Helping out

"Huh? You want me to do what?" It was Hiyori that asked this question back at Jin.

"Well, just like I said. I ask if you could help us out and train us in Hakuda." Jin was the one asking and so he repeated the question once more.

That was actually about the first thing he and the twins did after Jin was let out of detention. Jin came over to the 12th Division and searched for lieutenant Sarugaki to ask her to train them in their free time.

But by the looks of it, she was not really happy about it.

"Why should I help you brats train? You know the academy already is a good enough place for doing that. And I have a lot of stuff to do myself. Being a lieutenant is no small matter, you know?"

"I am not saying that the academy is a bad place to train but we really need to catch up to all those people in our class. They all seem to have a slight headstart and we are not doing so well as you may know already." Jin meant the little brawl he had with that noble bastard.

"And didn't you want us to respect you? With that, you would earn our respect and you could even demand us calling you Hiyori-sensei. How about it?"

Hiyori didn't say anything immediately and thought about his words. Somehow they seemed to have hit her soft spot. And shortly after she just harumphed proudly.

"You really want to get me to teach you that desperately, huh? Fine then. I will take some time to teach you. But don't think I will take it easy on you. And you better remember this favor."

Jin grinned and clasped his hands together and held them in front of his face. "Thanks."

Hiyori saw this and noticed something that she wasn't paying much attention to before. This kid actually had a handsome face and coupled with his smile that he showed right now it was even more attractive.

So much that Hiyori blushed a little. But she immediately regained her senses and shook her head. What was she thinking? When she wandered with her gaze on his body she also landed on his weapons.

"Hmm, come to think. Why do you have so many Asauchi?"

"Ah, right. Hiyori, you don't know it yet. It looks like these are my Zanpakuto. I ended up with four of them apparently." Jin pointed at his weapons that he had strapped around his waist with a dark red obi.

Hiyori was surprised that this kid had four blades and looked at them for a while. Then she sighed and became angry once again because she did also notice him using her first name again. And without honorifics as always.

"You better start using sensei behind my name from now on or you will receive a beating from me that will be a lot worse than the one you got from that other guy! You hear me?" She hit him softly on the head with her fist and then looked at his weapons once more.

"I must say your combination is very weird. I mean a Katana and three Tantō?"

Jin just scratched the back of his head. "Cant really figure it out myself. I just found them like this when I got them back after my detention was over. They were still normal length katana prior to that."

Jin was genuinely confused about why his weapons ended up like this. But after thinking it over he accepted it and just thought that it was somewhat better that one of his Asauchi now seemed to be the main weapon and the others more of sidearms.

And since Tantō are only 15cm in length it was easier to carry them around. They could even be concealed in modern clothing if he ever had to do that. Daggers were the perfect weapon for assassins after all.

Now each blade also had its distinctive look and the could be easily recognized. One was as white as snow, the other as black as the night and the last as crimson as blood.

Jin just named them Shiro, Kuro, and Aka respectively. Not that these Asauchi would tell their names anytime soon. So he did a very lazy move and named them straight after their colors. Aka actually may even be renamed by him into Benibana since its color was that specific red.

"Good luck that your Shikai doesn't end up into something ridiculous."

"I really hope so as well." agreed Jin to her comment.

"I wonder when our swords will show signs of changing." Fujimaru now interrupted them and looked at his own Asauchi. He got really worried about this matter and somewhat thought he would be left out later on.

Jin turned around and looked at Fujimaru. He nearly forgot that these two came with him. Matsuri actually was still looking at all the equipment littered around in the room they were at.

"Don't worry so much about it. Remember what our teacher said. Every Asauchi changes differently. And the hilt of your Asauchi is already changing to a blue color, is it not?" Jin tried to encourage Fujimaru a little bit.

"Hmm, you are probably right. Matsuri her Asauchi is changing to a pink color as well. But yours did change so much that it still made me worried."

"The one that should be worried is actually Jin and not you two.", another person joined them. It was Urahara.

