Deadly Battle

As Vali followed the guard towards the dungeons, the atmosphere in the realm took a sudden turn.

A few explosions took place among the market regions of Asgard with several injured, that alerted the guards to move towards the cause of the commotion.

'A classic distraction scenario that kept most guards as busy and away from the dungeons as possible', he thought as he coldly analyzed the current situation. He held back on using his 'truth eyes' as he knew that the magical fluctuations caused by it, would probably alert the man who was leading him.

Though he knew it was almost time to remove all pretenses, he patiently waited for his prey to make the first move. He knew that walking into the trap would give the opponent the initiative to make preparations against him. They could use an artifact to isolate him from the rest of the realm or even try to teleport him away from Asgard.

But he knew that he had to take the risk to get rid of Amora, not that he wanted to do it this way. She was a being that spent more than a decade testing the waters, just so that she could find the best time to move against him.

At this point, he could conclude that he was her target even though he failed to analyze her motives. He had a few clues to what it could be such as her being manipulated by a higher being, but even he wouldn't have been able to guess what goes on in the head of an obsessed mad woman.

He had to take her out in one go, to prevent her from escaping. He had bigger fish to fry and gods to slaughter, and he wasn't going to leave behind any variables in the form of a recurring villain. Since she plotted against him, not hesitating to cause severe losses to the realm to do so, she was dangerous.

And that would mean that she could go on to cause severe changes in the timeline, that would hinder all the plans he had laid out to grow in power.

She had to disappear without causing a single ripple, even though it might take a while to set things straight after her using Jotunheim and almost starting a war. He could always manipulate scenarios from behind the background to make sure the timeline remained as close to original as possible, as it would have been without his birth.

So, he will have to be extremely ruthless to himself and his enemy this time, going as far as to lose a few limbs if needed, to get rid of this problem. He knew that a person that planned this far, wouldn't underestimate him too much and would bring enough firepower to get rid of him as soon as possible.

As he processed his thoughts, he could see the dungeons in the distance. He soon adjusted his mind after calculating that he was approaching the best spot for an ambush.

He could see the guard's fingers twitch, as the guard slyly turned around went for his weapon but couldn't get far before the guard was 'spartan kicked' in the chest by Vali. The silver haired prince soon flooded his eyes with magic and spotted tears in space, a few hundred meters from him on top of a hill.

Not wasting any time, he kicked off the ground before slamming his foot on the nape of the guard who had just fallen to ground, rendering him unconscious, completely uncaring of his life and death.

He soon turned around, looking towards the unstable tears in space and saw a dozen beings step out of them. They were huge, their heights ranging from 11-15ft with completely pale blue skin from head to toe. They exuded an icy cold aura, which could be seen from the frost on their bodies as they held onto ice spears and spikes with their arms. They could probably be mistaken for undead beings without emotions, if not for their constantly moving eyes.

These dozen frost giants finally stepped out of the tunnel and moved aside to show an alluring woman with green eyes. As soon as Amora stepped through and saw the fallen guard beside Vali's feet, she knew that the useless fool at failed. No matter, at the least he succeeded in luring the prince here, she thought.

She looked towards the 7ft tall, glossy silver haired, well-built Prince and she had to admit that he was a handsome god. It tormented her heart to behead such a beautiful being, but the look in his eyes irked her for some reason. 'I'll definitely dig out those invasive eyes of his after I'm done killing him' she thought before asking her mind-controlled puppet giants to kill him instantly as the guards might arrive any minute now.

They might have their mind's enthralled, but their battle instincts and combat prowess were completely intact. They rushed down the hill one by one building decent momentum, positioning their ice spears to skewer the youngest prince.

[Vali's POV]

Looking at the ten frost giants rushing towards me, my thoughts raced as I prepared myself for the inevitable collision. I could deal with all of them given time, which I obviously don't have. Looking at how impatient Amora was at finishing the battle, I knew that stalling till reinforcements arrived wouldn't be possible.

Not that I was betting on their help though, as I needed her to underestimate me and drop her guard a little, so that I could cut her off from teleporting out of the realm. I haven't had the time to prepare a solution to deal with her fleeing through space, and I'd blame not being able to start my education early for that as I knew little to none about the intricacies of space or how she got here.

