Chapter 18: A Push for Power
Autumn doesn’t know what to say. There is tension between the two siblings, and the last thing she wants to do is come between them. Jazz is skinny with long wavy black hair. Her green eyes stand out against the dark pool of locks. She’s exactly what Autumn pictures Lana looked like before age stole her beauty.
Autumn’s heart skips a beat as Lana speaks up from behind them as if the mere thought of the woman conjured her forth.
“I told her not to let this woman in,” Lana snaps. “How dare you ask her to defy your own mother’s orders?!”
Blake turns around to face his mom. “She needs to draw blood samples to check for the virus. Would you put the pack in danger just to suit your own grudge?” he asks, clearly frustrated by his mother’s interference.
Lana takes an exaggerated step back. “Now you insult me? What kind of a son are you?”
