Chapter Three

As I'm heading back home I find myself thinking about John. I've never really met him. I haven't even seen him around school either. He seems like a chill guy. Hayden told me to be careful around him if I were to come into contact with him. But I don't get what the big deal is. I know what it's like to have rumors spread around about you 'cause of what your parents did. It was hard for me in middle school when kids found out what my mother did. I was three when my father left me and my mom. We didn't really have much money growing up. When I was eleven my mother received an eviction notice. I came home one day to find out she packed up her stuff and left. She left a bote on the counter for me to find. It read "We need to go our separate ways." I couldn't believe my own mother abandoned me. I was so heart broken. I cried for a little while feeling so lost. Once I gathered myself together I found my stuff in a trash bag. So I took my stuff and left. One day I was sitting on a park bench I was wearing a dark blue hoodie, it was midwinter and I was trying to keep warm. It was around 10:30pm and a lady walked up to me. She asked where my parents were and if they knew I was out late. I was hesitant at first but I told her everything that happened. She told me her name was Katie. I said to her, "I'm Anya." She took me to her house that night and she had a husband named William and a son named Lukas. Me and Lukas became close. They were a nice family they didn't have a lot of money but they weren't poor. When I got into High School I met Hayden. When I turned 15 I got a part time job at Melbane cafe with Hayden.