I'd have to do it the original way, and lob off her head before she has a chance to flee. Guess I'll have to keep 'truth eyes' open for any fluctuations in space, as that was the only crude way I had going for me.

I brought my thoughts back for the battle reaching for my dual blades, as I saw the 3 giants on the frontline rush forward at about the same time and reach in with their bulky arms to pierce me with their long ice spears.

Schlukkkk!

Shlinkkkk!

Sphlhttttt!

I dodged the first spear that came at head with air splitting sounds, by tilting my head to the left and unsheathing my dual blades, using them to deflect the other two spear heads that came at my torso. They found me positioned with my blades in a 'X-crossed' position in front of my chest, and my legs wide apart as I was pushed back on my toes.

I soon kicked off the ground before they could even react, flinging one of my blades which soon found itself lodged in the first frost giant's head. Before they could recover, I managed to get back the blade I lost and started moving around constantly utilizing my superior speed, preventing them from surrounding me.

[POV ends]

Rumours spoke of Vali as a great warrior, who could defeat all his instructors with ease. Amora had taken them with a grain of salt, after thinking about how young he was, without any real battle experience and his instructors probably held back a lot.

After watching him battle like the veteran he was, and figuring he wasn't going down any time soon, Amora decided to intervene in the battle to avoid any delays. He had already killed a strong frost giant and was holding his own pretty well amongst the 'so called' strongest frost giants. 'USELESS' she thought.

After raging over how ineffective they were, she soon calmed down with a ruthless expression on her face and magic flooded her body making her more alluring. Vali who had one eye on her, noticed the rapid decrease in her vitality and quickly came to several conclusions. He kept his guard up as he had just used the tanky arms of a frost giant, as a foothold before slitting its throat. He then went on to overpower 2 other humongous frost giants by elbowing their chests, which resulted in them being blown away with collapsed airways.

Amora used this split second to prepare a powerful spell, that would freeze the thoughts of the target which would prove deadly in a battle. But she underestimated Vali who never let her off his sights, as he was alert the second his eyes warned him of the immense flood of magic which was probably the preparation of a spell.

Not wanting to face the possibly deadly magic, he positioned himself not unlike an Olympic athlete about to throw a javelin, before launching one of his blades in Amora's direction. Amora who was taken aback by the sudden attack, barely managed to move out of the way preventing the blade from removing her arm. She wasn't unscathed though, as it left behind a deep gash on her shoulder.

Enraged by the sudden attack and the fact that, her pawns on the other side of the realm had just warned her of enemy reinforcements, she let go of all her sanity and boosted her magic by seemingly harming her body and soul. The Frost giants seemingly being injected with chicken blood, threw caution to the wind and threw their bodies at Vali, with madness in their eyes and a complete disregard for their lives.

One of the frost giants was willing to grab hold of him with both of his arms, only to fail and get his head chopped off. Just as Vali was about to finish the rest, he was bombarded with bewitching magic that attempted to erode his will during the battle. The split second was enough for the frost giants to leave behind a bloody gash on his waist with cruel expressions on their faces.

He barely held on against the giants using his immense will to shield his mind and survive the battle. Vali was getting annoyed as the bombardments on his mind were getting stronger and he wanted to hold on to the little control he had, that was preventing him from snapping. Once that happened he was confident that he could gut them on the spot and dismember them limb by limb, but there was a high chance that Amora would escape after seeing it happen.

Just as he was in a dilemma, he heard Heimdall's whisper informing him about the incoming reinforcements. That pretty much confirmed why Amora threw caution to wind and went all out with the self-harming methods.

He immediately asked Heimdall for help with preventing her escape, and the gatekeeper true to his name, informed him that he could lock down the space around the region of the battle for a few minutes with the help of the bifrost. Vali who was amazed, wasted no time asking him to do it when he had just avoided a body blow from a giant and backed off.

The corners of his lips twitched, before he gave the frost giants a deep bloodthirsty smile. Now that he could go all out, he let go off the tether that held his mind in place and prevented him from murdering everyone around him in rage.

Many Asgardians on this sleepless night, would come to know and truly understand what Vali Odinson was the GOD of. Those blessed enough to have seen his true form, would shiver when they reminisced of the bone chilling 'God of Vengeance'.
