Crushing a King!

" How are you feeling Sue?"

Clark asked the woman as he laced his boots.

" I'm fine Clark, I told you what happened back the plant wasn't your fault. I shouldn't have tried to trap you in the first place."

Sue said to the man.

" No, Sue... I mean about Reed. I know how you feel... Because I feel the same way about Jen every day."

Clark said as he placed his hand gently on the woman's shoulder.

Sue grabbed Clark's hand and looked down in sadness as she thought about her broken marriage.

" How do you do it Clark? How do you find the strength to keep moving forward even when the one you fight is the one you loved?"

Sue asked the man.

" I think about all of the people who count on me. I have to have the courage to do what needs to be done. And I will do it no matter the personal cost. Even if the world turns against me Sue. I will never stop fighting for what's right."

Clark said to the woman.

" But that doesn't mean we aren't allowed to experience pain Sue. We are still at the end of the day human."

Clark said to the woman as he brushed a strand of her golden locks out of her face.

Clark could feel the woman's face heating up and her heart beating faster. So, he removed his hand from the woman's face.

" Thank you, Clark. I think I needed that."

Sue said to the man.

" No, problem Sue. Now, come on. We have to meet with the great Namor."

Clark said air quoting the great.

" Clark, just be careful. We can't afford a war with Atlantis."

Sue said to the man.

" I got it, Sue. I promise I won't do anything to offend Namor as long as he doesn't try to assert his dominance over me."

Clark said to the woman as they began to descend to the ocean floor.

As they lowered, they found themselves surrounded by the Atlantean elite guard.

" Halt Intruders what business do you have with Atlantis?"

One of the men asked.

Clark swam up to the man and told him what they were here for.

" We have come seeking an audience with King Namor. We wish to discuss the possibility of him helping us."

Clark said to the man.

The guard swam back a few feet and radioed Namor

" I see, my king has allowed this audience. Follow us."

The Atlantean said as he swam towards the royal palace.

Sue swam up to Clark and smirked at the man before following the Atlantean to the royal throne room, where Namor sat on his clam shaped throne.

" Thank you for seeing us on such short notice, Namor. I know your court prefers to follow royal protocols, but we haven't got much time. The rebel team's raid is planned for tonight and everyone else has turned us down. Having you could mean the difference between winning or losing."

Susan said to the man hoping he would agree to work with the rebels.

Namor smirked and looked down on his two visitors before speaking.

" Your majesty."

Namor said to the woman.

" What?"

Susan asked.

" I believe that's the correct term when you're addressing a foreign dignitary, Mrs. Richards."

Namor said to the woman angering her and Clark slightly for being overlooked.

" Don't play games, Namor. This is the gravest crisis we've ever faced. They've draft, and they're imprisoning people who don't comply. Can you believe they're actually recruiting villains to bring us in?"

Susan asked in anger.

" You talk like it matters, Susan. Power struggles on your little mound are as meaningless to me as the tides are to you. The death of my cousin Namorita was all that mattered and the person responsible for that has been dealt with privately."

Namor explained to the two as he got up from his seat.

" But cap's one of your oldest friends."

Susan yelled.

" And where is this friend now? Trying to make deals with the X-Men or Stephen Strange while he sends you here with puppy-dog eyes? Tell this new master of yours I have no interest in helping a man who would take advantage of our special relationship."

Namor said to the woman as he got in her face.

" Okay, that's close enough."

Superman said to Namor.

" What are you talking about? We don't have a relationship."

Susan said to the man

" I can feel your heartbeat through the waters Mrs. Richards. And it tells a very different story than the lies from your lips."

Namor said as he placed his hand on Susans breathing mask right where her lips would be.

She jerked away from Namor and glared at the man.

" Don't touch me."

Susan declared.

" What's the matter? Reed isn't here Susan. Why are you afraid?"

Namor asked as he reached for Susan again.

Though Clark quickly grabbed the man's hand.

" She said not to touch her again."

Clark said to the man.

Namor turned and slammed his fist into Clark's jaw sending him flying across the hall and smashing into the wall.

" Don't touch me!"

Namor yelled.

" CLARK!"

Susan yelled out in terror as the man was swatted away.

Clark burst from the wall eyes aglow and ready to fight.

Namor swam towards him to attack but was speared by clark and slammed through a nearby wall.

" You're stronger than Ms. Marvel. Show me what you can do almighty king!"

Clark said as he punched Namor in his face knocking him up and out of the water.

Namor used his winged feet to recover himself as Clark burst from the water.

The two powerhouses rushed each other and locked hands together and started pushing against each other in an attempt to overpower the other.

" You dare come to my home and attack me! I will have your head for this Superman."

Namor declared as he pushed against the man of steel.

" You are strong Namor. But you aren't strong enough to beat me."

Clark declared as he punched Namor in his face knocking him higher and higher into the air.

" I will kill you for this!"

Namor threatened.

" So, you keep saying, Namor. And yet. Here I am!"

Clark said as he got directly into Namor's face.

The mighty king of Atlantis pulled back and punched Clark as hard as he could in the jaw, but the punch seemed to have little affect other than moving Clark's head. Clark retaliated by slamming both his fists into Namor's stomach before hammering him with both hands together back down into the seas below.

Susan looked on in horror as Namor landed violently back in his throne room.

Namor went to get to his feet but was immediately divebombed and slammed further into the ground by the man of steel.

" Clark!"

The woman called out to the man.

Clark turned to see the woman swimming towards him in a panic.

" Enough! He said no. Let's just go."

Susan said to the man.

Clark looked down at his defeated foe and turned to join the woman.

" Are you okay Sue?"

Clark asked the woman as they flew out of the water.

" I'm fine. Thank you... For what you did back there. But you didn't have to."

Susan said to the man.

Clark stopped flying and hovered in the air. He pulled Susan's face up to his and looked her in the eyes before speaking.

" I wasn't going to let him hurt you, Susan."

Clark said to the woman.

Susan looked up at the man and felt something she hadn't felt in years from her husband. A sense of adoration, of care, of genuine concern.

" Thank you, Clark."

The woman said again.

" No, Problem. Come on. Let's get back to the others and tell them the royal jackass isn't going to join."

Clark said making the woman laugh.

The two flew off towards their base getting ready for their raid on the Negative Zone.
