And there's never going to be a get-together when Allison isn't here. If you want a family get-together, then bring my wife back," Simeon said as he went up the stairs to his room.

"Now I know why dad has always been cold towards us and never comes down. He's still hasn't gotten over the shock of mum's death," Diego reflected as Inigo stood up, leaving the house. "And I'm left alone again," Diego muttered, going to his room.

********************************************************"You should have seen her face. I knew she would be jealous," Lisa said while talking to Diego on the phone as Rachael passed by.

"She just passed. I'm sure she liked the present. Remember, I love you so much. Rachael must not know what's going on between us, and after the wedding, we would run away as planned. I love you. Good night," Lisa continued before hanging up.

Rachael, who overheard the conversation, began to cry. She couldn't believe her sister could betray her like this but had to play along. She entered Lisa's room and asked, "are you asleep?"

"No, but I'm about to go to sleep now," Lisa replied, hugging her sister. "Good night, sis," Lisa added, pecking her sister while Rachael just nodded, leaving with a heavy heart.
