Declan nodded. “He’s a good man.” Then his lips descended upon mine in a not-so-chaste kiss. “Henley, I’m sorry for today. Isabel—”

“Doesn’t know what she lost,” I finished. “But she’d better stay away from you... if she knows what’s good for her.”

Declan slipped his arms around my waist. “Ooo! My little bad*ss!”

I burst out laughing, motioning with my head toward the door. “Let’s go. Mom and Maxwell are going to start wondering where we are.”

When we walked inside, the servers had set up a massive table in the center of the room. Lady Katherine smiled when she saw us and wiggled her fingers. As we headed toward the table, I realized what a lucky woman I truly was.

“Lady Katherine! It’s so good to see you again!” I pulled her in for a hug when she rose to her feet. “Have you met everyone?”

“Yes, my dear.” She gave me a warm smile. “Maxwell introduced me to everyone. It’s good to see Maxwell again.” She arched an eyebrow, looking over at him. “It’s been a long time.”
