Escaping Insanity

Don sneered, he noticed the three elite demons still haven't left their posts, he stroke his chin again, thinking deeply, currently there was nothing he could do but just to observe. He then heard an ear shattering noise, like something sharp were grating upon the concrete. Then two demons came into view on the edge of the rooftops coming from below, they stepped upon the precipice.

"Damn it, was I seen?" Don said.

The demons cackled with their sharp claws, they were lean, violet skinned, and their tongues naturally rolled out from their mouths. "This one is a mage, let's capture him brother." One said.

Don took a throwing knife underneath his robe, "Bolt Swap!" His knife glowed in yellow, then he hurled it and it landed beside the demon's foot.

The demon gazed at it, while taking it lightly they scoffed and laughed. "What is that supposed to do?"

Don grunted mocking their stupidity. "Swap!" He said.

In a sudden, the knife and Don switched positions in an instant, he then teleported a considerable gap, it was his ability to swap location with his throwing knife in an instant.

Don emerged close to the demons, they got startled and Don pushed them, they both staggered from the roof border, they fell and plummetted to the ground. Don gave a weak smile. "Fools." He then jogged away, and took his throwing knife. It would be best to change spots since the demons could have been alerted.

Radmun and Reston were now infront of the presence of the scarfed demon. They readied their stances as they were about to take on against the elite demon.

Radmun grinned. "Reston, I leave the rest to you, I'll handle this bastard." He nocked his bow with a flaming arrow.

Reston nodded silently, he faced the alleyway and were about to leave.

The scarfed demon grunted. "I won't let you!" The demon's arms quickly elongated nonstop into several meters, his fingers were blades that gleamed coldly, and was heading straight towards Reston as though to stab him.

"Fiery Arrow!" Radmun casted.

He fired his arrow towards the long arm, it struck the arm and split it into two, the detached arm fell unto the street. The demon groaned, his arm shrunk and turned to its normal length, but now it got severed.

"I might enjoy this fight." Radmun grinned.

Reston quickly dipped into the alleyway and vanished.

"I'll wipe that smug off your face!" The demon blurted.

Slowly the demon's severed arm regenerated, at some point his fingers came into form and his missing arm finally returned.

"What a troublesome opponent." Radmun said.

He nocked his flaming arrows again and aimed it upon the creature. "Fiery Arrow!" He casted, then shot out an arrow, while on mid air it splitted up onto three and struck the demon. One struck his gut, the other close to his groin, and the last one on his neck.

Upon seeing the demon writhed in pain, Radmun smiled.

"Is that it?" Rasmun said.

The demon spat blood, but he didn't falter, he yanked each arrow from his body, like they were nothing. The wounds inflicted upon him were slowly closing in, as flesh were forming upon the holes on his body.

"It takes more than that to kill me." The demon said.

Radmun chuckled as he maintained his confidence. "Sure, otherwise it wouldn't be fun."

The demon threw his arm and it stretched out towards Radmun's spot, like a lurching snake.

Radmun winced, he then leaped sidewards barely evading the incoming arm. The elongated arm then landed on the ground behind Radmun and it gripped tightly, then the demon pulled himself via his arm towards Radmun.

Radmun sneered, "Guard Up!" He said, then a thin barrier got conjured infront of him, the incoming demon smacked Radmun's chest, the barrier took some of the hit, regardless, it sent him flying.

The demon snorted. "What's the matter? Is that all you can do after all that talk?"

Radmun's back slammed upon the wall, he spat out some saliva after the impact, luckily, he managed to cast a guarding spell, otherwise, right now there could have been a hole on his chest. Nonetheless, it was still painful. The wall behind him cracked and left a depression.

He readied his bow and fired repeatedly towards the demon. The demon dodged some attacks but one or two chucked its body.

Seeing it was for naught, Radmun quickly fleed from the demon's sight. He entered the alleyways and went deeper. After some moment, he rested upon a wall, then sharpened his senses. "Shit, I can't fight it if I can't kill it."

In a sudden the wall on where he leaned shattered, a leg came out of it and kicked him on his back. Radmun rolled away then after getting back on his knees, he fired a flaming arrow, it hit the demon's head, piercing through it, however it didn't seem to bother him. "You're weak." The demon said.

Radmun grinned. "Well look closely, Burst Shot!"He said.

The arrow on the demon's head spread out its flames and the demon was engulfed furious fire. Radmun was pleased seeing the demon screeched in pain.

Radmun's smug quickly turned to scowl when the demon was shedding its skin, like he was breaking, the burning portion of his skin sloughed off from his body. Afterwards it left the demon with no flames and was unharmed. Its scarf was burnt and it revealed his mouth agaped, showing his tall pairs of teeth that resembled a needles.

"Hey, you gotta be kidding me." Radmun said disappointedly.

After the demon has shedded completely. He snorted as though more enraged. "Human, you fool, I can control every part of my body from my nerve endings, skin, muscles all the way to my bones. You have no chance against me!"

Reston dashed through the field and sliced the demons he came across, he furtively approached the town hall without alerting as much demons as possible. There was crowd of them but due to the noise they have been creating, luckily, he wasn't noticed yet. He moved around the crowd as swift as he can, only one or two often took a notice of him which he quickly cut down.

At some point the lanky demon with a scythe took notice of him and the blind demon as well.

Reston grinned, he then trailed away, the two elite demons excitedly pursued him.

Reston stared over his shoulder staring at the two lured demons, surely there were suppose to be three of them. "Now where is the other one?"

