29 Ambush

As Carol and Raynard fought against the horde of hobgoblins. I had reached an area close to them. I could see their figures.

I had Pektog go with some goblins to lure away the hobgoblins.

"I will be dealing with Dahziekt personally, you wipe out their hobgoblin archer and help your troops kill the other hobgoblins," I said to Pektog

Raynard and Carol were struck with more arrows. One of them getting into Carol's left shoulder. The other hobgoblins took a wait and see approach as the archer handled them.

The goblins and I had approached within 50 meters, and I used my magic eyes to survey the situation. Raynard and Carol were failing and bleeding more and more.

'Che, useless I expected them to last much longer.' I said as I looked over in arrogance

'They at most have stats at 10 or 11, how utterly pathetic improvement.'

'You only call it pathetic because of your ridiculous levels of improvement.' Drrak said to me

As I spoke to Drrak I felt a someone looking at me in rage. They weren't moving but I could feel the anger and power. I turned and saw a goblin sitting in a tree as he stared at me.

'Shit it's too early.' I thought as I looked over at Pektog approaching the hobgoblin archer.

The hobgoblin in the tree screeched loudly in beast script.

"Pektog's tribe has allied with the humans. kill them all especially you Ulbrag."

As he said that the hobgoblin archer turned around and faced the hobgoblin in the tree. He shook his head yes, and looked around to find Pektog.

'No wonder we smelled the blood of goblins, they were trying to lure us. But how is that human-related to this?' Thought the hobgoblin in the tree as he stared at me.

He felt a sharp wave of aura emanate from the human boy. His physique wasn't threatening, just his aura.

At that moment Ulbrag saw Pektog and his goblins approached. He raised his bow and fired not at Pektog but his goblins. The arrow went through the head of one of the goblins.

Pektog's face distorted in anger, he was about to run forward and smash the tree, when Ulbrag readied his arrow again and targeted another goblin.

Pektog followed the path of the arrow and blocked it using his armor and body. The arrow lodged in the light armor and some of Pektog's skin.

'Pektog wants revenge but not the unnecessary death of his tribe it seems.' I thought as I looked at Pektog's combat.

'Well, I have to do my part as well, if it fails I have the assurance to escape anyways.' With that, I left the rest of trouble to Pektog as I looked at the hobgoblin in the tree.

His Chain armor shined and his blood thirst intensified. But I didn't avert my gaze as my murderous heart, and chaotic aura accelerated.

I unsheathed the void sword, as it howled in response to my bloodlust. I put all of my force into my foot as I shot off it, and zigzag through a bunch of trees changing my direction but accelerating faster and faster.

I moved towards to hobgoblin at monumental speeds and swung my sword at it.

**************************

At the moment that my sword was swing at the Dahziekt, Raynard had lost balance and a club smashed his head. Carol was horrified but she kept dodging and through Raynard's body at an incoming hobgoblin.

The hobgoblin archer left them alone, but then the hobgoblins stopped taking a wait and see approach.

They started to attack her and Raynard in a frenzy and they experienced more blood loss. A hobgoblin's club hit a side and propelled her away a meter.

As the hobgoblins approached with murderous gazes, a ring of light appeared around Carol. It guarded against further attacks as they ring became whiter and whiter.

Until it obscured Carol's lithe figure entirely, and she had disappeared. On the ground though was Raynard's weapon and Carol weapon.

Because Carol left without anyone taking her weapon, it disappeared, but a hobgoblin jumped at Raynard's undead ghoul sword and took it.

The hobgoblin looked at the weapon with greed and satisfaction, although it would most likely give it up to the chief. It would also be given items of high value to compensate for the weapon.

But that did not naturally make the other hobgoblins happy, who looked at the sword with greed as well.

As they were distracted by the sword, the goblins had left as Pektog was dealing with the hobgoblin archer. They had already started to surround the distracted hobgoblins.

I couldn't see it going on, but this was part of my gambit. Normally a goblin has no chance against a hobgoblin.

But if the hobgoblin's become disordered by huge numbers, greed, and a surprise attack wouldn't they be sitting ducks? The most important point would be to keep the leader from inspiring order.

Which is where I come in by beating Dahziekt, although we had to accelerate the plan it would work out fine it seemed.

Pektog was trying to deal with the Ulbrag, but this one was especially adept at agility he was even faster the Pektog. With arrows it meant he couldn't catch Ulbrag, but Ulbrag could keep sending out arrows.

So Pektog changed his tactics, he pushed Ulbrag away from his goblins, and the hobgoblins. The fight was Pektog just dodging various arrows, and cutting down trees with the sword I gave him.

"Pektog. why must you resist Dahziekt?" Ulbrag said

"Because a Goblin's spirit is meant to rest after death, not be tortured for the human's pleasure," Pektog said with determination as he cut down the tree Ulbrag was on.

"You see it wrong Dahziekt, we are immortal here, we can get stronger in here. Do this many hobgoblins appear on the beast continent?" Ulbrag said

"It seems when you became a hobgoblin, you forgot that you were a goblin. Not some power-drunk human, you were a goblin and still are." Pektog said sternly

Ulbrag just sighed in sadness

"It is a shame looks like we just have to kill you again."

He said as he readied another arrow and aimed it at Pektog. His arrow flew at Pektog and Pektog blocked it with his arm, as the arrowhead got stuck in his arm.

But with the arrow out of the way quickly, Pektog abruptly jumped up and cut the tree branch, Ulbrag was on.

Although Ulbrag was fast he wasn't very flexible. He lost his balance and slipped as he fell from the tree. Pektog took advantage of that moment and dissected Ulbrag with his sword.

The sword cut Ulbrag's stomach open as he bled out and collapsed on the ground.

Pektog ripped the arrowhead out of his arm and went to the goblins ambushing the hobgoblins. The hobgoblins had been tense watching each other when they heard Ulbrag scream in pain.

The one that got the sword snapped under pressure and tried to run. But as he tried to escape the other goblins blocked his escape and pinned him.

They cut at him until he dropped the sword and tried to flee into the bushes. Then the other hobgoblins started to fight amongst each other for supremacy over the sword.

They didn't even notice the muffled screams of escaped hobgoblin, as he was mobbed by goblins from above.

Pektog had arrived just in time to see his goblins work efficiently, he had always trained them but to see such improvement was an utter surprise to him.

He felt grateful to Lucas' for his training, and the weapons in that moment. The hobgoblins' combat became more frenzied as they started to lose their reasoning.

But then one goblin with a hand ax cut off the hand of one of them wielding the sword and ran away quickly. The others tried to get at him, but their injuries were much greater.

"Rulgut, you may be strong but the chief will kill you for this." A hobgoblin yelled out

'The chief is having a hard time anyway if he does make it. I'll be a hero for presenting the weapon to him, and fighting off the greedy hobgoblins.' Rulgut thought to himself as he gripped the sword close to his chest.

Rulgut almost successfully fled but Pektog moved, he followed him and sent his goblins to deal with the remaining hobgoblins.

They readied their weapons and approached the weakened hobgoblins. At this point numbers were an edge, not an equalizer, the hobgoblins looked on in fear as they saw the armored goblins.

"Would you goblins dare to attack a hobgoblin?" A hobgoblin with a missing arm said in righteous anger

None of the goblins answered as they ran at the hobgoblins, who were almost unable to move. The hobgoblins resisted at first, smacking away a horde with one hand. But as they were overwhelmed with numbers they crumbled.

The injuries added up and most of the hobgoblins bleed out or were decapitated but the goblins. At this point, it had worked out well only a few losses for goblins, and almost all hobgoblins dead.
