Chapter 86: Sayoko's Invitation
Yuta's wager against Kaoruko wasn't made in a moment of rash anger; he had a plan.
Tama University didn't have any notable alumni worth promoting. Yuta was confident he could become a distinguished figure for the school and surpass Kaoruko's influence in the field of literature.
Kaoruko was only somewhat well-known for her insights and research on "The Tale of Genji," but outside of the university, who recognized her?
As for the authority held by scholars, it's laughable when faced with money and capital!
Once he made enough money and achieved some success, people would naturally help boost his reputation.
After setting up the bet with Kaoruko, Yuta left the office, planning to head home and think seriously about how to quickly make money.
At that moment, Raika wasn't around; she must have already gone home. So, Yuta walked toward the train station.
Before he reached the campus gate, an ultra-luxurious sports car slowly drove toward him.
Students playing on the sports field and others on campus all turned their attention to the car. This wasn't an ordinary vehicle; it was the highest of the high-end!
Even students unfamiliar with luxury cars could tell from its streamlined body and sleek design that this car was extraordinary.
It was not some ordinary taxi; this was the kind of ultra-luxurious sports car rarely seen even on television!
As a technician frequently dealing with machines, Yuta understood the car's value.
Most people couldn't afford this car even with a lifetime income, and it was definitely handcrafted!
Handcrafted didn't mean every part was made by hand, as that would be impractical.
This car was definitely a limited-edition, flagship sports model!
A flagship model, also known as a top-tier model, is the most powerful, well-equipped, high-grade, and expensive among all models offered by a car company.
Driving such a car on campus was an absolute attraction-magnet!
Usually, women who thought highly of their own charm would approach the car to greet the driver, asking for a ride—and what happens afterward needs no elaboration.
However, the current situation was not that the women didn't want to get in the car, regardless of whether the driver was a boss or an old man. The issue was they couldn't get into the car!
It wasn't because the doors were locked, or because the car was speeding away.
The driver was a woman...
There was only one person at Tama University who could own such a luxury car!
Sayoko drove her sports car up to Yuta and, after taking off her sunglasses, smiled and said, "Yuta-kun, since you don't have any classes this afternoon, would you like to join me for lunch?"
"Sure!"
Yuta wasn't particularly interested in the person in the car, but he was fascinated by the car itself and eager to take a ride in it, so he readily agreed.
Sayoko's smile became even more gracious as she opened the car door for Yuta to get in.
"We're going to a Western restaurant I frequent," Sayoko said, and with that, she pressed the gas pedal and drove out of the campus under the envious gazes of both male and female students.
Earlier today, when she was in class with Raika, Sayoko couldn't help but silently compare herself to her, especially in trivial matters.
For instance, she couldn't manage, nor relate to, the way a well-endowed girl might find relief by using a desk for support.
Appearance, academic performance, figure, bust size, height...
The more she compared, the angrier she became.
The angrier she became, the more she wanted to prove she wasn't inferior.
So, Sayoko decided to bring out the sports car and vowed to steal this boy away!
Yuta thought that telling Sayoko he was just siblings with Raika would make her lose interest. This belief simply showed that Yuta didn't understand women.
When women get jealous, they can be fierce. Sayoko believed that by winning over Yuta, who spoke with Raika at school, she was launching the best attack against Raika!
As long as Yuta's attention was focused on her and he ignored Raika, Raika, who had no friends, would definitely come crying, asking why Sayoko took her brother away.
Hehehe! I'll take your brother, trample on your pride, and make you cry in a corner!
Just thinking about it thrilled Sayoko, and the better the relationship between Yuta and Raika, the more accomplished she felt!
Yuta wasn't aware of all these nuances; his mind was entirely focused on the car.
As for Sayoko's intentions, not only were Yuta and Kaoruko likely indifferent, but Raika probably wouldn't care either—if it makes her happy, so be it.
Sayoko hadn't enjoyed doing something this much in a long time. As she drove and smiled, she said to Yuta, "Yuta-kun, may I call you Yuta?"
"Sure, that's fine," Yuta replied, not particularly concerned about being on a first-name basis. He was busy listening to the car's engine and assessing its performance.
"Great, you can also call me Sayoko," she responded, clearly pleased and feeling proud of herself.
She planned to make a point the next day to use their first names in front of Raika as a way to demonstrate intimacy and perhaps irritate her.
Yuta found Sayoko somewhat chatty, but since this was her car, he figured she was a nice person, and any annoyance he felt disappeared.
"Alright, Sayoko."
Sayoko glanced at Yuta and then focused back on the road.
How had she not noticed this handsome guy on campus before? He wasn't extraordinarily handsome, but the more she looked, the more appealing he seemed.
However, he did seem a bit young. Sayoko generally preferred the bright, outgoing type of handsome guy over this quieter type.
"By the way, my dad's yacht is hosting a party this weekend. Would you like to come with me?" Sayoko wanted to show off her wealth, and just the car wouldn't suffice; she wanted him to see the lifestyle she lived as a wealthy person.
Yuta declined after hearing this. "I might have to work over the weekend, so I'll pass."
Even if he wasn't working, he would want to spend time with Hina and the two girls. Sasha's job was busier during the summer, and it would settle down afterward.
"Work?" Sayoko laughed gently. As a young lady of privilege, she didn't need to work for tuition like most students. "My father's car factory probably has some positions. Do you want me to ask around for you? You could work there instead."
