After spotting the cave Luke's motive was to kill all the wolves living inside it without going through the effort of battling them in small groups or all at a time. So he devised a strategy to roll the logs down into the lair, and the rolling logs would do the work for him in killing the wolves.

In Luke's opinion, tossing a log down was not a new idea because players may meet similar sorts of traps in dungeons, such as rolling logs and rolling boulders approaching behind them.

Luke simply recreated the trap, but the target was the beast, and as a form of guarantee, he decided to throw five logs, the sixth of which was burning, because a burning log can break easily while falling down compared to a normal log because the wood elemental mana that was giving the rock toughness would lose its effect under the Fire elemental mana.
