Chapter 12 An old acquaintance and the banquet
Aurelius pov
"Hello everyone, my name is Valerie nice to meet you." The girl sent to Slytherin frankly greets the table and sits next to Cederic.
The others also greet her nicely and when I shake her hand I ask her if we haven't met before.
"Aurelius was your name? I can't remember." She looked away quickly, somewhat mysteriously, and I used my Occlumency to search for a face that resembled her.
"The Avery family, a loyal pure-blood family isn't it?" Ave asks and speaks for the first time while I'm still staring at Valerie making her embarrassed.
Cedric also looked at me a little confused, but when I had it I snapped my fingers in recognition.
Before she can even answer I reveal the memory I had with her.
"Oh yes, Valerie, Valerie, you introduced yourself as Val at the pureblood ball two years ago. You wore a purple dress with black accents, your long gloves were white and we danced but you fell down-"
My friend next to me interrupted me as he elbowed me in the pit of my stomach. But when Dumbledore the Headmaster rose from his seat at the Headmaster's table, everyone looked at him.
"I am pleased to welcome so many new faces to our school, for those who do not know I am Albus Dumbledore the Headmaster.
Our caretaker, Argus Filch, asked me to remind you that magic is not allowed in the corridors.
Oh yes, and also every student should be careful of the forest, it is not called forbidden forest for nothing and those who have no death wish should behave.
But now enough, I wish you a good appetite and last but not least, bibidi-babidi-DU"
The clapping and cheering started again and I just thought 'What a senile old man.'
In the middle of the clapping, ghost figures came from every direction, all with interesting clothing, and the bloody baron sat down with us, as I was later told.
At the Gryffindor table, I heard from a serene Nicholas who is almost headless. The weasleys made a joke out of it. Karma quickly followed when a poltergeist named Peeves dumped them both with a cream cake and their faces were full of it.
The twins took it in humor and ate the cake off their own faces while their big brother could only frown. Without looking inside his head, I noticed how he doubted being related to the two at the same moment.
The baron strolled around and sat down away from the table and looked into the emptiness.
When plates full of food of all kinds showed up, I was more convinced. The plates in front of me on the table were overloaded with food.
There is Roast beef, roast chicken, pork and lamb chops, sausages, ham, steaks, jacket potatoes, roast potatoes, chips, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard and peppermint sweets for a better breath.
Cederic and I looked at each other and grabbed our favorite food straight away I grabbed two chicken breasts, some peas and carrots and started eating.
Cederic took a beef steak and a few slices of cucumber cut into small pieces. I pour water into the goblet and when I drank it tasted like I was drinking cherry juice.
But every time I put it down and started again it was a different fruity taste. Cherry, apple, pear, orange and my favorite flavor the passion fruit.
"Cederic this water is magical try it." I promise him and pour some into his goblet as he struggles to cut the meat with a knife and fork.
"magical you say, I have to try that too." Adrian says in disbelief as he pours it in and takes a sip.
"Hmm yummy pineapple."
We filled our bellies and got to know each other. In the end, after I had eaten something new for the second time, I was filled to the brim and tiredness spread in my head.
It was the moment when the headmaster stood up with a big smile and started to speak again.
"Um - now that we are all fed and watered, Those interested in playing quidditch for their house team please contact Madam Hooch and the team captains during the second week of schoo.
Now, before we go to bed, let's sing the school anthem," Dumbledore called out.
Dumbledore gave his wand a little flick, as if he was trying to get a fly off the end, and a long golden ribbon flew out of it, which rose high above the tables and twisted itself, snakelike, into words.
"Everyone pick their favorite tune," said Dumbledore, "and off we go!"
And the school bellowed:
"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
just do your best,
we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot."
Everybody finished the song at different times. Extremely unforgivable to expose us to such danger hearing this.
'If this song is supposed to have the same effect as the cruciatus curse, it was successful across the board.'
"Ah, music," he said, wiping his eyes. "A magic beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot!"
the now sparkling clean cutlery and plates disappeared as they came and all the students got up.
"Slytherin first graders to me!"
An older girl and boy called to us while our other classmates were already leaving the great hall. We gathered at the two students, obviously as their badge says, they were prefects.
"Follow me to the common room."
The girl was in the front and the other prefect was in the back. I walked next to Cederic and we followed her.
