Teamwork Once Again

It seemed the Stranger's agility hadn't just risen by a notch, but several notches. He was effectively contesting with the huge deadman in speed.

He crashed into the back of the monster, dealing a sneak attack on its lower body, specifically the back of the knee. Without mana, however, he barely made any damage.

Rin used the brief moment the stranger brought and screwed off from the sight of the monster. The throbbing in his leg calmed down a little, though he was still having trouble putting pressure on it. But he hadn't wasted a moment on the pain to maintain a healthy distance from the monster.

Another thing to note, in the contest between the stranger and the monster, the stranger was effectively good. This level of skill could put him as the cream of the crop of professional players.

Rin wondered why he hadn't heard of him. Well, he didn't follow the gaming circle all that much nowadays, probably that was the reason.

The stranger was battling the monster at a close distance, which was unthinkable for Rin at the moment with his poor attributes. The guy seemed to have recovered much after absorbing the gems. He probably had another useful Attribute awakened to help in that regard.

But that didn't change the fact that he was effectively battling the monstrosity in a one-on-one battle. It seemed he could somewhat predict the moves of the huge undead and move accordingly as if he had dedicated his entire life to battling monstrosities of this kind.

He was easily making two moves when the undead could only make one.

'This guy,' Rin couldn't help but muse, 'he fights like me.'

Honestly, Rin could barely showcase such skills without much practice. With the non-existence Agility attribute, it should have been outright impossible.

The only other person who came close to having a similar fighting style to his was Sophie, one of his old teammates. But she hardly had the quirk of seeing through the patterns. While this guy was clearly reading the monster one step ahead. Maybe even more.

Of course, he wasn't doing much damage, having any mana in his arsenal. That was where Rin came in, joining the fray back again.

"Do you have any effective game plan against this stinky?" Rin asked, putting some pressure off the stranger.

"The plan is to behead it," the guy said through his gasps, "but we have to slow it down first. It has a recovery attribute which made it tenacious, so an approach to a long battle would be a bad idea. Attack its lower body, the joints more specifically, it can't heal them effectively."

"I guess you know your stuff," Rin said with a frown.

"I'll help you in distracting it," the stranger continued. His dagger made a swash against its scaly skin, drawing those disgusting pus out. "You have to do the damage. Shift your body weight. You need to have as much power to capitalise on chances."

Rin had no complaints about that, but he was a bit surprised to find the stranger had already discovered his trick.

Well, it was an effective plan, even though Rin had always been the agiler rogue in the pack. Now he had to act as a heavy warrior who waits for opportunities, while the stranger distracted the monster with his higher agility.

Rin shifted his mana on the mark as his weight shifted. His stomach had nothing left to complain about anymore with everything he was put through in the last few minutes.

Rin took the right side in the back of the undead, ready with his sword point to make a move at any movement. He sneaked behind it as the stranger kept it busy.

Even though the undead hardly left with any cognitive abilities, it had a great awareness of its surroundings, as it screamed at Rin when he came close enough to pose a threat to it.

The stranger pinned his dagger into its calves, getting the chance as Rin rushed at it, clenching his jaws. He put the sword to use, ramming it downwards at the back of its knees. The monster lurched its foot, doing its best to avoid as well as deal a blow.

But Rin wasn't that weightless cobber anymore. With his weight reaching almost twice the original, he used it as momentum to force his sword towards its knee.

The sword pierced into where Rin wanted as mana doing its job of making it easier for him, but that was as far as it went. It still felt like going against a wrecking ball when the impact hit him. Even with his higher weight, Rin has pushed a step.

Rin stepped back, withdrawing his sword. He didn't forget to twist the sword before withdrawing.

"Good," his partner in crime shouted, "keep attacking the same spot. Completely cripple it. It would make the job a lot easier."

Ran gasped, feeling he was barely left with one-third of his mana. He was burning a lot in this heavy-duty work.

The stranger engaged with the beast when Rin withdrew after dealing the blow as if he was waiting for the moment. As Rin had noticed before, the stranger was ingenious in his way of battle. He had changed his direction and only fought from the beast's right, as it had trouble in movement after the injury to its right knee.

The pus had come out, but as the stranger said, it wasn't that effective in healing the joints.

Rin didn't wait ceremoniously and engaged from the back. He wasn't feeling the terrible pressure of battling it alone anymore.

As if getting his cue, the stranger made room for him to make contact. The monster, however, disappointed Rin, as it had done nothing to protect the wounded leg. It came with its savage instinct of destroying anything and actually attacked with the same wounded leg.

Rin was suspicious about this being a trap, but since he found the monster going all out with it, he simply repeated the same move again, sliding off so that no after-effect could hit him.

The sword pinned just next to where it had done before, and this time it was even easier for Rin to pierce through. He shoved, pushing all the mana he could afford to use in this.

Getting his chance, the stranger pinned one of his daggers into its eyes, making the monster struggle in a frenzy. It certainly felt pain.

It rammed its arms manically as if to hit invisible enemies. The stranger dodged them efficiently, while Rin just ducked.

Rin wasn't someone who'd give up after getting his chance to settle the score. He rammed the sword upwards, leading the monster to lose his footing.

Then the stranger originated the little push that needed to make the undead fall. Well, it wasn't little, considering how the lanky stranger had to shove his body against the scaly undead to make it happen.

"This is it," the stranger bellowed. "Don't let it get up. Make it count."

Rin had exactly that on his mind as he withdrew his sword. He pounced at the undead, tightening his grip on the sword. His aim was straight to its girthy neck.

Rin didn't make any ceremonious moves and went straight for the neck to the monster's misfortune. He rammed it right through, bellowing all the way.

The monster joined in the screaming.
