(Fweeet)
At the sound of the whistle, I shot a ball at the right corner letting it fly but I didn't watch it directly calling for the next ball. By the time the designated guy passed me the ball from under the basket, my shot hit true. The second shot also hit and so did the third but I didn't linger as I moved on to the next spot at the top right side.
The catch-and-shoot drill with a total of 21 shots went by pretty quickly once I got hot. My Body was moving on its own shooting automatically without me even having to think about it. I only missed 3 out of the 21 shots and that was only because of the fatigue finally getting to me. My final time was 50 seconds finishing 10 seconds earlier than my allotted time.
"Alright, good effort everyone," he said after everyone had their chance at the drill and he had compiled everyone's scores. He went to the sides to talk to his assistant coach seemingly discussing something we were not preview too.
"Great work today gentleman, You have shown me some great dedication today," Coach Garcia said, catching all our attention as we all gathered around him. The trials were pretty much done so we were all waiting to see who made it onto varsity. JV was honestly only a second though but most would rather make it than fail completely.
"You've shown me a lot of heart and skill, Mike and I have a lot to think about when it comes to team selection. You will have our answers by lunchtime tomorrow," He told us with a genuine smile before proceeding to clap his hands in congratulations.
Hearing his words a feint smile appeared on my face, especially after hearing those in the bleachers also clapping. We spent 2 hours working hard to prove our skills so it feels nice being recognised for it. Nodding at his words we quickly made our way to the bleachers to get our stuff so that we could get out of here.

Sitting in his new office Coach Garcia could be seen intently looking over the data gathered in today's trials. His assistant coach Mike was animatedly introducing last year's players whom he thought should rejoin the team. Not being a traditional coach Mike is a sports physio serving as the teams go to medical staff.
"We should definitely retain Devonte's powers he is an experienced centre having played for the team in his junior years," He said catching Garcia's attention his eyes involuntary moving to the boy's data. Devonte is a traditional centre, having a burly and slightly overweight build allowing him to receive and deal out punishment.
"I like the boy but the Junior Royale is a better attacking player," He retorted pulling up details of the kid. Despite being a year younger than the senior he stood at a height of 6'10 two inches taller than the 6'8 Devonte.
"Their play style is just two different but I think both of them will perform well for us this year," Mike said before going on to outline both of the player's benefits in the team's tactical framework.
Depending on what the team needs from their centre will determine who plays at a certain match. Who will end up playing in the first string will be determined by their individual strength and diligence during training. For the Power forward (PF) positions their choices were much easier as the two stand out for those positions were Joel Mendez and Cody Ezra.
Cody is a senior entering his final year of high school ball and is also the captain of the team. After breaking through the rotation in his sophomore year, he's been a standout for the team. Last year was his best season yet averaging, 20.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists. This year he is expected to have his best season yet already gaining some attention from scouts.
It's not hard for him to become a 3-star prospect if he builds upon his momentum. Joel on the other hand is also an exciting talent preferring to play with more finness than the physical body. Having a decent jumper in his bag makes him a valuable player after undergoing his growth spurt reaching a height of 6'3. He is an inch taller than his senior Cody who stands at a height of 6'1, but that just gives him another season to learn and develop himself.
"I understand Why you want white boy Drew since I myself have never seen a player with more skills in his bag but why Isaiah Hill," Coach Mike asked feeling quite confused as to why his new colleague wanted to promote the 15-year-old Small forward. "Don't look at me like that, that's the kid's nickname," he quickly clarified after seeing the weird look he was getting from his boss.
With how politically correct the world is becoming he felt the need to clarify himself, cancel culture can be a bich. "Isaiah is an unrefined talent and he should grow faster in the varsity plus his long-range shooting is good enough for a role player for now." He explained outlining the benefits of having him train in their squad rather than waste time in JV.
What he didn't mention was the fact he didn't hold much hope for the Junior Drew. Despite being a year older he is only better than Isaiah in terms of experience and shooting. "I understand your thinking but those seniors who lost out on their spot won't be happy about this," Mike commented heartedly but Gracia could easily tell that he didn't mean it.
"Who cares about them, Let's move on to Shooting Guards," He simply said underlining 3 names whom he thought performed rather well during the trial. The 3 names he highlighted were Jake Williams (5'10, Senior age 17), Hakim Lyon (6'0, Sophmore age 15), and Callum Watkins (5'9, Senior age 17).
"I know both Jake and Callum from last year with the latter performing rather well last year," Mike commented with a smile talking about their performances, habits and strengths. He also explained that Callum seems to have grown as a player with his skills growing steadily.
"Yeah I prefer Callum out of the two, but what about this Hakim he seems to be a transfer student," Garcia asked hoping that his colleague knew something useful since he was quite impressed by the boy. Despite being a sophomore his abilities were off the chart almost as if he is in perfect condition to play in the playoffs.
Having led his last school to a state title he knew how players that are playoff-ready look. The fact he was only 15 amazed him when remembered the boy's skills on the ball. Although not yet at a level where he could take on a two-on-one marking, he is well on his way there. The boy dribbles the ball with a sharpness he hasn't seen in a high school kid in a while.
The fact that he was only 15 made his scalp tingle especially since his non-genic physical stats are phenomenal. Speed, Agility, Flexibility and shooting are all the best in the team. If he hadn't seen it himself and checked his school records he wouldn't have believed that he was that young.
"Sorry Boss I don't know him, why don't we ask his mother she is the new head coach for the football team," Mike responded with a nonchalant tone sounding unbothered as if this decision had nothing to do with him.
