Taehyung was about to protest and say it was an outlier theory gone too far when he realised that it did provide an explanation for some mysteries.
"If there are really vampires in this world it would explain why Bang Si Hyuk hasn't aged and why he survives so many assassination attempts."
He saw Jimin and RM stare at him in confusion and he remembered they didn't know anything about vampires besides their desire for blood.
"Vampires are supposed to be immortal," he explained.
RM pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a loud sigh.
"I think that this vampire thing is a very out there idea, but… it does make more sense that it seems at first."
"Why isn't Type O blood needed?" Jimin asked. "It's the universal donor blood. Why is it the least desired in this world?"
"I think this has ceased to be just about blood donation," RM said. "They don't need three out of the likely 5 blood types and are slowly phasing them out. There's a reason why it's getting harder to get food supplies at the market. It's likely to be the same outside the city as well."
Taehyung asked the sensible question.
"Why did they even bother separating us into districts if they didn't need O, B and A? Why not let you all die?"
RM sat down on his bed next to Jimin and Taehyung followed suit. RM cleared his throat and started explaining.
"The three lower blood types make a larger percent of the population compared to your blood type. If at the beginning, we all banded together in protest and fought, we could have overthrown them or decimated a lot of them. Now, there's a shrinking number of us and it's not possible to do that. It's planned."
"What can we do next?" Jimin asked.
RM looked very tired and Taehyung knew he had a lot of responsibility to deal with as their leader. He never looked like he had a full night of sleep.
"I'll speak to the main resistance. We don't have the records to back it up yet, but they will have to go on my word and what everyone can observe."
Knowing what the main resistance team was like, Taehyung could predict what they would say.
"You mean they will just move ahead with another Bang Si Hyuk assassination attempt?"
"That's probably correct," RM said sagely. "They're not progressive with their ideas."
"Do you still need to obtain the records for the births and matches?" Taehyung asked.
RM didn't look happy with the question.
"V, I don't want you in danger over this. I know we call ourselves the Bulletproof Boy Scouts, but we aren't invincible. Yes, we do need some evidence to back our claims up especially if the resistance choose to go public with this. Right now, however, the risk isn't worth the pay off."
Taehyung understood him perfectly. It was his desire to help out those worse off than him was pushing him to want to do anything for RM.
"Where would those records be?"
"There might be something we could use on the hospital database…" RM paused. "We need a central list for every birth in every hospital and household in this city and the rest of the world. That wouldn't be something your stepfather would have access to."
RM undeniably had a point there and he was disappointed that he couldn't help. There had to be something he could do.
"The only place that would have that would be the government offices?" Jimin guessed.
"It's most likely," RM agreed. "If we had access to the government facilities, we wouldn't be planning a rebellion- it would have already been done."
Taehyung knew he wouldn't be able to help out then. The government offices in a very secure location away from public access in the AB district even though he was a Type AB, he wouldn't be able to get anywhere near it.
"Sorry, I can't get you in there," he said morosely.
RM patted his back comfortingly.
"V, don't berate yourself," he said. "I know you do your best for us and there's a limit on what you can do."
Jimin perked up suddenly.
"Doesn't your school go on trips to places like that? My class got a trip to the main hospital in this district a few years back."
"There's a difference between a hospital and the headquarters of the government," RM pointed out.
Their leader had a good point, but Taehyung remembered something. There had been a special school trip mentioned at the start of the year for the top five students in his year group to visit the government offices. He had dismissed it immediately as he wasn't even ranked in the top 75 best performing students. Now it had come to the forefront of his mind.
He cleared his throat.
"Um, Jimin is actually correct. There is a school trip to the government offices available for the five highest ranking students in the end of year exams."
Jimin gasped in excitement and RM nodded in satisfaction.
"This is an opportunity. How are your exam scores?" he asked in an encouraging tone.
"...Terrible," Taehyung admitted with his gaze fixed firmly on the floor so he wouldn't have to see the disappointment on their faces.
RM placed his hand gently on Taehyung's shoulder and he managed to look up into his leader's eyes.
"V, we need this for the sake of the resistance. Are you willing to work hard to get into the top five?"
"Of course I am!" Taehyung replied hotly. "I would do anything."
As soon as he said it he felt extremely conflicted. He wasn't a naturally academic student, he was average. He would never get there.
"That's the right attitude," RM complimented him. "We're going to have to help you study. When is this trip?"
"I think it's a month and half away," he said unsurely. "The exams are next month."
As he spoke his mind was going over the practicalities. He knew RM was intelligent, but was he book intelligent? Type As only attended school until 16.
"We have some time then," RM said and retrieved his notebook from the bedside table.
Jimin pulled Taehyung into a hug.
"We've got your back!"
"Thanks," Taehyung replied, his voice muffled by Jimin's chest. "...You do know this is going to be a challenge for me?"
RM put down his notebook and did something he had never done before. He put his arms around Taehyung and Jimin and hugged them.
"We're all here for you. You are going to get into the top five. You have to..."
Hello,
The BTS contest entry period has ended and I wish to congratulate everyone that won a prize. I will be continuing this story for the time being despite not winning as I really just wanted to expand my writing skills and write something different.
