The platoon arrives

6th Day morning : Haiders house :

Everyone was having breakfast and the girls were giving Bella short glances ,

After having breakfast Haider left hurriedly out of the hall as he knew the reason for their behaviour was his last night's actions .

Bella went into the kitchen to take care if the dishes ,

" How was is last night ?" Jessica asked with Monica standing beside her ,

" What do you mean ?" Bella replied with a red face ,

" Oh we heard it till midnight, I'm sure everyone did , It sure was intense "

Monica said with a laugh which made Bella more embarrassed ,

Meanwhile at the office :

"Hey Captain how's the new base working for you?" Haider asked as he sat infront of the Captain ,

" It's pretty nice with the birds doing more than enough to make us feel secure " Captain replied ,

Then the Captain reported that the platoon will be arriving sooner than expected due to having a change in schedule . Haider nodded and stated that they need to find a non-feral chicken or duck for constant supply of eggs to which the Captain agreed and then they planned to make a trip to a farm that is 3 km west to the base to see if there was anything of use there.

Haider had to cancel his trip to loot for choclates due to the platoon arriving sooner , but Mark was going with the soldiers to loot so he asked him to take extra care of the sweets.

He then left the office towards the workers office that had the head designer sitting inside busy with his work .

" Hey old man, came up with something useful?" Haider said as he entered ,

" Yeah I got a few things ,here see" The head designer replied as he handed over a paper with sketches ,

Haider looked at it and saw a huge crossbow that fired large arrows with flaming heads for larger beasts ,A fully functional fire thrower that could be moved to any side of the base for defence .

" It's too boring show me something more advanced " Haider said with a frown ,

Then the designer handed over to him a small camera attached to a belt that could be used on birds to get Ariel view of a place .

Then he explained the the new modifications of Haiders vehicle that included bullet proof glass and exterior with a gunner dome at the top and The engine was changed to a newer model , A steel net was also added as requested by Haider .It also had now a new heavy V shaped Ram in front of it.

" Hmm it's good, try making a rain storage water system for the base that we can use " Haider requested and left.

He then went to the backyard to see if the parrot's were doing fine ,

'It looks like they've gotten stronger'

Haider thought as ge looked at the birds being bigger and stronger than before,

" Haider didn't you notice that the plant's also have some noticeable changes " Emily said as she was also there relaxing with the birds,

" Now that you mentioned it I also think they have gotten sturdier " Haider said as he looked at the trees there that weren't damaged even the slightest after the intense battles of the birds .

Haider then went towards his room where Pearl and Emerald were resting beside the mysterious egg ,

'From the looks of it ,It's hatching '

Haider thought as he looked at the egg now being cracked all over and also some shell pieces fell down .

Haider then placed more crystals beside it and sat inside the room to see it hatching .

After a while Bella and Monica joined Haider and the egg started shaking , All the birds gathered inside the room and saw it closely .

Finally after glowing and shaking for more than an hour it's shell broke , Everyone saw the sight with curiosity,

*KAAWWWWW*

A sparrow sized baby bird was inside it everyone was curious which species it belong to expect for one person sitting inside the room .

The baby bird looked at Haider and then started to make noises like telling him too feed it .

' Why do I feel like I'm it's father '

Haider thought as he felt some kind of mental connection between him and the newborn baby ,Then he went towards the new born and held it in his hands .The baby bird stopped moving and calmed down ,

On closer look the bird had some kind of light scales instead of feathers and a longer tail with sharp eyes that looked like a snakes its wings were also quite big. It also had some sharp teeth .

'Looks more like a reptile than a bird'

Haider thought ,

" Bring some raw meat and some vegetables mashed " Haider said as he didn't knew what to feed the newborn baby ,

" Hey Monica doesn't it resemble a reptile "

Haider said ,

" It could be some kind of Hybrid species " Monica replied ,

Then they brought the food and he ate meat without any difficulty , Then after filling it's stomach he slept on Haiders lap.

Haider placed him inside the nest again an this time removed all the stones and the egg shell and told Bella to preserve it for later inspection .

Pearl now left the room without any worries about the new born she took care of the past days .Haider thought that she had lost interest after seeing the baby was not a cat .

After a while Pearl came back with a mutated rat in her mouth that had shiny skin and teared it infront of the baby reptile to eat and started licking the baby to clean it, Everyone was shocked to see her behaviour towards the baby .

Haider then left the room as he got the news of the new platoon arriving ,

" Hey Cap what's the story by the way of this unit?" Haider asked as he approached the Captain who was standing on the roof taking a view of the arriving vehicles .

"I don't know for sure but they're a special unit that were found inside a mall at the north of the military base on the fourth day and the settlement had to send the researcher to study the third stage zombies ( Alpha three ) "The Captain replied ,

Haider nodded and after a while the four vehicles arrived but only two were parked inside the house as they didn't had much space to park all of them, The others were parked at the back street where their living quarters were .

There were Three army jeeps and one cargo bus that was carrying the supplies. Haider and Captain went down to greet their guest's . Four people were seen standing and chatting about their journey, They were the two doctors ,a man in his 50s that looked the the researcher and lastly a large bulky man with short hair and sturdy figure that looked like in his 30s it looked like he was leader of the platoon .

"Sargent Nick It's nice to see you"

The Captain greeted them with a smile,

" Oh Captain it's nice to see you too, this is Professor Smith and his two assistants " The Sargent introduced them,

" This is Haider the base leader " The Captain replied,

The Sargent looked at Haider with shock and examined him for a while ,

" Nice to meet you Haider I've seen your reports in the settlement and it helped a lot "

The professor broke the silence ,

Haider gave the Sargent a short glance and then they started to chat about the current affairs and details about the last day horde ,Then the professor stared to questions Haider about his pets and if he could see them and the Alpha three. Haider acepeted his request and took them to the basement where the alpha three was being kept .The professor started to examine alpha three thoroughly and asked Captain that if he could start setting up his laboratory and then tasked his assistant to choose a safe location . Haider then started to question the professor about the crystals .

The professor explained that the crystals were some kind of genetic crystallized material that could amplify the genes of a normal creature to break its genetic limits .

and every living creature was now staring to mutate due to some unusual energy that was now surrounding the Earth,

Then they left the basement and went to the main office, to decide upon the current affairs of they wanted to settle in the base.

After a while :

*Bzzzzz*

The satellite phone started to operate ,

everyone's attention was drawn towards it ,

" Captain were surrounded there's too many of them Send some reinforcement" A loud scarrd voice was heard along with firing of guns ,
