"Ronan?!"

A handsome male stood in front of her, looking nervous and fidgeting his hands.

"Ayvi, sis…"

Ayvanna looked at his long bronze locks - same color as hers - then looked into his grayish-blue eyes.

Ronan inherited his eye color from thee paternal side while Ayvanna got her jade green ones from their mom. They only saw their parents once, and that was in a photo taken before they were born.

They lived most of their lives in the orphanage before being sold to the head maid - Temmin.

Temmin had this unbridled belief that whoever she bought as slaves and brought them into the palace, were her possessions and were forever indebted to her.

At their early stages in the castle, Ayvanna and Ronan refused this opinion, but every other servant below Temmin I the castle knew this as a fact. The siblings always stood up for each other against Temmin's bullying, and were so vlose not even her could separate.

Other servants saw the children's bravery and wanted to rebel too. Temmin saw the two of them as a threat. So she went and told the royals that there were too many male servants and less guards. So Ronan was then brought as a guard and taken to a different side of the palace. Without her brother there to encourage her, Ayvanna slowly let Temmin bully her again, and she and her brother grew ever distant. He was always so busy training and guarding, and slept in a different side of the castle, so they rarely saw each other.

'Then what's he doing here?' Avyanna asked herself.

"Umm, Ronan?"

"Yeah?" He looked up, hope and fear filling his eyes.

"I know…"

She knows? She knows! I knew I should have told her! I should have taken time out and explained! Ugh! What is she going to be thinking? Her brother dumped her and-

"RONAN!"

He shook his head and woke up from his thoughts.

She looked at him with concern in her eyes, "You drifted off. You know, you don't have to-"

He tensed then looked at her and grabbed her shoulder, "No, I should have told you! I'm a bad big brother! I'm sorry I-"
