Duncan quietly observed "Niru," which was placed in a box.
The jointed doll was just a very ordinary one, reminiscent of the "court maiden" style popular in the City-State a century ago, with beautiful golden curls and a lace-adorned dress. The joints in her arms were the old-fashioned spherical type, even more evident than those of Alice. Her face was made of porcelain, displaying the old-fashioned characteristic seams at the mouth and eyes.
Frankly, the doll was exquisitely made and kept in exceedingly good condition, making it hard to believe that it had been lying in a box for a century. Though it couldn't compare with Alice, whose doll-like appearance was almost indistinguishable from a real person, this little one named "Niru" could also be described as beautiful.
A hundred years ago, Lukrecia had bought another doll "Luny" from this shop, a pair with this little one, and now, "Niru," who had been left behind, was lying quietly in the box, lying in front of Duncan.
