Chapter 46: Reconstruction

In the weeks after Caleb’s arrest, I felt like I didn’t have a moment to rest or a moment alone. Ash needed all the help he could get in putting Nightshade back together. Once the truth of Caleb’s brutality and intentions had come out, the pack had nearly fallen apart.

I was staying in the mansion along with Loki and Persephone who were helping keep things contained.

Ash had to manage the pack, gain their confidence, and sort through the mess Caleb left behind. It was a lot of work for one to do on his own.

Loki, Ash, and I spent most of our nights pouring over Caleb’s documents and rummaging through his office.

“Do you have the pack finance reports for last month?” I asked as I was reviewing Caleb’s bookkeeping.

So far, it had revealed that his dealings were even shadier than we had thought. He was embezzling money and involved in some pretty sketchy human operations.

“I can’t make up this revenue in legal endeavors overnight,” Ash grumbled, rubbing his temples.
