[85] A No-Lose Gamble

Chapter 85: A No-Lose Gamble

Being invited by a beautiful teacher for one-on-one tutoring after school might sound appealing, but Yuta isn't interested.

It's not that he isn't attracted to Kaoruko; it's just that he's not interested in having any encounters with her right now.

Kaoruko is very charming, and Yuta does have an interest in her.

However, if he gives in to her, it would mean he's at a disadvantage, and right now, Yuta is quite resentful of her.

He wishes to engage with Kaoruko only when she doesn't want it.

In short, as long as he doesn't have the upper hand, Yuta finds Kaoruko irritating, especially her attitude of assuming she controls everything or her disgustingly self-sacrificial demeanor.

Kaoruko is seen as a perfect woman, and Yuta admits she's the most perfect woman he's ever met, excelling in every aspect.

She possesses both gentleness and grace, impeccable appearance and physique, as well as intelligence.

For this reason, Yuta is even more determined to conquer her.

Kaoruko has always been provoking Yuta, making him quite angry.

Yuta wants to defeat her, but physically it's impossible since she seems mentally prepared.

What Yuta desires is a psychological victory over Kaoruko, to shatter both her confidence and composure.

Currently, Yuta holds this mindset, not wanting to see Kaoruko, yet devoting some of his energy to becoming stronger and ultimately conquering her.

Kaoruko provides Yuta with study essentials she devised herself, ensuring that if he studies them diligently, he won't fail his exams.

After class, Kaoruko exits directly, and Yuta follows, watching the attractive teacher in her uniform from behind.

"I guess I still prefer mature women..."

Yuta averts his gaze to the road, realizing well that Kaoruko isn't suitable for him.

"Sayoko isn't one of my goals. If you're interested in her, I could help you," says Kaoruko once inside her office, turning to Yuta with words uncharacteristic of a teacher.

Yuta isn't surprised. Although Sayoko is fairly pretty, she lacks in many areas and differs distinctly from traditional girls.

Yuta doesn't look down on Sayoko, but that's just a fact.

"I'm not interested in Sayoko; she's only around me because of Raika, which ultimately stems from a situation you caused. Didn't you promise not to trouble me?" Yuta replies.

Kaoruko looks at Yuta, expressionless, "I wasn't lying. As an aunt, asking you to help with Raika isn't too much, is it? If you don't like it, I can tell Raika to stay away from you."

Yuta sighs, contemplating how insightful this woman is, and wonders if anyone in the world can truly match or restrain Kaoruko.

"I talked to Raika about you, and she doesn't mind at all. We knew each other before, so it's fine as it is," Yuta shifts the topic, unwilling to dwell on this, "So, why did you call me here?"

Kaoruko glances at Yuta, "I called you here for studying. Your grades are terrible, something you should be aware of."

"I know, which is why I'm planning to transfer. I'm better suited for industrial fields rather than literature and want to enroll in a specialized technical university," Yuta said, understanding that his current environment wasn't a good fit for him.

Kaoruko was not agreeable to this. "If transferring schools were that easy, would people still bother with university exams? You're oversimplifying things!"

"Then can I at least change my major? I want to switch from the Literature Department to Physics," Yuta suggested, thinking this would be less challenging than transferring schools.

Kaoruko shook her head, "You're already one of my pre-selected students, so stop entertaining impractical ideas."

"Am I your pre-selected parent or something?! Why do you keep causing me trouble?"

Yuta never agreed to be her student, nor had Kaoruko ever mentioned such a decision to him.

Kaoruko was a bit surprised at Yuta's angry expression, not understanding why he was upset. She didn't think she had done anything excessive.

Yuta had always been annoyed by Kaoruko. Previously, he managed to stay polite, not wanting to direct his anger toward a woman. But now, he couldn't hold it in.

"There is a saying, 'Cutting someone's financial means is like killing their parents.' Isn't it excessive for you to interfere with my education path?"

Yuta valued his education highly. As a pragmatic intellectual and technician, he understood the importance of knowledge.

It wasn't just about instructing Hina, Sora, and Miu; this was who Yuta was.

That's precisely why he became so angry when Kaoruko interfered with his studies.

However, Kaoruko couldn't fully grasp Yuta's dedication to education nor could she fully understand the concept of knowledge transforming one's destiny.

Faced with Yuta's challenge, Kaoruko looked at him disdainfully. "Do you really think you have the right to say that? In class, it seems like all you do is sleep, daydream, doodle, or skip class for part-time jobs."

Uh...

Yuta couldn't find a way to counter her argument. What she said had indeed been true, but that was in the past!

Seeing Yuta speechless, Kaoruko continued, "Tama University may not be a bad school, but it's certainly not a prestigious one either. Don't you find it ridiculous to talk about academic success here while you're still at the bottom of your class?"

Raika didn't choose this college because it was a good school, but merely because it was close to home. Tama University is just an average institution.

It's like a student who skips class to play video games suddenly telling a couple in class, "A student's main job is to study."

The words are correct, but coming from a different person, they would be more convincing.

Yuta felt deflated after Kaoruko's remarks. Looking at her indifferent expression made him even angrier.

"Let's make a bet. I'll prove that, without your help, I can achieve greater success in literary influence than you!" Yuta decided not to change his major anymore; his goal was to surpass Kaoruko in the literary department during his college years.

"Fine," Kaoruko replied with a smile, looking kindly at Yuta. "If you lose, you'll assist with my research. This condition isn't too much, is it? Not only will you gain my assistance, but you'll also learn to understand women."

Yuta looked seriously at Kaoruko. "Fine, if you lose, stay away from anything related to The Tale of Genji."

"No way! Pick another condition; this is something I absolutely won't agree to," Kaoruko promptly refused.

This woman... Yuta was angry and glared at Kaoruko, exclaiming, "If you lose, you have to become my woman!"

"Agreed," Kaoruko accepted easily.

She was very confident in herself; as long as she remained perfect, nothing would go wrong. She had already mentally prepared for the possibility of becoming involved with Yuta.

For Kaoruko, this bet seemed like a guaranteed win.

She looked at Yuta, her calm expression tinged with a hint of regret.

Men are so easily swayed by their emotions.
