Declan
I felt as tired as he looked as I ascended the stairs, knowing that Henley and I had much to discuss.
When I entered our bedroom, she was asleep, looking like an angel with her red hair fanned over the pillow. I loosened my tie, hung it up, and put away my shoes. But instead of undressing and sliding into bed with her, I sat on the chair and watched her sleep.
Could she be in love with Gerard and have been in denial? Would she leave me, now that she knew? I took a deep breath, realizing how selfish that sounded, but I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t allow myself to fall in love with her, and then she leaves. So, instead of climbing into our bed, I walked out and closed the door behind me. Then I walked into Trent's old bedroom. It was as good a place as any to stay until we sorted all this out but now wasn’t the time. She needed her sleep, and so did I. But I needed answers. And when I woke, I was going to get them.