The congregation of demons on the area turned their attention to Reston. The swarm were slowly approaching him as though about to engulf him.

"Guys, we'll handle this, everyone of you guard the barrier!" Said the demon with a scythe to his goons.

The demons seemed to have complied as they turned their attention away from Reston.

Reston smiled as the situation favored him, then he scanned the environment when he lost his sight on the blind demon. He was just on the distance a while ago, when he sunk his eyes, a sword's tip emerged from the ground, it was thrusting upwards heading to his chin, he quickly moved away.

Upon inspecting what happened, a blind demon appeared from the dirt.

"Hahaha that was close." The blind demon cackled.

No doubt it was one of their abilities, the demon was able to move through the ground like it was a liquid.

He then prepared himself.

Reston heard footsteps behind him, then a scythe got swung into his side, he lifted his blade and blocked the attack.

"This old man is perceptive." The scythed demon said.

Reston leaped away to create some gap between them, he never took his eyes away from the two demons. "You elite ones have troublesome abilities." Reston said.

Then the blind demon sunk unto the ground as though he dove unto the waters, vanishing completely, the scythed demon charged towards him. He readied his blade and firmed his stance when the demon approached him, the demon was swinging upon him and thus they clashed blades. "Hey old man, what's your name?" The demon said.

Reston ignored him and focused on blocking the attacks instead, he never took his attention on the ground as well. He parried the blows as he moved backwards, however he wasn't losing, he was just holding. Reston widened his eyes, then he jumped away when the tip of the blade have resurfaced on where he once stood.

Then the blade retreated below into the liquified ground.

Once Reston landed he strode quickly into the inner town. "The blind demon is annoying." He said.

Don leaped through the roofs, then once he reached the other building he lowered his head, he didn't like to make the same mistake again. Upon gazing at the townhall it was now only guarded by one elite demon, he sighed after the realization that plans always hit reality differently. Supposed to be they should lure all four.

Don scratched his head as he frowned. "Damn it, what are they doing?"

Blue found himself petrified from some spell, he couldn't lift a muscle or even blink, only his eyes were free. The demon cackled as it came close to him. "You, are not human." He said.

The demon assessed Blue as he stared upon his pale, lifeless face. "Are you even alive?" The demon said.

Underneath Blue's frozen face was his rage boiling, it was frustrating that he couldn't even make an expression or lift his lips. "I'll turn you to shreds!" Blue roared in his mind.

The demon revolved around his body, appraising him. He curiously stared at Blue's folded wings on his back, it was covered by Blue's black hair, which the demon lifted up to inspect it close. "I never realized vampires exist, well this is a revelation." The demon said.

The demon then stabbed Blue on the back, Blue silently groaned and he could feel the pain, normally it wouldn't bother him but the demon repeatedly thrusted his blade unto his body. The pain pulsated through his body, slowly turning his eyes into blur. "Damn it, the pain is driving me insane." He said.

The demon laughed menacingly as he pierced Blue's flesh nonstop for half an hour, blood were pouring down unto the floor, but at the same time his wound were being healed. "Interesting you wouldn't die eh?" The demon teased.

Blue sneered, it was true he was immortal but after being inflicted with continuous pain it can mess up his psyche, which could drive him insane. He would need to consume human blood to retain his sanity. And now his eyes were slowly shifting to blur, his crave for blood got shot up, he had to focus since he was losing his grip. "Damn it!" He hissed on his mind.

His blood slowly spread out on the floor, flooding the ground in dark red. At some point the demon ceased, and it gave Blue some time to breath.

"I got bored, I guess I'll just eat you." The demon snickered and it revealed his several tiny, sharp teeth. " I wonder what vampires, taste like, he he he."

He snapped his jaws open then clamped his teeth upon Blue's shoulder. The demon then yanked his flesh off then gnawed upon it, the demon swallowed it with a smile. Afterwards the demon's cheeks puffed as though he got grossed out, he then quickly vomited. "What the hell is that? It tasted like a spicy camel dung."

When the demon turned his attention to Blue, he got startled. Blue's eyes were raging in blue flames, his body were being engulfed with it as well and the demon knew he was pissed. In a sudden, blue flames bursted outwards from Blue's body, the pressure pushed the dagger beside his foot to fly away.

Blue was now able to move, now he clenched his fist, and in a sudden, dash close to the demon. Blue gripped the demon's face tightly, and the demon mumbled on his palm. Blue sneered in rage and blue flames emerged from his arm, the fire swallowed the demon completely, then it fiercely swirled around his body until he got turned to dust, the dust broke apart and it danced on the air.

Anger took over Blue that he killed the demon instantly when he got the chance.

Blue fell on his knees and was losing his mind. "I need human blood!" He screamed.

The librarian stood still while the others were preparing for their departure.

"Nari, we need to leave now." One woman packing her bags said.

She shook her head. "It seems, I can't leave this library, I was here since I was a child."

When they left, she then went towards the noise inside the library. There was a misty dust, floating around the place, it reeked of death and anguish, the piercing chill writhed her stomache urging her to throw up.

Upon stumbling a pool of blood she got horrified. "What happened here?"

She saw Blue sprawling on the floor, whose glare were fixated upon her, Blue revealed his fangs like a starving wolf and then he lurches towards her.

"Help!" She hollered.

The woman quickly scampered away to flee from him, but it was useless, Blue's fangs was already upon her neck. He sucked her blood and the woman cried in pain, she then sagged down only to be held by Blue's jaws.
