1 Awakening #1

In a distant forest that was located far northeast from Orario which was known as the strongest city in the continent, there was a tribe of beast humans which greatly valued strength above all else.

In the lower world where the gods have descended, there exist the gods and spirits which have eternal lives and cannot reproduce while there exist many races.

There are the humans, amazons, dwarfs, elves, high elves, dark elves, high dark elves, pallum then exist many types of demihuman races with different features based on the type of animal they resemble.

While a lot of races cannot mix with one another and must mate with their own kind to have a child, there are exceptions as a human or amazon can bear a child from the other races.

Each race has their own advantages and disadvantages while one could have a stronger physique and senses from birth while another could have a strong affinity for magic.

Within the forest, a baby girl was born from a captured woman which was able to barely hang on throughout her pregnancy which resulted in the mother dying and the child being labelled as an unlucky child.

In truth, the child was very unlucky as she had been born into an unfavourable situation from birth and she had lost her only support.

Her mother was one of the humans which had been captured after a tribe of leopard demihumans attacked those in the area or passing through.

She was a part of a merchant group and was kept alive and had to suffer many humiliations upon being captured which showed the brutal and cruel nature of the leopard demihuman tribe.

The leopard tribe had a particular ability that let them awaken the deepest and hidden aspects of their personality into a power of their own known by others as a skill or an ability but they struggle to harness their unbridled inner passions so they many had failed to master their own true power.

They all had great power on their own and they were used to using all kinds of underhanded tactics or sneak attacks as a group so they often caused many problems in the area.

They made many enemies as they were constantly warring with others which made the training on the youths even tougher.

The girl was named Mallory which means ill-fated or unfortunate and she did not live a fortunate life as she was constantly bullied and put through difficult training.

As she was a half leopard by blood and a girl who was unfavored by the tribe, she did not possess the same enhanced capabilities to the same level as the other children her own age so she had to train even harder to improve herself.

Her body was not as strong or tough as the others so she had quickly gained a dislike for brutal and close ranged combat so she started to practice with an old sharpened pole which she used as a spear.

It earned her many taunts from her tribe members who valued strength and thought of weapons as nothing but toys or the tools of cowards.

Mallory was able to gradually improve and gain a better mastery over spear arts which she had mainly learned from scratch and through her many battles during the harsh sparring sessions.

Eventually she learned how to hunt and gather for herself but when a monster appeared, she often needed assistance to take them down from the adults who were more experienced.

It was like bad luck kept following her as she was constantly suffering misfortune but she was able to live well and bravely did her best to survive.

It was just another day as she was gathering food for herself but she had journeyed a little further out in search of ingredients.

She took a step and the ground began to collapse around her so she agilely jumped to safety but just as she was safe, a tough and heavy hunting net was overhead and fell onto her which trapped her inside.

Before she could put up any resistance, there were people coming out and they were humans which had dressed in different kinds of camouflage clothing and had used dirt and plants to mask their smell.

They quickly moved as they pointed their blades at Mallory as they were well coordinated and the rest threw a tough looking chain around to the others on the other side as it was soon circled around her and then tightened.

Unable to move, she tried to struggle free and as she knew that it was all hopeless, she recalled the words of the older tribesmen as they said. 'Stop calling for help. We do not want to get caught up in your misfortune anymore, if you have any problems then we will not care about you even if you die next time.'

Her cat ears drooped down as she looked very pitiful and her eyes were full of despair. 'Even if I shout for help, they will not come for me. I mean nothing to them and am nothing but a bringer of misfortune and a burden to the tribe.'

She had been raised to believe that it was the truth but she still tried her best to live on and contribute the best she could but how could a small eleven year old possibly be able to survive on her own.

It was a natural course of events which lead to her being captured due to the leopard tribe making many enemies and the tribe being powerful which meant that not only would those with resentment target those on their own but those looking to capture her to sell as a slave would too.

Mallory was knocked out as a metallic weapon hit her and she was dragged away before she was discovered to be missing.

The sad part was that the tribe did not notice until a week later and they only sent out a small search party to search a small distance away from their tribes homeland.

Some time later, a large party of adventurers who had levelled up through many battles and killing monsters arrived at the village to wipe them out.

After they lost the main bearer of bad luck from all the bad karma the tribe had accumulated, they had to bear the remaining bad karma on their own which they could not survive.

While Mallory experienced bad luck or karma in smaller amounts and sometimes suffered bigger misfortunes, she never suffered something that she could not handle and live through with her own abilities.

She would be wounded many times but she would still be able to heal her wounds as she rarely suffered any major injuries that would endanger her life or cause problems for her everyday life.

Without Mallory there to bear the bad luck in small doses, the tribe suddenly had to survive the calamity that fell on them because of the result of their aggressive and brutal actions in the past.

It was like Mallory was born to take on the misfortune of others and live a life full of constant trials and suffering while everyone around her could live without facing the bad karma they had built up but when she was gone, they had to endure it all on their own.

The leopard demihuman tribe had built up too much bad karma through their many years of committing vile deeds and they were unable to last long without Mallory as they all either died or became slaves for the adventurers.
