Drunken Songs

"Olivia you can't drink any more of this. Human's aren't used to this drink since it's usually meant for vampires," Ivan informed her with concern, snapping Olivia out of her thoughts.

Her eyes widened, forgetting that to them, she was a simple and fragile human being.

"I've already had one cup and I feel a bit fine. Just give be a little bit more," Olivia slightly slurred her words to make it believable that she was at least tipsy.

"Alright, only half a cup though," Ivan frowned for a while before pouring her the drink himself.

Olivia was happy to drink some more even though this small amount wouldn't affect her that much.

As she looked at the trio getting increasingly intoxicated, Olivia smiled to herself.

Was this what you would call having friends?

It wasn't that she didn't know but she couldn't remember. She couldn't remember this feeling of being free and laughing with others without a care.

Over the last few years she had been feeling numb and oblivious to the outside world. Now that she had been thrusted back into it, her feelings had not changed, but just for this one night Olivia felt that she could perhaps allow herself to enjoy.

"Olivia, sing… sing us a song. It's your turn now," Almira heavily slurred her words, her dark brown skin, looking smooth under the moonlight.

Lila and Ivan didn't look any better either, their cheeks were rosy red while their eyes glistened and turned moist.

Once the other two heard the suggestion, they also fervently nodded their heads.

"Sing?..." Olivia felt that she hadn't heard the word in a very long time.

A rush of memories came to Olivia as she thought of what song she should perform. Soon, a particular song had rattled around in her mind, forcing her to not be able to pick any other.

'This should be considered as enjoying myself, right?'

Olivia stood up from her stool, and took a deep breath before starting her song.

"I'm a young girl, and have just come over,

Over from the country where they do things big

And amongst the boys I've got a lover,

And since I've got a lover…"

On the other side, Alexander was alone in his bedroom, laying on his bed. His eyes were wide open as he stared out at the moon. The curtains were yet to be drawn allowing him to see the dark night sky, littered in golden stars.

Alexander often liked to lay in his bed, neither entertaining himself with a book or going to sleep. Rather, he enjoyed laying there as he watched the stationary moon beam its light in the dark through the windows.

Soon, Alexander closed his eyes as he focused his ears. During nights like these, especially when the moon was as bright as it was, he liked to listen to the rustlings of the leaves and the crunches of the animals running past.

As his hearing continued to focus, rather than getting the usual sounds he was looking forward to, instead he heard a peculiar voice.

Curious, he continued to focus in order to listen better and stumbled on something he least expected.

As he listened further, Alexander could tell that someone was singing a song.

The lyrics made their way directly into his ear, causing him to frown.

'A love song?'

Although, he felt this voice was quite familiar, he couldn't really point out who it was.

While listening, he thought to himself that the voice sounded rather velvety. As if they were singing directly into his ear. The tone of the voice seemed to caress his entire being causing him to feel itchy all over.

Alexander no longer wanted to listen, but something wasn't allowing him to break away. Before he knew it, the song had already finished, making Alexander feel unsatisfied at its abruptness.

"Well sung Olivia!"

"That sounded great! Where did you learn it?"

Alexander's eyes narrowed as he heard the compliments.

'Olivia?'

Olivia, on the other hand, was highly unaware that a certain vampire had been eavesdropping the whole time.

"…An old friend taught me," Olivia replied.

At the moment, nostalgic memories were running past her mind, causing a genuine and gentle smile to form on her face.

"You…you look pretty when you smile," Lila slurred, her eyes focused on Olivia who was currently reminiscing.

Soon, everyone had seemed to be utterly intoxicated. Olivia had even found the time to sneak in a few cups to drink so, she too, was feeling quite disorientated.

"We need to go back. Its late into the night and we need to get up early tomorrow," Ivan stood up slowly, swaying from side to side.

"But I don't want to," Lila whined.

"Shut up, or we'll be skinned alive if we get caught," Ivan wasn't taking no for an answer.

Almira had long dozed off on her own, leaning against the wooden walls of the stable.

Ivan hauled the two girls up as they seemed to be the most inebriated in the room, Ivan wasn't any better either.

"Are you alright getting back?" He asked, turning to Olivia who was left walking on her own.

Olivia nodded her head, assuring that she could get back on her own just fine. Thereafter, the group had split ways.

Except, Olivia noticed that she could not get back to her room the same way she got out. She thought about it for a while before deciding to enter through the kitchen as that was closest to the staircase.

As she quietly walked up the stairs her head felt increasingly dizzier while her body felt humid and sticky.

Ever since having the privilege of taking at least one bath a day, Olivia had become addicted to the feeling of being clean. Now that she had worked up a sweat, she felt the need to wash it off.

