Chapter 48: Not My Happily Ever After

The Bonding Ceremony was beautiful. The mansion gardens had been decorated with string lights and the ceremony took place right at sunset. I stood beside Persephone, holding her bouquet. Loki stood across from me beside Ash. He kept trying to catch my eye, but I kept my focus on the couple.

When the ceremony was over, the whole pack went to the reception tent. Champagne was being served along with some pastries and finger food.

I grabbed a champagne flute and stood off to the side to watch Ash and Persephone’s first dance. Instead of doing a father-daughter dance, Persephone danced with Loki and Ash asked me to dance.

“You’re basically like a sister to me. We can dance,” he said when I hesitated.

“Okay, okay,” I said. I finished off my champagne and set the glass aside before taking Ash’s hand. He spun me out onto the dancefloor.