"Captain Urahara!" Fujimaru greeted him and Matsuri did the same after noticing him.

"At ease. You three can just call me Kisuke. I am not that strict on formalities."

"Stop teaching them your lazy attitude!" Hiyori immediately kicked Urahara for telling them to be disrespectful. "It is probably because of that, that he calls me by my first name!"

"I think you are doing that yourself quiet well enough", chuckled Urahara.

"What was that!?"

As if ignoring her now, Urahara looked back at Jin.

"Normally Asauchi don't change so much that their users get uncomfortable with the blades. But Jin now has three Tanto that will have to be implemented into his fighting style. That is if he ever wants to harness their true power. And your Asauchi can become some jealous beasts like some woman if you don't use them properly." He chuckled and made a little joke about Jin his little predicament.

Jin actually took that advice to heart and didn't think about it as a joke. That pervert can keep those kinds of advice to himself.

While thinking about it, he moved his fingers over all of his blades.

Urahara saw this and smiled. Then he changed the subject. "So, Hiyori-chan is going to help you out in training? Then the item that I gave you should come in handy, no?"

"You actually eavesdropped on us?" Hiyori was now extremely angry because this guy shouldn't have heard them.

"Well, I got good ears? What can I say." Urahara tried to wiggle himself out but it was barely done with any effort on his part.

To diffuse this before it started into another rant, Jin started to answer him.

"I think the item will come in good use." Jin took out a little ball from his pocket and looked at it. "So what are its effects exactly? I know about one effect already. The one that my body is healing non-stop while I still have some Reiryoku left."

"Not healing, just strengthening the regeneration of your muscles. It is also suppressing your Reiryoku to a normal human level. With that, your training will become much more effective...I think. And your control over your Reiryoku will also advance by bounds. Especially you should benefit from that, Jin.", corrected Urahara and explained the other effects it had.

Jin noticed that last sentence. Why was he aware of his problem with control? "Why are you helping us? And if everyone had this then we could train up an army of good Shinigami. So why are we the only ones getting them?" Jin was a little bit skeptical.

"Haha, the problem is that it is still a prototype and only people with at least your amount of Reiryoku can use it. That being said it is still in its testing phase."

Jin narrowed his eyes and looked at Urahara. "So we are your guinea pigs?"

"Of course not. I tested them out myself. But at my level, they barely do anything anymore." Urahara smiled and now handed two other pills to Fujimaru and Matsuri. There were also red gloves with a blue flame included with them.

"Remember to use these special gloves to retrieve those pills out of your bodies later when you don't use them." Then he thought about something else. "Or you may just keep them inside the whole time. But I think at some point your bodies will feel like stones. It could hasten your training but I think that would be too much for you to handle."

"Thanks." Matsuri thanked him when she received those items. They would help them train so she didn't think much about it.

"Well, we will be going then. I feel like if we stay any longer we will end up as some experiments...", said Jin and looked at another person that was approaching. As if speaking of the devil summoned him.

The person Jin looked at had short blue hair and wore white makeup on his whole face. Or was it even makeup? It was just creepy to look at.

People who knew that person would immediately recognize him as Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Now he looked very different though. Much fewer implants and the likes but from the looks of it, it wouldn't take much longer for him to go nuts in that department.

Urahara saw him as well and nodded to the trio.

"That is fine. Good luck with your training."

The trio nodded and left. With them, a small shadow jumped on the ground after they left and then followed them outside.

"Who was that?", asked Mayuri now after he reached Urahara.

"No one special. Just some acquaintances of mine. How did the test go?" Urahara started to talk about work again to change the topic.

Mayuri did notice that and stayed silent for a moment. "And those acquaintances of yours need to be shadowed by the Onmitsukidö?"

"..."

"...The test went according to expectations. It was a failure."

"Hmm. Sad." Urahara continued to stare at Mayuri and stay silent after his reply.

Hiyori looked at both of them and got some goosebumps. Now she actually missed her old Captain.
