Aster, the Living Solar System

TLDR: *Based only loosely on the events of Dragon Ball and the other series that will be referenced *Each volume will only be 6-10 chapters *MC won't be a saiyan for Volume 2, but will regain their form in Volume 3 (Chapter 15-ish) Long version: This is a story about a saiyan child born two hundred years after the events of DBZ, at the beginning of the Dragon Ball Online story, said by Toriyama to be his "true" ending to Dragon Ball. This is my way of giving back to the late author, where I also add in several of my favorite characters from various anime and manga. That said, I am tweaking them to make their stories better fit the mechanics of Dragon Ball. Basic summary of plot: Shin is trying to honor the legacy of the late Goku and Vegeta, but he makes a mistake that ends with the main character finding themselves in the body of the fallen Prince Sadalla. Sadalla, who wants to be like his idols Goku and Vegeta, chooses to go on a journey to reach Super Saiyan.

The Second Planet

Sadalla wanted to begin making his next planet, but each time he thought he could, he found the world facing a new crisis. In 1300 BC, all of civilization in the Mediterranean basin nearly collapsed, and then the region was engulfed by fire for nearly a millennium afterwards until a power called Persia conquered much of the area from the Indus River to the Nile, and north to Anatolia and a region called the Caucuses Mountains.

Fire again engulfed the region just three hundred years later when Persia collapsed, with the man responsible leaving only ashes in his wake, and dying with no successor ready to succeed him. This same cycle kept happening across the world, and even the "Pokémon" as the inhabitants had begun to call them, only managed to get caught in the crossfire.

It seemed that in changing the saiyans, he had made them a little too human, although Sadalla didn't know whether that was necessarily worse than the people who destroyed their own planet. Despite being weaker, their ruthless cunning may have actually made them leagues more dangerous than the saiyans.

Time marched onward, and Sadalla prepared to take his focus away from his first planet. He had chosen the "Earth" template for the second world, and was tallying up the SP he had earned from his first planet. He could vaguely categorize them by the number of major cities per civilization, but he had no hope of actually counting them all. He simply saw the total SP was 500,000, and left it at that.

Sadalla chose to place the new planet on the opposite side of himself from the first planet. He did this to prevent them from knowing about each other, but more to limit the impacts on the first planet's rotation and gravity. He used 10,000 SP to make a copy of Luna, and placed it similarly to where his first planet's moon was relative to it.

He started by creating two new lifeforms, the Elemental Dragons, and the Magi. The Magi were pretty much just humans with a natural affinity for the same energy that Pokémon used, and the dragons used a similar, but generally stronger variant of the same energy. Sadalla also flooded the world with his two hundred thousand basic lifeforms from his first main task.

Making a planet livable is extremely complex and arduous, but Sadalla knew from his experience on the first planet that there were a few organisms that had a higher importance. First up was the trees to cycle carbon, oxygen, and water. Then the fungi and bacteria to break down the tissue of dead or dying trees.

Algae was a necessity in the water, as well as smaller fish to control the algae's population. Larger predators would keep the smaller fish from devouring all of the algae, while land predators and herbivores would keep the trees from blocking starlight and killing younger or smaller plants. Sadalla couldn't take the time to slowly build up ecosystems due to the rapid expansion of human civilization on the first planet, so he selected a few basic trees, fungi, algae, herbivores, and predators, and manipulated their genomes (with help from his system templates) to allow them to adapt much more easily to a world that they were not ready for.

After nearly six hundred years, Sadalla felt that the new planet was ready. It was very much in a primal state, but it already resembled the world of the first planet during the period of rapid growth for the humans. Like the Mew before them, the new lifeforms had adapted to the second planet with astonishing speed. The natural energy had helped the already unstable genomes of the colony species to adapt to the planet and begin showing signs of diversification. Nearly thirty generations had passed for every initial species, with the bacteria and fungi reaching beyond 10,000 and 300 generations respectively.

Sadalla was not confident in his new planet's survivability, but he was impatient. On the first planet, a guy named Atilla the Hun had just knocked on the gates of the two halves of the Roman Empire, which had been a brutal empire that killed massive numbers of people in the name of order and public security, but Atilla himself did many of the same things, and it was becoming clear that what little stability Rome had brought to the western reaches of Afro-Eurasia was quickly falling apart.

Sadalla knew that he was rushing, but he chose to introduce the dragons and magi to the world before things truly popped off on the first planet. Boy was he right to worry. The dragons, magi, and various descendants of the colony species were not peaceful. The colony species had developed much like the Pokémon, but with notably lower intelligence. Many Pokémon exhibited emotions similar to those of humans, and had a distinct level of sentience and a weird morality. The new species didn't have anything like that near-sentience. Many were plenty intelligent, but remained more monstrous and wild than sentient and emotive.
