Chapter 5 – Old visions – part 1

Year 607

Articius CrossSpear age 7

Slowly regaining consciousness, I lift myself up and find tubes of water entering my veins, surrounded by countless makeshift beds.

I'm more surprised that this world has any idea of giving water through veins to keep someone hydrated. I realize I'm in a large hut, and towards the entrance, it's labeled "Wave Crest, District 2: Sailwinds Infirmary."

That's right, I think to myself. I passed out, and that random man saved me from dying. I have no idea what really happened afterward.

I try to gauge how long I've been out, but I see no clocks anywhere, and everything is shut in rustic silence. As I go to call out for someone, I get no response, just the eerily creak of broken doors.

Pulling the needle from my arm, stopping the water from dripping into my veins, I notice I'm draped in a white gown, as if coming from a hospital bed in the old world.
