Chapter Fourteen: Mother-Daughter Talk

"This is so exciting!" Mom bounced in her seat on the bed. "I have to tell you, Dad."

"No!" Grabbing her arm before she finds Dad. "Don't…please..."

"Baby, what's wrong?" Mom sat back down, and her face fell. "This is great news. If your Dad knew that Izek is your fated mate, he wouldn't hurt him because he knows hurting someone's mate leads to consequences."

"I know…I know that, but…."

"But what?"

I'm not sure if I should tell Mom the other thing. The other is something I've been worried about since meeting Izek.

I turn my body to face her. Looking straight in the eyes. "Mom, look at me."

"I'm looking."

"No, take a good look at me," I say firmly and frustrated. "I'm not normal."

"What are you saying?"

I jump off my bed and grunt. "My hair. My eyes. Mom takes a good look at me. I don't look like anything like you or Dad. I don't look normal."
