Chapter 1 (RD)

On an inconspicuous road called Privet Drive, sits a conspicuous unmoving, black-furred tabby cat. Some might say this cat's behavior is quite normal, this would be true if not for its strangeness with its intelligent eyes as well as weird markings on its face that made the cat look to be wearing strange square spectacles.

What is even stranger is a man appearing on the corner on the street silently. his purple cloak littered with glowing stars drew more attention than any cloak should, his silver beard stretching the majority of his rather tall, yet thin stature tucked strangely into a belt that while baring a strange buckle of a coat of arms filled with 4 bizarre animals was one of the most normal of the things he wore.

His sparkling, sharp blue eyes wearing half-moon spectacles quickly meets with the only other strange thing of the street beside himself, the cat which was glaring right back at him.

"Fancy seeing you here, Professor McGonagall."

He greets the tabby, which within seconds shifted from the strangely spectacled looking cat to a severe-looking woman who wore the very square spectacles the cat wore. She wore a royal emerald cloak which contrasted with her black hair, sea-foam green eyes and sharp features rather nicely.

"How did you know it was me? Headmaster Dumbledore" She asked.

"My dear professor, I've never seen a cat sit so stiffly." The now aptly named Dumbledore responded, eyes sparkling mirthfully.

"You'd be stiff if you'd been sitting on a brick wall all day," snapped Professor McGonagall.

They stared at each other in discomfort on the dark street.

"I heard he went after the Potter's son, Harry as well. But… They also said he couldn't do it. He couldn't kill the little boy." She said with a trembling voice cutting through the silence.

"They're calling him 'The boy who lived.' If I remember it right, because of his survival to that blasted curse." The Merlin doppelgänger said glumly.

McGonagall took a shaky breath with a look of terror, "he was hit, with the killing curse?" she voices out in airless dread.

Dumbledore nods his head sombrely, "alas he was." only for his mood to turn better, "But all was not lost, for thank to him that man is now gone."

"If this is true, he will need protection, he's just a boy and be it fame from those he saved, or those he took a master from. He is still in danger!" McGonagall yells.

"Ah, that is true. I did some reading up in the Hogwarts library on protection and came across an ingenious way of protecting him. A blood ward. It needs but three things. A willing sacrifice... A base for the ward to be laid down onto, this must be of blood either from or related to the sacrifice, this will be both the boy's auntie and cousin. And finally, a large constant supply of magic, which I prepared yesterday."

"Albus! That's borderline dark magic! And didn't you personally ban any use of blood magic in Europe?" said

Dumbledore sighs in defeat "Yes, but when it comes to protecting poor Harry, I think it calls for it."

McGonagall stares at Dumbledore for a while and then joins him in sighing. "How did you get the constant supply of magic for such a thing?"

Dumbledore quickly gains a sparkle in his bespectacled eyes as he looks over to a house on the street with a 4 on it, "I think I had a moment of genius with this. The power required for this level of the unbreakable protective ward is so large, that it needs direct access to a ley-line. Now unfortunately the nearest one to here is over near St Peters hospital. So, I lifted a long-dead ley-line from below the house and revived it creating the first-ever artificial ley-line," Dumbledore spouts off with a bit more than a hint of pride.

The green-robed woman looks up at the old man with an expression of shock and awe. She opens her mouth to voice a question when a thunderous roar of a poorly tuned motorcycle comes from above.

A large mountain of leather looking overcoat on top of a poor sounding motorcycle slams down onto the street drawing both teachers' attention.

They both watch as the motorcycle pulls up in front of the house with a 4 out front. They both approach it and the mountainous figure riding it, which hops off the motorcycle and grabs a wrap of cloth from the front of its ride.

"You gave him to Hagrid?" McGonagall quietly hisses to Dumbledore as they continue their approach.

"I would trust Hagrid with my life," Dumbledore responds jovially.

They approach the man with an obvious giant lineage, his face covered in tufts of bushy black hair which covered up his entire face, leaving just but 2 black beady eyes which had a bit too much warmth for a man who clocked in at 3.5 meters tall.

"Where did the motorcycle come from? Hagrid," Dumbledore asks.

"Young Sirius Black lent it to me. I've got him, sir," Hagrid responds while gently lifting the cloth wrappings which gave way to show all 3 a toddler not even 2 years of age yet with an infected looking lightning bolt-shaped scar boldly shining on his forehead.

