Brainwash

1st PoV

Though Iris is speaking normally, I can hear her voice cracking as if she is hiding something sorrowful.

As everyone has secrets, I didn't ask her about it. I then said, "No wonder, I tried to use other magic but it didn't work. You should get some rest. You have bags under your eyes".

Iris yawned as she said "Yeah, you are right. Thank you for carrying me to the room."

I said welcome as she walked to her room and slept.

Iris's PoV 

I found myself in a place. I looked around and I saw familiar objects which all related to floating around. I figured this was the mindscape.

I explored the place curiously as I saw a library, a bit far away. I walked towards it and I touched one of the shelves.

Suddenly I got frozen as I watched a memory.

Flashback (when Iris was 7 years old)

I woke up as usual, got ready and walked to school. It was a two-minute walk from my house.

I met up with friends, chatted and soon the class started. The day went by as it was soon afternoon. After the 7th period was over, soon the last one started. It was a simple lesson and I knew what the story was about. I got bored and looked outside.

As I was looking back, I suddenly felt a pain in my head. It felt like I was hit on the head with a truck. 

The pain was so painful that I could even scream and passed out. When I woke up I could hear 2 voices saying "She is talented. She unlocked mana not being in Utopia nor by eating the crystal."

"She is a diamond in the rough".

How do we make her go to Utopia?" "How about we brainwash her and her parents and make her believe that she came from an orphanage and we adopted her? Since she is talented, she might become a good mage and give a share of her money." "I agree." 

"Mind Magic Memory Change".

Flashback change 

I was now in the King's office as the King was addressing my "parents". He was talking about how it was nice of them to adopt a child and some other things. After hearing this I calmed down as I didn't want him to betray me. I just sat there and waited for their talk to finish.

When I was at home both of them started beating me as they said "Ah, finally I can vent some anger. It is hard to keep up with good-goody acts". "Yeah, so like usual no lasting injuries and killing. After finishing I heal her while you wipe her memories".

"Yeah, yeah. I know that. I am starting anyways".

Flashback ends

I froze as I was relieved at that moment. Everything I knew was a lie. I don't even know if my real parents are alright. The people who adopt.. kidnap me may have already killed them. I remembered every beating they had done to me at that time. I felt empty. I felt like I was not worth anything with the way my "parents" are taking care of me. I was tired. I was tired of life. I just want to sit somewhere and wait until I die. 

So I just stayed there for a while. Soon recent memories started flowing into my mind as I remembered the new friends I had Lily, Noah and Axel.

I stood up as I remembered that I have them. I remembered that I have people who would lend a shoulder to me if I was in trouble. Feeling a huge weight go from my back, I relaxed. I then explored the place and I saw two crystals A blue one and a yellow one. Both of them were glowing as they were brimming with energy. The blue one also had sparks of blue flame coming out of it. As I was looking at it, I was thrown out of this place as I found myself in the real world.

I was laying down on the bed. It clicked into my mind as I remembered that only Axel is currently in my house. I connected the dots and figured he put me in the bed.

I went to check on him and saw him sleeping in the other room. 

Seeing this I didn't disturb him and went to the kitchen and made a cup of coffee. I sipped my coffee as I thought about what I should do. I was tired because of the whole process. Soon I heard the King's announcement about magic. As I only used spatial magic and wind Magic as additional magic, I wasn't affected much. Soon Axel woke up.

Axel's PoV

1st PoV

I went outside and I saw everyone in chaos. Everyone was confused as they lost their magic and didn't know who to blame. The King controlled the situation efficiently as he told the story about the Undead King and congratulated us for informing him.

I hated him because of him those memories came. The memories about how my parents died. I remembered that guy's face. The face I wished I forgot. Oscar Sorel's face.

I did breathing exercises to calm down and went to the backyard to do some exercises. I did them. Then I practised the katas of karate. I blocked the punch of my imaginary enemy using a down block and punched him. Turning around I blocked the enemy. The imaginary enemy caught my hand and I countered by hammer-hitting the enemy and punching him. I then went to my right and blocked three times using the upper block and punched the imaginary opponent. 

I did the rest of the kata and rested. I then wrote a note to Iris and went to my house. I had a shower and made an enormous dinner. I ate it as I skipped lunch and went to sleep satisfied.
