CHAPTER 15: EXPECTAIONS VS REALITY

DREW.

Idiot!

Complete moron!

What was I fucking thinking?

Fucking fairy tale movies expecting everything to have happy endings!

I'd also thought it was absolutely ridiculous how a guy saves the girl in one of those weirdly cringe worthy movies and somehow they fall in love and end up living happily ever after, yet I'd hoped that maybe just maybe the same thing could happen to me but as always none of the things in those movies were ever real because falling in love and making someone love you back are two different things isn't it?

Fuck my stupid imaginative wishful thinking!

I'm so fucking stupid!

A mistake!

A fucking mistake is what she'd called it!

It's even worse knowing nothing actually happened between us last night but I'd hoped...I'd hoped? When did that start?

I'd always known I have feelings for Maya but when did I start hoping that we'd end up together?

Do I even have a shot with her?

To even think that after last night maybe things between us could be different? Not for her to fall head over heels for me or anything but that maybe she'd see me in a different light?

She had always hated my gut and I think I made everything worse when she woke up to me teasing her.

"You almost here, mate?"

"Yeah, pulling into the mansion's gate. Be there in a moment"

"Kay, see you in a bit" Min replied and there was a beep sound as he hung up the phone and I sighed pulling into the parking area and getting out of the car.

A lot of 'good mornings master Drew' echoed when I made my way into the mansion and I tried my best to return their greetings with a smile.

"There you are, darling. Min mentioned you were on your way"

"Yeah, just got off the phone with him actually. Good morning mother"

"Good morning baby" My mother said as i lowered myself into her outstretched arms and I sighed in content finding comfort in her warm embrace. Mom has always had this calm aura around her that just seems to somehow make everything better

"Thanks again for last night and I'm sorry for dragging you into this messy situation. It was my mess to handle, I mean I'm the adult i should have taken care of it before everything got so...messy" She apologized referring to last night's situation with Maya's dad.

"Glad I could help momma. And yeah...you could've handled the whole estranged father and daughter reunion situation better but hey! People make mistakes and you're people" I added teasingly and mom chuckled.

"Right! Go on then, I know they're waiting for you" She said nodding towards the west wing.

"Love you momma"

"I love you too baby! Tell the boys to stay away from the wine cellar at least till 12pm" She called after me as I bolted towards the west wing of the mansion laughing. I wasn't here last night till now so it has got to be Min in the wine cellar because Hossein in not much of a drinker.

So in case you're wondering about what the west wing is, the mansion has four wings. The north wing's for my parents, the south wing's where all the domestic staffs live with their families if they choose to, the east wing's for guests and whatnot while the west wing as you've probably guessed by now is for the guys and I including Maya of course whenever she's home.

Each wing of the mansion is big enough as a stand alone house capable of accommodating a lot of people with its own kitchen, sitting room and bathrooms. Being the amazing human being mom is of course she makes sure every wing's always packed with everything we need to get by daily.

"Oi, coming in mate?" Min called out to me as I stood in front of our wing.

"You good, brother?" Hossein asked handing me a cup of tea as he dropped next to me on the sofa.

"I'm good man, thanks for the tea" he made an 'hmm!' sound before kicking of his loafers and tucking his feet under himself on the sofa and I smiled at him knowingly when he raised both eyebrows at me. That's so Hossein I thought, always so extra with everything.

While Min is the more outspoken one in the group, Hossein likes to keep to himself but he will always show up whenever we need him no questions asked. I sometimes feel like I'm not doing enough as his best friend and brother. But over the years I've come to understand the kind of person he is and though I still feel like that sometimes I know for a fact that he does that because he doesn't want us to worry about him so Min and I have learned to be more attentive and pick up on any signs that can help us be there for him whenever he needs us.

"How long are you going to drag this out mate? Spill already, I'm dying to know what happened momma wouldn't tell us anything" Min sassed stomping his foot like the big baby he is and Hossein rolled his eyes.

"Sod off would ya? He just got here."

"Momma wouldn't tell you guys anything because there's nothing to tell. Now, please let me have my tea in peace"

"Oh c'mon! Phones were blowing up everywhere last because Maya had gone missing supposedly. That can't be nothing" He full on whine and Hossein sighs saying...

"Just tell him already, you know he won't shut up unless you do" Min flipped him the bird as he finished speaking and I laughed.

"So apparently Maya's dad had been trying to reach out to her for months but she wouldn't give him the time of the day so he decided to surprise her by coming here and Maya didn't take it well so, yeah!" Hossein scrunched his nose obviously not very pleased with what he heard.

"No way! Didn't he like abandoned her and her mother or something?" Min asked.

"Yeah, something" I said sipping my tea.

"It's a good thing you found her when you did eh?"

"It's a good thing Hossein knew where she was. Thanks for that by the way" Hossein nods raising his cup of tea in acknowledgement and I sipped mine allowing the warm liquid to bury the bitter feeling steering up in the pit of my stomach when I remembered what Maya said about the only person who would have been able find her in that bar would be her favorite person in the whole wide world.
