18 Detention

Jin was sitting on a wooden red chair and looking through iron bars to the other side of the room he was in.

These iron bars were the cage that was supposed to keep him inside the cell. Made out of a special material that was not destroyed so easily.

He was put into detention. His weapons confiscated and his arms were sealed with an advanced Bakudo spell so he couldn't draw on his Reiryoku.

His eyes were focused on a person behind those bars. It was his adoptive father Seigen. Seigen´s gaze was very stern and he only stared at him. He seemed to wait for an apology of some sorts. Or at least an explanation.

But Jin remained calm because he didn't think he would end up in a bad situation further than he already was.

"You are going to just stay silent, are you? So you got no regret about breaking the rules straight on your first day in the academy? I even had to come over and solve this. Do you remember I said don't do anything stupid to diminish the reputation of the Suzunami household?"

Jin only looked sideways after being confronted by him. "I don't regret it. Anyway, it´s not like I started it."

"It doesn't matter who started it! It matters that you used a Hado spell against a student. Did you want to kill him?", said Seigen with a deep frown on his face. His voice became angrier.

Jin turned back to him and his head slightly leaned forward. A shadow fell over his upper face and a dark shine appeared in his eyes.

"Lord Seigen, if I wanted him dead, then he would be a corpse already. It´s just that I would have no way to be forgiven then, right? With the status that the guy holds, I would end up being executed in no time. Just starting this so-called fight brought me here after all..."

Jin leaned back into the chair and smiled.

"And I will still stand by my action. Whoever hurts the people close to me will pay. My duty as a shinigami will save that person only so much..."

Seigen listened to those words and sighed a little. He knew this kid for a while now and noticed his very realistic viewpoint on things. He may look like someone that was doing things on the get-go but deeper in his mind he was always calculating his actions. And also considering his boundaries.

In a way, Seigen liked that because it very much reminded him of himself. Besides that, he would also do everything if it had something to do with his sister.

"Well, you will stay in detention for another 2 days until further notice.", commented Seigen.

"What about that guy? Did he get the noble card?", asked Jin and wanted to know if that bastard who started all this got scot-free.

"He will also stay in detention for a while for using an Asauchi without authorization. Jin, in the face of the law no one is special. Do you understand?" Seigen tried to guide Jin a little bit at this moment since he saw how Jin´s opinion about nobility was somewhat negative.

After all, Seigen was also noble and not every noble is like that brat using his higher standing to put oneself about others. Seigen of course didn't mention the lightly milder sentence that Banri received.

"Sure..." Jin was not convinced about that and knew better. Just at that moment, another person joined Seigen at the other side.

"Captain Suzunami. We need to go. We are expected at the meeting called upon by the Head Captain."

"Aizen..." Seigen thought about something for a short moment. "Good, let's go. Jin, don't let something like this happen ever again. Do you hear me?"

Jin looked at Aizen. "Is that Lieutenant Aizen?"

"Oh, you heard about me?", asked Aizen somewhat surprised and smiled at Jin after fixing the glasses he wore.

"Just a little bit from Lady Konoka. And since we are training to become Shinigami we should start to remember our superiors, no?", answered Jin back as if it was the most normal thing.

"That is a very admirable standpoint. I am very eager to see what kind of Shinigami you will end up becoming." Aizen didn't show it but Jin had a feeling he had a little glance over to his Asauchi that were on the other side in a box.

Jin was pretty sure Aizen had some underlying meaning in those words. He should be careful. It seems that now he ended up entering Aizen his little interest circle. And that would not end up in a good way.

"Jin..." Seigen interrupted both of them.

Jin only nodded immediately. "I understand, Lord Seigen. I won't let it come to such events again."

"Good, Aizen, let's move."

"Understood, Captain Suzunami"

Both of them left the visitor side and after hearing nothing at all Jin sighed somewhat and looked over to the box where his Asauchi was put into.

`Good thing I didn't end up using you in that useless fight. Are you taking it badly that I didn't? Do you hate me now?´

....

´What the hell am I doing talking to myself and actually trying to communicate with my sword while it is so far away from me. I don't even know what personality it has.´

Suddenly he heard something again and looked at who it was.

This time Matsuri and Fujimaru came by.

"Hey, you two. Are you alright, Matsuri?", asked Jin with a smile directed at her.

She was surprised that he would ask her that. After all, it was him being in detention because of her. Now she kinda felt embarrassed and slightly turned red.

"I am alright."

Then she puffed her cheeks a little in anger after realizing something.

"Shouldn't you be more worried about yourself? How is your arm?"

Jin looked at his arm. "Its as good as new. The guys from the 4th are an amazing bunch. Don't know why so many people despise them."

Matsuri sighed in relief. "That is good to hear."

"How long did you get?", asked Fujimaru now.

"Two days and probably some more after that as well. My guess is I am out in a week. I am going to have to take your notes when the time comes."

"Hey, about that. Matsuri and I have talked about it and we think we should start training properly."

"What do you mean with that?" Now even Jin was somewhat surprised. Those words come out of Fujimaru´s mouth after all. Someone that was a lazy bum.

"We think we should start training even after our normal curriculum. So that we don't get outclassed so much by the others...And not end up in such a situation again.", said Matsuri now. She definitely didn't want to end up on the ground again just by one hit from some asshole.

"Do you want to die from exhaustion, guys? You know the normal training is already hard enough, yes?"

"We know but if we did that we really could benefit from it, no? I am good at Hoho and Matsuri at Zanjutsu. With your Kido we can help each other better ourselves immensely, I think."

"...We are still missing Hakuda."

"About that. We just could figure it out together?" Matsuri knew that was the thing they were all bad at.

Jin looked at them and stayed silent for a while.

"Alright, we can do it. But don't complain afterward. And I think I know someone that can help out in our Hakuda. I am sure that person will agree to it."

"What? You do? Alright, if you say so than its settled." Fujimaru was amazed that he knew someone that could teach Hakuda and was happy about it. Now they had all four categories covered.

Jin nodded.

"Jin, I also brought something for you." Matsuri pushed a wooden box through the bars and placed it on the ground.

Jin went over and picked it up. He still had that much freedom to do so. "A bento? Did you make it?"

"Not completely." Matsuri blushed. "I made it together with Lady Konoka."

"Since we also had to leave for the day we went back home. Lady Konoka heard about this event as well and was not so happy. Be warned, mate."

Jin laughed wryly. So back at home, there was an angry housewife. Marvelous.

"Thanks for the heads up. And thank you as well, Matsuri."

"Sure." She nodded back at him.

After talking a bit about the further actions they would make the twins left and Jin had solitude as his partner once more.
