Tess put on her summoning gloves, failing to get her mind excited about the new mission Sensei had for them. She and her teammates only had training warm up when they had to suit up and head to the mission base.
It was still early morning which meant the chances of seeing people were high. Tess dropped her hands at her side. Her lifeless eyes stared at the hologram screens beside the man who threatened to kill her with a heat beam. What isolated place was he going to send them to that time?
Pictures with ash marks on people's skins flashed onto all the holograms. The marks were on parts of the body exposed to sunlight, like the arms, legs, back, and head. Other screens switched to spiked tentacles the moment they jutted from the host's body. The last images that popped onto all the screens showed the dark veiny monsters they all know too well. They ranged from thin and fast-moving to thick and deadly.
