The will to do the impossible
Sky-thirteen dropped the hand she got tempted to give James a whack in the face with. Why couldn't he have been the one with skin hardening? He would have been unconscious if he had gotten hit by her instead. That would have served him right for all the nonsensical things he ever said around her.
"I don't think brainstorming is working," she said after taking a deep breath. "We need to get these teens new abilities instead of listening to this pointless chit-chat."
"Wait," said Zack. "I know for a fact we all have levels of super strength."
"Tess hit herself in the head for being so blind. "Yeah, that's how we can lift those giant swords with a breeze. I guess we're not that pathetic after all."
Lanse thought there was no better word to describe their predicament.
"What's up with you today?" Zack asked Tess. Every word that came out of her mouth was geared at thrashing someone.
