Solo Mission

December 18th 2020

Two days had passed since I left Lily behind.

I needed some time to think for myself and consider whether or not I wanted to let her tag along or not, since that day I've been doing things alone again... like old times. I really need to control my anger more but it could wait, after I left Lily behind I went to go find more clues on where I could find Grin Scurvy, I received intel on one of Grin's former right hand men, his name is Pop, a toaster pastry that quit working with Grin for several reason, I was on my way to look for this guy and try to get anymore clues on Grin besides the fact he was at Killerpatty Park.

There I was, on the east side district of hamburgs, it was largely built for tourist but because of the great disappearance it never fulfilled its purpose and it was left to the people of hamburgs but they didn't want to touch it so the gangs and mobs of the city took control of it and city official let them take it, damn them all.

I needed to be extremely careful here cause one mistake could result in a shootout or worse, it felt weird talking to myself again after just socializing with people since a long time.

I was looking for an abandoned luxurious hotel, that should be where Pop stayed, "Atom?" I called him out, he instantly appeared, "Yeah, what's up?" He tells me, "I need you to scout through the building and tell me where Pop is, remember he's a toaster pastry." I ordered Atom like usual, "You got it boss, One toaster pastry coming up." Atom tells me as he quickly heads to the building, Atom can float really fast, quicker than a bullet so it'd be impossible for him to get caught unlike me, I'd usually just run and gun into the building but it's just too risky this time.

I knew Atom would take a while to search through the entire building so I might as well take some time to think on whether I should invite Lily back into the search for Grin, "maybe she didn't mean for me to solve her school problem that day?" I debated with myself trying to find a conclusion, "I do feel sorry for her, she's like me just when it came to the great disappearance, we both want revenge on the killer that murdered our loved ones." I continued to say, " maybe I'll give her-" suddenly I was interrupted by Atom, "Hey boss!" He said, hopefully he didn't hear everything I said, "There are six thousands four hundred and eleven people in the building and I managed to find our guy, he located on the fifty second floor with eight people on that floor including Pop, The best way to sneak in is to going to the west side of the building and head to the staircase instead of the elevators since the elevators are either broken down or heavily used." Atom explained everything to me, "Alright then, lets find our guy and interrogate him for clues on Grin." I said to Atom as we made our way to the west side of the Hotel.

The back entrance was locked, I didn't want to shoot it open or kick it open otherwise it'll alert everyone, "Atom, go to the otherside of the door and open it." I requested of him, "Okie Dokie!" Atom said as he passed through the locked door, Click!, the door was open, "Careful Oliver, there's two guys near the staircase we plan to go to." Atom notified me, I guess it was time for the double silent takedown, we both silently got up to the two thugs and Wham!, choked them to a unconscious state, "Good job Atom, now lets go." I praised him for a job well done, we entered the staircase thinking this would all be easy but this had to be the hardest part yet, "Atom?" I said as he appeared, "what floor did you say Pop was on?" I questioned him, "The fifty second floor." He answered, we both stayed silent as we looked up the staircase, this was the hardest battle to win out of everything.

How long has it been? Felt like I've been climbing this thing for centuries now, "Atom, what floor are we on now?" I asked him hoping for a good sign, "The twenty-third." He replied back, "god dammit." I thought to myself, I had to keep enduring this hell until I reached the fifty second floor.

"How about now Atom?" I asked him after a while of climbing stairs, my legs were tired and I wanted to go to sleep, "We're on the fifty first floor now." He replied back, thank god now all I have to do is climb one more set of stairs and its done. We reached the fifty second floor, now to find Pop and get something from him to find Grin Scurvy.

"Careful Oliver, three guys up ahead, two more in the room to the right of them and three more to the left which includes Pop." Atom warned me before I did anything, I checked my pistol's ammo, eight bullets to spend and incase I miss, I can always resort to the claw, "Alright Atom lets do this." I said to him as I began my siege. I decided to run and gun it this time, BAM!, I kicked down the down which surprised the three guys in the room, I took aim... Bang Bang Bang!, three bullets for three guys spent, just five left.

Four thugs entered the room I was at and began to open fire with machine guns, I sat there listening as bullets flew by when suddenly; Click! Click! Click!, that meant they were all out of bullets, I sent out Atom to take care of a few of them while I took aim, Bang! Bang!, two bullets gone which meant two thugs were dead, Atom ended up taking out two of the thugs too which meant that Pop was all that was left. I walked over to the room Pop was in, I began to turn the door knob when suddenly Atom yelled out "Oliver duck!" I quickly ducked as a bullet went through the door almost hitting me in the head, "Atom restrain him!" I yelled out as I stayed behind the door, I could begin to hear yelling "Let go of me!" I presumed it to be Pop.

once again I opened to door to see Pop's hand behind his back as Atom restrained him, I kept my gun pointed at him, "Alright Pop, tell me anything you know on Grin Scurvy and I'll consider letting you live." I ordered Pop, he looked at me funny, "ha, and who exactly are you a hero?" Pop mockingly said to me, I always hated getting called a hero, "your awfully old to be playing hero kid, I ain't telling you anything about the boss." He said to me, Pop must've had a death-wish, Bang!, I shot him straight in the knee, "I have 2 more bullets don't think I wont waste them on you." I warned him but it didn't go through with him, "Like I said hero, I ain't telling you ANYTHING about the boss." He said as I hear him make a crunching noise with his teeth, just then a greenish foam began to come out of his mouth and suddenly he was dead just like that, "Dammit!" I yelled out as I slammed my fist against the wall, "Oh great overlord..." Atom said in horror, "it seems that Pop had a false tooth with a poison that would kill him if bitten down which essentially made it a suicide tooth." Atom explained to me as he investigated his body, looks like I couldn't get anything on Grin this time but soon I will, he will pay with his life for what he's done. "Alright Atom lets go back." I said to him as we began our long decent to the ground floor, now all that has to be done is see Lily again.