Of course, on a normal day, Olivia wouldn't dare walk into Alexander's room at this time of night but she was not in her right mind.

At the moment, Olivia was by far, the most intoxicated she had been as of yet. This therefore allowed her courage to rise to the peak while her intelligence and common sense plummeted to the ground.

'After all, wouldn't Alexander be asleep right now?'

As she had already made up her mind, she turned the knob to his room and quietly walked in, gently pressing the door shut behind her.

Thankfully, when she was walking up, the hallways were lit with a few candles which helped aide her way, but right now she had found that Alexander's room was particularly dark bar the only source of light that came from the moon.

Due to her jumbled thoughts, Olivia did not bother to even look in the direction of his bed, opting to walk directly to the bathroom.

Alexander had, however, seen everything.

At first, he had heard her stumbles up the stairs and thought that she was merely taking her time to walk to her bedroom, but was surprised when the door to his room opened.

He quietly watched her from his bed, neither hiding not alerting her of his presence. He watched her pause as she looked out the window before promptly staggering towards the bathroom and closing the door.

At first, he did not know why she was behaving so strangely, even as far as to not be walking properly but the moment she had tottered into his room, he instantly caught the scent of alcohol permeating the air around her.

Earlier, he didn't know what caused her to suddenly start singing but now he was sure that it was on a drunken whim, an action that the regular Olivia wouldn't do.

Amidst his thoughts, the door to his bathroom abruptly opened.

Slowly, Olivia stepped out. Contrary to expectations, she had not sobered up during her wash as the hot water had served to further intoxicate her mind.

Once the moonlight hit her body, her flushed cheeks came into view. Her eyes seemed glistened over while her skin looked soft. She had undone the neat bun she always wore, allowing her hair to cascade past her shoulders.

This was the view that greeted Alexander once she walked out.

His eyes roamed her person, while she stood there dazed as if thinking about what she should do next. Soon, his eyes narrowed as he noticed that she was only clad in her chemise, her dress draped over her arm while she held her boots in the other.

Right now Olivia felt sleepy. Her eyes were droopy and she wanted nothing more than to drop asleep.

She dazedly walked through the room as if she were the owner, stopping by the side of the bed. She promptly threw the dress and boots on the wooden floor, causing a muffled thud to resound, before climbing to bed. She tucked herself in, just like she did every other night, and quickly closed her eyes.

Only a few minutes passed by and Alexander could already hear her steady breaths, a sign that she had long fallen into a deep sleep.

He was perplexed. He knew that she had gone to cleanse herself but he had expected she would immediately return to her room. Instead, she had snuggled herself into his bed and slept beside him.

Right now he was not sure whether to throw her out or allow her to be.

Her soft breaths rang beside his ear, causing him to pause his thoughts. He turned to his side and took the time to study her face. This was the closest Alexander had been to her.

At the moment, she looked peaceful and serene. Her long, black eyelashes quivered every so often. Below stood her small nose. Alexander noticed the tip was slightly red, matching her tender cheeks. Lastly, her lips. They looked delicate and supple, its cherry colour looking ripe enough for a quick bite.

As his dark eyes continued to scrutinize, Olivia's nose scrunched up, as if something was bothering her.

Indeed, something was bothering her. That was to say, a strand of hair had fallen across her face. It seemed to be tickling her, causing her to feel uncomfortable.

Alexander silently watched her in her discomfort, not in any way making a move to help.

He watched her attempts at swatting her face in order to get rid of her annoyance but each time failing before finally, reaching her goal.

Once her source of discomfort had vanished, her eyebrows eased while her nose smoothed itself out. Her breaths fell back into a steady pace soon after.

The warm sunlight hit Olivia's eyelids, gently caressing her to rouse her from sleep. Olivia slightly squirmed around in her place while her eyes remained closed. At the moment, her bed felt extremely snug and soft, more than she had ever felt before. In fact, this was a vaguely familiar feeling but she couldn't tell why.

She sighed, however, she knew that she could no longer stay in bed.

Gradually, she opened each eye only for her to come face to face with a pair of, all too familiar, crimson pupils.

Olivia widened her eyes while she unconsciously gripped the blanket. Strangely, she felt a sense of déjà vu.

"What are you doing?"

Alexander did not answer the foolish girl in front him.

While Olivia lay there staring back at him blankly, all of a sudden, an array of memories from last night, flew back in to her mind.

Her eyes continued to bulge as her mind relayed all that had happened, before promptly finishing the recount.

"Ah," Olivia gave a sheepish and extremely embarrassed smile at the vampire in front.

Except, he did not look pleased.
