9 Bomber vs Zombies

Mel stood at a 15-meter tall tree. The armor that fitted perfectly at his body camouflage him amidst the endless sight of the forest. It was still early in the morning, he didn't even have breakfast yet he was about to fight a horde of zombies.

Mel looked at his palm as it clasped the small grenade with spikes. The layer of armor-like scales enveloping his body was just like skin—Its defensive capabilities made it much better than skin.

"5 more trees" Mel muttered. He closed his eyes as he watched the zombies in the 3D map. On the radar he could view the entire surface of a 1km radius without any obstacle to his sight, making it far better than his eyesight.

"3 more trees" His muscles tightened and were ready to erupt at any moment.

ROAR

Thousands of zombies suddenly surged from the forest with deranged movements. But as they step into the seemingly solid land, their feet abruptly sunk on the ground. The illusive ground slowly distorted and collapse.

Mel's eyes trembled in excitement as he watched the hundreds of zombies falling into a pit.

The big head zombie following behind noticed it and ordered the horde stopped. But their momentum didn't allow them to, more than half of the horde stumbled and fell.

Their movement looked clumsy as they piled up and continued to drop. Despite the hundreds of zombies filling up the hole, Mel didn't move. That wasn't all.

"Activate," Mel ordered the AI in his battle suit.

Earlier, he had planted over a hundred land mines—that only cost 3 origin points each—in the pit. Every landmine could deal devastating damage.

Boom

The scattered landmines in the hole detonated one after another, the impact felt more than heard as earth and sky shook with each explosion. The hundreds of zombies inside the hole immediately blew into smithereens.

In a split second after the explosion, Mel immediately burst with strength as he consecutively whipped out the cluster grenade towards the zombie leader.

Mel didn't want to underestimate the enemy and attacked without taking a breath. The ongoing explosion didn't affect him at all due to the shock resistance of his battle armor.

The small grenade went straight to the group of zombies who were protecting their leader from the explosion. The zombie leader's expression was hideous from shock. It didn't expect to encounter an ambush in the middle of a forest where only mutated beast operates.

Before the cluster grenade could approach the big-headed zombie, it suddenly shrieked. The zombies around it scrambled to protect the zombie, creating a meat barrier in an instant.

Another round of continuous explosions sounded. As the zombie barrier lessens with each grenade Mel has thrown.

Mel didn't stop, he created more grenade as he consumed. He didn't need to do anything that hinders his movement when producing an item. One thought and the system would automatically deliver his creations in the inventory—in the prerequisite that he has enough origin points.

After throwing 20 or so cluster grenades, Mel stopped his eyes still closed as he focused on the map. Countless corpses littered the ground. Small cavities formed as smoke rise from them. It was an unholy mess.

He furrowed his eyebrows, he couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the big-headed zombie and its 4 other bodyguards. Earlier he managed to kill a buff zombie by blowing its head.

[Ding! Grade 3 Muscle Zombie killed. +100 origin points.] [+1 Soul]

Mel calmed down and focus his mind. In the hole were scattered body parts, he could barely recognize the shape of the body parts. On the surface before the hole was corpses stacked on each other. It was the meat barrier formed by the zombie, it stacked more as he had killed. Before the zombies die, they would grab hold of another, thus they formed a mountain.

'Underneath?' Mel thought. The zombie leader and the other must be covering themselves with the bodies.

Mel threw another three cluster grenades. The grenade landed at the bottom part of the corpse mountain, it blasted the corpses that later flew to the air.

Nothing. There wasn't anything in the center but just another pile of immobile corpses. Mel threw another cluster as he started getting suspicious.

When the grenade detonated, he suddenly felt cold on his feet. Mel didn't look down and jump to the side immediately. The cold sensation was the effect of the battle suit's [Combat Sense], it was similar to spider man's spider sense. It allows him to predict danger by a millisecond.

Mel stumbled at the ground, he didn't have time to think where he would land. Mel rolled as he quickly stood and looked up.

At the branch he was previously standing was perfectly cut into three. As if it was slice by a high-powered laser.

He shifted his gaze and saw a zombie with kangaroo legs on another branch. Its black eyes stared at him coldly.

Mel's heart thump loudly, he was calm outside but he was slightly panicking in his mind. He knew that he fucked up. Despite his well-thought ambush he still underestimated the opponent. He saw that under the pile of zombie were a hole. They had dug the earth to escape.

He suddenly felt a tremor in the ground, he jumped again as he dropped 2 cluster grenades.

A large hand emerges from the ground, its huge force clashed and triggered the cluster grenades. A burst of bright light blinded Mel as he positioned himself on top of a tree.

"You can't me expect to fall for your tricks a second time" Mel muttered.

Seconds later, the smoke subsided, In the crater, he saw a muscle zombie lying limp and amputated. Its right arm was gone, its head was burned in half.

Mel immediately summoned his crossbow and fired a shot. He didn't miss the chance to finish one of the unusually strong zombies.

The bolt covered in flames tore through the air as it left ash residue. The head of the immobile zombie instantly exploded.

Seeing the muscle zombie died a gruesome death, Mel fired a consecutive shot towards the zombie with kangaroo legs. But it quickly turned into a shadow and disappeared from its spot.

This time, Mell was able to follow its brisk movement. The zombie with kangaroo legs or what he likes to call 'zombieroo'—a funny yet convenient name—has a short burst of speed, with every step it took a huge force would push it faster than its shadow could follow.

It was so fast that he could barely keep up despite his body being enhanced by the Grade 3 battle suit. (His enhancement is an overall enhancement, hence his eyesight is also of that of a grade 3 mutant)

Mel fired multiple shots towards the zombieroo scrambling around him. But a second later, he suddenly felt a cold sensation from his back. It was a similar feeling he had when the zombieroo attack him.

Mel didn't dodge, he gathered the cluster bomb he made earlier and flung them at his rear. Dozens of spiked grenades dance in the air as they formed a net of explosives that would explode upon contact.

Mel saw the opponent clearly, and the sight of it made him cold. It wasn't a zombie like what he thought. It was the branch that the zombieroo had sliced earlier.

In the corner of his eyes, he saw a muscle zombie, grinning at him like a devil. It was holding a piece of wood on its other arm.

The cluster grenades exploded, it blew the branch that was as big as a person.

At the same time, he felt it again, a cold sensation growing on his head. Time seems to stop as he saw a silhouette looming behind him. Mel couldn't block or dodge, his body was still wide open from throwing the cluster grenades.

'sh*t' Mel cursed subconsciously.

It was the other zombieroo who managed to close up on him. Its arms equipped with sharp claws were held up, ready to shred his neck.
