A few hours earlier, in Country M.
Sawyer paced inside the dim living room, looking at his cell phone in worry.
This was the first time Abigail had not replied to his texts for almost thirty minutes. She had not even called him back after he had called a few times.
It was unusual for Abigail not to reply to his messages after her shift. She usually answered them quickly. If she were in the middle of something, she would respond with a short text telling him so.
'Is she alright? Why didn't she answer me? Call me back?'
Sawyer felt his heart sink when a thought crossed his mind. He immediately called Brody's phone to check.
"Brody, why hasn't Abigail replied to my text? She didn't even call me back. Is she alright? Did she get home?"
Sawyer bombarded Brody with the many questions that had bothered him for the past thirty minutes.
