Blooming Royal

She turned to him and smiled. "I've always loved cherry blossoms." She caught a petal in her hand and blew it into the breeze. "Why?" He looked at her quizzically. She tilted her head and stared at the flowering trees. "I don't know." She bent her head sadly, "I guess, I guess it resonates with me." She touched he bark of the tree. "Cherry blossoms take years to grow. Some may plant them, wait a few years and give up. But those who wait, receive the best, because when they bloom, its magical. Ayvanna had to show this to the queen, for the ball, where all the princesses' suitors will be picked. And the queen would have her executed for a dress that wasn't one of the queen's favorite colors.

Dead, is the modern term - and the easiest term - of what you would describe Ayvanna.

**********

A knock on the door silenced all of Ayvanna's thoughts. Ayvanna ran to the door to open it while Saranna was busying herself with her night makeup.

Outside there was a guard, who had a message in three words, which was obviously relayed by the queen-

'Do. Not. Delay.'

Ok, I can do this. Deep breath, in and out. In…and out.

Ayvanna quickly ran to the princess,

"Your majesty, Miss Saranna, we must not be late–"

"Leave me be maid!" Saranna turned her head from her golden mirror stand, her eyes narrowed, "If I cannot do my make up in peace, how will I ever be ready for the prince! There are more than a hundred female nobles withering for his hand," She stood up from the futon, standing in front of Ayvanna, her cheeks bobbing. "I must become a queen, Ayvanna," her eyes filled with insanity, "I MUST! MUST!!"

The short, enraged young lady jumped up and down, her night dress going up and down with her, and her make up trailing down her face like a mad woman. Her small crown flew off her head, and before it was able to break, Ayvanna's swift hands caught them. At last she collapsed in a heap breathing heavily, and with her mad eyes, looked at Ayvanna, who flinched in turn,

"See," she chuckled darkly, "You cant even do your job, maid…" She stood up and reached for the maid's hands. Ayvanna tried to pull back, but Saranna was too quick. Ayvanna's hands ached in Saranna's, who was holding it tightly and not about to let go.

The princess then pulled Ayvanna closer to her,

"You were supposed to catch me," she giggled, "but you didn't…"

They were so close their noses almost touched and Ayvanna could now see the madness clearly in her eyes.

What will Ayva do?
