Blades & Roses

Blood. Blood was dripping from my forehead. Panting, I tried to catch my breath. For a minute, I was tempted to look back and see if the Japanese Yakuza was chasing after me. I muttered a curse, trudging through the quiet street, making sure to hide in the shadows, avoiding all streetlights. Stupid Japanese Mafia Boss and his claim to rule the mafia world. But I will never let him. Not after killing my entire family. Thinking about them, a brief flashback of my father screaming for me to flee before a bullet passed through his head, instantly ending his life, appeared in my line of vision. I clenched my hands into fists, sadness and fury burning inside me. I will make sure that the Japanese Mafia will pay for what they did. I will avenge my father. My family. From this day forward, they have declared war. And war they shall have. *** Cover Image from Google

MARGAUX

"Margie."

Offering me a glass filled with red wine, I stared at my father, eyeing him and the offered alcoholic drink with a wary look on my face.

Squinting my eyes, I tried to decipher what was happening.

Normally, he would warn me not to engage in any kind of liquor, especially if it was offered by someone, someone I don't know.

However, he didn't say anything if he was the one offering it.

"Is this my freedom drink?"

My father answered me with a nod, giving me a single 'hmm' as well.

I don't really understand what that meant but for my sanity and for whatever this was, I took him up on his offer, finally accepting the drink.

"So," he started, raising his own glass of red wine, a small smile starting to spread on his lips.

I leaned back on the leather seat across from my father, he did the same, the two of us eyeing each other.

"I'd like to make a toast before we begin your Friday session with me."
