Abomination

Rin charged at the monster, brandishing his sword, and applying as much mana as possible to solidify his Mana Cloak. He was in a weightless state, maximising his speed and agility to evade any blow this monster could throw at him.

It made sense for him to go for agility since even its unimpressive counterparts have similar or higher strength compared with him. Of course, it would outstrip Rin in raw strength, and that too by a long margin.

The Thing seemed to notice his charge as it lifted its head from the meal it was devouring and looked at him with those crimson-burning eyes. The sheer intensity in its eye made him second-guess his purpose.

But when it opened its horrifying maw to scream at him, Rin stopped completely.

He wasn't sure what kind of psychological effect he was having, but Rin wanted nothing but to run away from this monstrosity. His mind filled with overwhelming dopamine, howling at him to run away from this monster.

Rin swallowed his breath as his eyes stared at its horrifying maw. The Deadman's head was already disconcerting, being double the size of what should be right for its size. However, the mouth outstripped the huge head to gain more of his awareness. More of his horror.

The maw contained dozens of long shark teeth decorated circularly as the Deadman could open its mouth as much as to devour his entire head in one bite.

Then there were those disgusting elements. Apart from the terrible stench it was reeking, there seemed to be no shortage of pus in its body, oozing out of its smooth scaly skin.

Noticing that Rin wasn't screaming after its dreadful screech, he lunged into motion and charged at him, enlarging its mouth entirely as if to bite him completely.

Rin cursed himself, but he didn't have time to run away, so instead, he charged at it as well, using all his agility. His mind was filled with fear, which probably led him to make a wrong decision at this moment, but Rin had it with being filled with fear.

He had his sword on the mid-high right, clutched with both of his palms. His heartbeat rose to an overwhelming rate as he grew closer to the monstrosity. There was no time to second guess his intention as Rin lunged up, discovering the monster hammering its claw at him.

Rin screamed as he vaulted over the monster, his sword rammed at its shoulder. The monster missed Rin completely as he flipped over its hammering claw to deal a blow to its right shoulder before Rin flipped to a safe landing.

Rin rolled on the ground to stand back up, but the monster was already facing him, its horrifying body undulating with rage as a whitish grey pus bobbed out from where his sword made contact.

The deadman screeched, it lowered its head to meet his level menacingly and charged at him at a tremendous momentum.

There were only a couple of things Rin could do against such an attack. He took the safer route and lunged to his right, evading the monster. The hungry monster's legs clutched to a brake as it turned to face him.

It didn't waste a moment, and bolted towards Rin with the same intensity as it was devouring the wolves.

The monster came at him lunging, so there wasn't anything Rin could do other than slide under it, his sword making no contact.

Rin was probably dead without the boast he got from absorbing the gems. But even with that, he didn't see himself winning against this monstrosity. He would be in one piece until his mana ran out, dealing a few non-critical blows.

In contrast, the deadman was relentless in its pursuit. Even though it wasn't using mana superficially, it had a limitless source of vitality and power, not even slowing down a little after half a dozen charges.

Moreover, Rin's blows weren't doing anything. The pus that came out from the cut had frozen at an alarming rate. Well, it wasn't a complete healing, but it was definitely making things harder.

Then there was that neck that he was supposed to behead.

Seriously, it had the same girth as Rin's waist. How the fuck did the developer plan for him to deal with this?

This was simply not a monster of his level to deal with.

Or perhaps they simply didn't plan for players to hunt these monsters. Perhaps they were simply some sadist fucks and wanted to see people pissing in their pants before getting devoured by the monstrosity.

Rin could easily see Stephen planning something like this to satiate his twisted mind.

It was a near miracle that Rin hadn't got devoured by the deadman with how much the monster induced fear into his being.

"Oi bloke," Rin yelled at the back where the stranger was in his frustration, "Are you just going to piss off leaving me to deal with this?"

The Stranger Dude was still in the middle of his battle, but only two of his counterparts remained. He had been tracking Rin's approach to the battle since Rin engaged with it.

"You're doing great," the man said in an exhausted tone.

"Mate, you have a very low estimation of great," Rin shot back, flying to dodge the monster. He was barely holding it against it. That ain't great, it was barely passable.

"Just keep it engaged for some time. I'll join you in a breath."

"You better," Rin yelled back. "I swear if I find you running away, I'll find you and I'll kill you. I'll find your entire family, and I'll kill them."

The stranger shot him a peculiar gaze, as if wondering how much of a manic Rin was.

Well, even if this detestable self-proclaimed brother tried to run away, Rin could get back at him easily. It was pretty simple. All he had to do was run after him with the monster on his trail.

Annoyed, Rin decided to block the monster's attack for the first time. When the huge deadman hammered its arm at him, Rin stepped sideways and pushed his sword as a block. He wasn't a complete fool, though, as he kept his body out of the way of the hammering arm.

But even with that, his decision to block the arm was completely wrong. Rin's arm shuddered in a horrifying tremor as electricity flashed through his arm to his whole body. It felt like a thousand-ton hammer coming down on a half-broken anvil.

However, the real danger came after that as the monster lurched its foot in his midsection, with its horrifying momentum. Even with his preparedness, Rin fell short by a little margin.

Before Rin could withdraw, the monster's foot crashed into his lower body, flinging him away a couple of metres.

The monster was simply faster.

Thankfully, he escaped from a critical blow, but he certainly didn't feel like it, with his lower body throbbing in the crashing agony.

Rin breathed in and out rapidly with mechanical efficiency. He rolled back to stand back on, his legs throbbed as he stood back on them, but he had no other way of safely evading the monster.

What pissed him even more was when he found out what the stranger dude was doing. No, he wasn't escaping getting the chance. Instead, he was looting the counterparts and the dead wolves and absorbing the gems he got from them.

With his agility boosting to another notch, he could probably outrun them, exerting all his effort. Thankfully, the fellow didn't seem to be in any mood for escaping alone.

He came to Rin's rescue the moment he needed it the most.
