Chapter 17

I locked the market after realising that Easton wasn't returning anytime soon, after all it had been five hours of waiting and with no sign of him I decided to lock the market.

Standing outside as I put my hands in my pants I couldn't help but notice the stars, different from the starless city.

I also noticed a white truck coming my way and literally stopping right in front of me. The window opened and I was met with the eyes of boss Dai. She sent me a smile before telling me to get inside.

"I apologize for only coming now, I hadn't known until I arrived home" she sent me a sympathetic smile as I made my way to the other side of the truck

Opening it I replied"It's no problem..." my voice trailed off as my eyes made contact with Easton who looked more than annoyed. My lips twitched as I entered the truck ,quickly due to the cold wind.

"Tell me where you live it's the least I can do" Boss Dai said as she started the truck closing the window once more.

"Thank you boss Dai..." I said as I told her where I lived.

I didn't bother to talk to Easton who looked like he would bust at any moment if I opened my lips. My eyes looked in front and they caught some moving figures.

Squinting my eyes I tried to look closer and what I saw made the blood drain from my face.

"Boss Dai stop the truck!" I exclaimed not even waiting for her to fully stop before I rushed forward , I felt steps behind me but I didn't bother to pay attention to them.

"This punk where's my money I told you to bring it today" said the rough voice of one of the three guys beating up the person on the ground who was most likely unconscious based on his unmoving figure.

"Do you want to kill him" I exclaimed as I kicked one of the guys of the boy. Their attention was now fully on me.

This guy's all looked older but based on their uniform I could tell that they were still in highschool.

"Hey, who the hell do you think you are" the shorter one of the three said as his face twisted.

"Someone who could hand you over to the authorities harmed if you don't live this boy alone" I gritted out. Glancing at all three I realised that the tallest one with a marhawk was the leader the second tallest was holding a long bat and the shorter one had gold rings all over his fingers probably used in fights.

I could beat this guy's easy considering how many openings they had.

"Look at this kid, harm us hahaha what a fucking joke" the leader said as he began making his way to me his lackeys following along.

And before they could do anything lights were shone on us. I turned to see boss Dai's truck and Easton behind me rubbing his nose in annoyance.

"All I wanted to do was go home and sleep but no..." he murmured.

Quickly regaining my focus I took out my phone and began making a call.

"Oy what you doing with that phone" the shorter one said having regained his focus which forced the others to turn to me.

Turning my phone to show them that the call had been answered I turned it back to my ears "Officers I caught a few boys attempting to murder a fellow student..." before I could finish the three boys looked at each other before running away.

I watched as they ran away "Cardan what happened " being brought back to the call I replied.

"Nothing much Zaden just that a few guys needed a little scare" I said before hanging up.

By now Easton had already carried the unconscious still bleeding boy inside the truck.

Arriving at the hospital the boy was quickly led to the emergency room. Watching as boss Dai made a few calls I took a seat on one of the lilac blue seats in the hospital. Easton had already gone to wash the blood off him.

"Cardan" Boss Dai called as she stood in front of me stress lines apparent on her face. A sense of guilt filled me at her appearance.

"Boss Dai..." I replied.

"Sigh, don't ever do that again who knows what could have happened if me and Easton weren't with you. I wonder if I had come late if you would have been in the same state as that boy" she said a sense of grief taking over her face.

"It didn't happen since you were there miss Dai. And the boy's parents" I said changing the question as I glanced towards where she was just a few minutes ago.

"They are on their way, they seemed very worried too" she explained a look of pity appearing on her face as she recalled the call she had with the parents. At least they seemed to care for their child.

Nodding I worried look took over my face once I realised what would have happened if I hadn't come.

...What a day.
