9 Movie Night (1)

When Lisa joined him in the sitting room, she made sure to sit at the other end of the couch, far from him, since they both had to sit on the same large couch that was facing the large TV.

Tom thought it was best to not pay her any attention.

'This is going to be fun.'

He thought excitedly to himself before switching off the lights with a small remote.

The sitting room became dark and the only light present was coming from the TV.

He handed her a pack of popcorn and placed his beside him on the couch while he held a hugged a pillow.

'I can't wait to see a scaredy cat Germany'

He tried his best not to get overly excited as he cleared his throat to speak in a nonchalant tone.

"It's an horror movie. You don't have to get scared. They won't come out to get you."

Lisa looked at him and said an "Okay".

She tried her best not to laugh. If there was any movie genre she actually preferred to watch, it was 'Horror' and 'Crime'. She didn't like those Romance genres because she thought they were unrealistic and there was nothing for her to learn there. But seeing a 'Crime' movie, she could learn new tactics.

When Tom saw her nod and was sure she wouldnt leave, he hit the play button and the movie started.

In the movie, six college students took a vacation to the mountains.

They saw a creepy looking building in the mountain and entered inside out of curiosity.

'Who goes on a vacation to the mountain and enters into just any building they see?' Lisa asked herself but decided to keep watching.

After touching a thing or two 'forbidden items', they evoked a dark spirit unknowingly which surrounded the mountain and the dead began to rise from the ground— Both animals and humans.

Tom began to shift uncomfortably in his seat.

He stole a glance at Lisa and noticed she was not even flinching at all.

Her gaze was solely on the TV and her pack of popcorn remained untouched.

He swallowed hard and looked at the TV again. And immediately his eyes met the screen, a dead anaconda appeared in the scene and wrapped itself around one of the college boys— choking him to death.

Tom jerked in his seat and his popcorn almost flew over.

He nervously looked at Lisa and noticed she was still very composed with her eyes fixed on the screen.

It was as if they were not watching the same movie.

How could she remain to calm when he was trying his best not to pee on his pants?

He held the pillow closely to himself and tried to act like everything was normal. He was the man there so he was supposed to be bold right?

For goodness sake this was supposed to rouse out some emotions from her and not the other way round!

He began to wonder how he would be able to sleep later.

As they continued watching, he jumped again at a scary scene and this time, his pack of popcorn fell on the floor.

"That..." Tom scratched his head awkwardly as he turned to look at Lisa. "It fell by mistake." He explained to Lisa who was now staring at him.

As he bent to pick the popcorn one by one from the floor, and amused smile flashed on Lisa's face and quickly disappeared.

'Idiot. Who's scared now?' She said in her mind.

A few more minutes passed and he turned to ask in a very low voice.

"Aren't...you feeling sleepy yet?"

"No" Lisa answered. In fact, she liked the movie and wanted to see how it was going to end.

He swallowed hard for the umpteenth time and thought it was best to not pay attention to the movie again.

'This was a total waste of time!' He cussed Joel in his mind for giving him such an horrendous suggestion.

When the movie finally ended, Lisa stood up first and went straight to the room with the pack of popcorn in hand.

She dropped the pack in the trashcan immediately she entered inside the room.

She did not trust anyone. And someone like her could not risk eating what was offered to her. She had had her fair share of food poisoning.

Tom finally sighed in relief when she left.

"How can someone produce that kind of movie?" He asked himself in annoyance. And soon, he began to cuss the script writer, producer, director, and casts.

     -------------

That night, Tom could not sleep. He kept hearing things and he thought his mind was playing a huge trick on him.

He reminded himself that it was only a movie and nothing was going to happen. But when he slept, he woke with a start when he dreamt that he was being chased by a group of Zombies.

When he woke up, he had sweats all over his body even though the Air conditioner was on, and the room was cool.

He gasped for air a couple of times before he decided to go get a bottle of water from the fridge in the kitchen.

He probably would feel better after drinking some right?

As he left the room for his kitchen, he stopped walking when he thought he saw someone's shadow flash by.

"Who is that?" He turned around quickly with his flashlight but saw nothing behind him.

His heart began to race faster. Should he just return to his room or proceed to the kitchen?

He decided to just go get the bottle of water.

"I am obviously seeing things. Obviously!" He tried to convince himself.

But when he turned around, he jumped in shock when he saw a lady's figure standing in front of him in the darkness. The black clothes she wore made her look like an angel of darkness. And that moment, his heart stopped.

"Ger..many?" He asked with his hands on his chest.

"Sorry for startling you. Went to get a bottle on water" She lifted the bottle for him to see before she bowed curtly and excused herself to return to her room.

Immediately she got to her room, she found herself chuckling in amusement.

She unbuttoned her shirt to take out the bars of chocolate she hid there and carefully placed them on her bed.

She had wanted to hide when she heard him approach but had decided against it.

Since she noticed the movie had gotten to him a bit, she wanted to mess with him a little.

As she continued to laugh quietly, she caught sight of herself in the mirror.

"What am I doing right now?" She asked herself with a frown.
