CHAPTER 5: Do you believe me?

 " Yes child, your wedding has been fixed. It's the day after tomorrow "

 Immediately, princess Lily heard that, her eyes widened. ' so soon ' she thought 

 " The sooner the better, don't you think ?" the prince who was supposed to be her husband asked . It felt like he could read her thoughts 

 " Your husband would show you around . Get acquainted with the castle ,hmm? " the king concluded and dismissed all his sons. 

 " I am honoured, your majesty " princess Lily replied with a bow. 

 As soon as they were out of the king's sight. Prince Royce approached them .

 " Congratulations, Rian. Finally, you're getting married. The King's favorite is about to become a husband " prince Royce mocked 

 " Are you done, brother? " Rian asked with a straight face 

 " You should be ashamed that because of you and your wife father has to go through all the trouble to invite dignitaries again " Royce said with contempt. He was furious that his father decided to push through with the wedding, he was furious that his father favoured Rian more, he was furious that Rian's wife was more beautiful and smarter than his. Everything about his younger brother made him mad. 

 " Royce, control your self. If father wishes it to be so ,then you have no choice to oblige. Rian is your younger brother, sincerely congratulate him " prince Rufus , their eldest brother adviced .

 " No brother, you can appeal to the king to listen to your words. You're just not in the position to do that since you've lost your legs " prince Royce smirked and left angrily . Prince Rufus face immediately became dark. 

 " Don't mind him brother " Rian said while looking sympathetically at his elder brother 

 " I don't. I just happen to mind the fact that my two younger brothers do not give me the respect I deserve because of my legs ". And after saying that, he disappeared . 

 Princess Lily's eyes widened in shock at what just happened. ' So it was true , Ashty really practiced sorcery ' she thought 

 " Not actually sorcery, magic is embedded in our blood . " Rian explained and Lily's eyes widened more. Why did she feel that he could read her thoughts? Rian smiled and continued " It's part of our ancestral heritage. All men from Royal descent are born with this powers " 

 " Only men from royal descent? " Lily asked again because of the rumours she'd heard 

 " Yes. " he replied " what did you hear? " 

 Right now, Rian was walking so fast that Lily had to run to meet up with him. Rian noticed this and started walking slowly so they could walk together .

 " I heard that the kingdom practiced dark magic that in turn caused their success " Lily answered 

 " Hmm, and do you believe it? " he asked, his ocean eyes boring themselves into her sky blue ones. Something about him was intriguing and the more she looked at him, the more she wanted to know about him. 

 " I really don't know what to believe, your highness " Lily answered looking at the ground like it was the most precious thing at that moment 

 " I suppose I have to make you believe me " Rian said and closed the distance between them . Her breath hitched because he was so close . Lily closed her eyes only to feel Rian's hand on the side of her hair. 

 " It's a red rose . Do you know how you look right now? " he asked 

 " No "

 " You look beautiful " he said and her heart skipped a beat " but you can never be too sure of my answer until you see for yourself "