They all slowly started walking up towards the house they amassed at.

"Dumbledore, please think twice about leaving him here. These people are some of the worst sorts, I saw their son kicking his mother all the way up the street, screaming for sweets. Surely there's another related to poor Lily for the wards," Ms McGonagall pleads.

"Alas, there is not. They are his only family left, they will accept him." He responds with a twinkle of self-assured confidence shining behind his glasses.

Hagrid places the poor recently orphaned Harry in front of the door to the house. Dumbledore places a letter and taps Harry's blanket once with his wand ceases the slight shivering of the baby. And after a tearful goodbye, Dumbledore and McGonagall go as quietly as they came, while Hagrid leaves the baby a sputtering mess.

Later that day a screech from the house was heard and Harry was taken in, albeit reluctantly. This was the beginning of a story that would span dimensions, 2 civil wars, and most of all. It's a story about a boy with magic, bringing about change beyond anything he could ever realize.

In the house with a four out front, a locked cupboard under the stairs has a little kid standing in it pressing his ear against the door.

outside said cupboard in the house's living room stands a woman with a neck two sizes too tall and a bulbous man who is more so wide than he is tall.

the man sits down on the couch in front of the television causing the coach to sound out in protest.

The woman looks down at him with disinterested eyes, "The freak is old enough to go to school, our neighbors will soon ask questions."

said boy in the cupboard noticeably perks up.

"Just send him to the same school as my Dudley, he can start cookin-" the man is cut off while switching the television on.

"-But he's just 5 years old. Yes, I agree that he should soon learn to pull his weight in the house we allow him to live in, but have you ever seen or heard of a 5-year-old learning to cook?" the woman voices out.

"Didn't you tell me that his kind leaves all their chores to their freakishness? why not have him burn that freakishness and laziness out by having him cook and do chores?" says the large man as he glances over at his wife.

the woman develops a pensive and bitter expression, "Fine..."

in the cupboard the kid throws himself down onto the bed in there and starts giggling, "I'm going to school!" he whispers in excitement staring up at the roof staircase of his cupboard taking notice of a small spider spinning up a web.

his excitement and interest in the spider slowly lessen as his eyes slowly grow increasingly tired leading to him falling asleep.

The kid is now in the middle of a classroom sitting between a bunch of other children with an old-looking woman in front of them wearing a permanent scowl.

the older woman looks down at the children, she then yaps off, "Alright, when I look at you say your name and your favorite toy, hobby or whatever."

each child starts doing as told, saying their names and one thing they like, all of which fell into either being with their parents, playing with toys, TV shows, or playground games.

it gets to a portly child, his shining watery blue eyes looking around him at the other kids and yells out, "My names Dudley, and I love the telly, new toys, and I want to grow up to be like my dad!"

Dudley's active behavior drags in a few interested looks from the other children.

The kid from the cupboard is finally chosen, his eyes light up only to grow into confusion, "uh... my name is... Freak? an-"

"There will be no jesting in this classroom, Harry Potter!" the older woman snaps, "Go outside and sit, I'll talk to you about this later."

The now named Harry drops his head low as he softly walks out of the classroom.

later the teacher leaves the classroom and stands in front of Harry, who is sitting on an outside bench.

"Now, I won't contact your aunt if you promise me not to do any more wisecracks," the older woman stares down at Harry intimidatingly.

Harry opens his mouth to speak, only for the woman to increase the intensity of the stare causing Harry to look down and away from her and nod meekly.

"Alright, head back into the classroom and sit with a group," the teacher instructs.

Harry walks back into the class hiding from all the curious stares from the rest of the children behind the teacher.

He makes his way to a group of three sitting on the ground.

The group only speaks about shows they like or new toys.

"I love Inspector Gadget!" a red-haired kid with brown eyes exclaims to the group, he stares at the others of the group and asks, "what's your favorite shows?"

"I like Heathcliff the cat." says a smaller kid with a ball cut.

"Galaxy Ranger?" a girl with a pixie cut says shrugging.

they all look towards Harry curiously.

"I... like watching the spider in my room?" He says with a voice filled with confusion.

all the kids look at Harry in revulsion and move away from him.

no one says a thing about it and soon they all start back up with their conversation.

Harry sits there looking down at his fidgeting hands in his lap.

Minutes pass by and he decides to look for another group, so he gets up and starts looking.

Dudley sits with two other kids.

"Wow, you have an Atari!" one kid shouted with an envious gaze.

Dudley grins happily, "Yeah, you two can come and play it!"

Then Dudley spots Harry walking through the classroom and yells out happily, "Hey Freak, come over here!"

Harry freezes up, looks over to Dudley, and starts to robotically walk towards him.

Harry does not see a hand belonging to one of the kids by his feet and accidentally steps onto it and loses his balance and flies forward flailing his hands in front of him planting onto the ground.

Harry slowly picks himself back up with a pained expression, he reaches into his mouth and plucks out a tooth.

Harry seeing the tooth starts crying silently.

Dudley looks towards harry with a mixed mirthful and pitying expression.

"What's wrong with him?" asks one of the kids next to him.

Dudley looks towards the kid, "He's my cousin."

"Your cousin's name is freak?" asks the second kid.

Dudley looks towards the kid and grumbles, "I think so."

The first kid looks towards Dudley and then at Harry, "he's weird."

Dudley looks back to Harry who now pushed himself off into a silent corner.

"Now, when you start hearing the egg dance, flip it," The tall necked woman says glaring down at a head of chaotic, black hair belonging to Harry.

"Yeth aunth Pethunia," said Harry, nodding his head shakily as he picked up the pan with the support of his aunt.

As the nephew and aunt wait there for the food, a pair of light footfalls come from the staircase as Dudley rushes down it.

"Mommy, do you want to know what happened at school today?" Dudley rushes up to them with a hop in his step.

'Pethunia' looks down at her son with a bright smile, "Sure my little Duddy-kins, what happened?"

Dudley's eyes flash as he starts listing out today's happenings, "I met the teacher, Ms Sundowner, I made two friends!" He then noticeably loses his steam, "oh, Freak also fell over and lost a tooth."

'Pethunia' quickly looked down in shock at Harry, who is putting his entire focus into the currently dancing eggs.

Harry picks up the pan, this time without his aunt's support leading to the pan spilling onto its side and getting a slight spray of boiling oil over Harry and Petunia's arms.

Petunia hisses back and Harry cries out in pain.

To the surprise of Harry, his aunt ignores her own injury and instantly grabs Harry's own and proceeds to place it under running water.

Harry stares at his aunt with shock filled eyes, a few seconds of staring in shock gives way to a look of warmth.

The house suddenly starts shaking and tearing along with the feeling of a huge force falling onto everyone in the house.

'Pethunia' with Harry still in her arms looks around in confusion, her confusion gives way to shock, and terror and she then proceeds to pick her son up and start running out into the hallway towards the exit of the house.

As she runs with the two kids in her arms towards the exit her movement towards the door starts slowing down, she is still running at the same speed, but the door is approaching slower than when she started.

She connects this phenomenon with an off-putting feeling from behind her navel and from the disconcerting expressions of Harry and Dudley, they are feeling the same thing.

The next second, they all vanish from the house with a crack of thunder.

(IAI)

The first thing 'Pethunia' realizes is that she's flowing down a river.

She looks around herself only to see a vast expanse of something flowing along with her.

An expression of shock and awe paints her face as she stares out into the expanse of magical energy and beyond.

The far beyond is littered with nebulous clouds, each with a well of magical force falling into them, the stream she's flowing down is attached to a well heading into a nebula far larger than any around her.

Her expression of awe quickly shifts to one of terror, she glances down towards her arms finding two just as shocked kids, Dudley and harry.

They all flow down towards the nebula and into it.

As they flow through the nebula, they feel a flow reminiscent of a summer's breeze brushes past all of them pulling them towards a bright spot in the nebula.

A loud thunderous crack radiates out from an alleyway of a large glorious coastal city.

In said alley, a woman and two kids now lay.

Give feedback if you want me not to suck at writing.

Thank you for reading this first chapter in hopefully an overarching story that makes sense and doesn't follow too many tropes.

I am unfortunately really struggling to get the personalities right, so feedback on how to not do that would be appreciated. Even just a 'bad' or 'good' on the paragraph comments would be accepted!
