Zombie Horde

Early in the morning, in his snow-white king-size bed. Mel stared intently at the empty air with an exasperated expression.

The sudden system prompt awoke him from his dreams. He was just about to kiss Alice the school goddess in his school!

"So this is your new gimmick huh," Mel said. His eyes are still drowsy.

Mel stood up and stretch his arm as he yawned. Moving toward the bathroom, Mel said with a straight face. "Thanks"

[.....]

"What's with the dots. I can see it you know? Are you embarrassed perhaps?"

[Shut up]

'Tsundere System... huh' Mel silently thought while brushing his teeth with a futuristic toothbrush. It has a metallic glint and has glowing lights inside, making it looked more like a sci-fi laser weapon.

[Ding! Random Mission: Brush your teeth within half a minute.

Note: It needs to be squeaky clean.]

"Fck" Mel yanked his toothbrush and brush his teeth as if life his depends on it.

[Ding! Random Mission Completed. +100 OP(Origin Points)]

"You don't feel like a system at all" Mel complained. He felt his gums crying from pained.

The system has a twisted personality. It's nothing like a normal system at all. It was more like a high school girl than a godly system.

After the nerve-wracking tooth brushing, Mel scrolled through the Mall, trying to figure out what he should buy next.

The first list of items that appeared was cheaper blueprints and their materials are what he already has. It was just some useless junk that emerged in his first minute of scrolling. Mutated Chicken Feather Folding Fan. Advanced Comfortable Pillow. Feathered T-shirt. Chicken Bone Dagger and such continued to appear in the panel for one minute. It was a blueprint related to the Feathers and Bone of the chicken leader he had collected yesterday.

After the chicken list, Mel's eyes lit up. It was finally some good stuff. The blueprint of the carcasses of the snake he had collected earlier showed up. And the products certainly didn't disappoint him.

"Ohhhh" Mel's eyes sparkled as he saw the design and function of the battle armor.

He had been addicted to wearing battle armor since he had fought the Grade 3 Gigantic Snake. It has versatile abilities and can strengthen his fragile body. The battle armor in front of him was even better than before.

Mel hesitated for a bit before finally buying the blueprint. It may be expensive but it was worth it. Not to mention he only require a few points to buy the remaining materials for the battle armor.

[Ding! Grade 3 Serpent Battle Armor Origin Blueprint +1.]

[Ding! Grade 3 Serpent Battle Armor Created.]

[-200 OP]

[Origin Points: 432]

The there digit origin points pained him a little bit. But he eventually steeled his heart and strengthen his determination.

'Although my weapon is still a grade 2 magic weapon, having an armor improves my survival rate. A strong defense is a strong offense.' Mel convinced himself as he wore the tight armor. It has a translucent color. Sturdy snake scales shrouded the battle armor.

Similar to his previous armor, it also covered his whole body. Leaving no gap to the enemy to exploit.

Its design was similar to that of a Motorcycle Riding Gear Full Body Armor, including the helmet and gloves, he looked like a motorcycle rider.

Mel fiddled the right side of his helmet. Every move of his fingers, the images in the screen-like-glasses in his helmet change. It was showing the status of his body and then the map of the area.

"Alright the Electromagnetic Radar was attached successfully" Mel slightly raise his voice in excitement.

A 3D map was showing in front of him like an AR camera. It was much more detailed and realistic than the wristwatch. Mel nodded at his decision to bind the Electromagnetic Radar Wristwatch to the Battle Armor. He didn't need to bother looking at his wrist everytime.

Looking at the map, there was obviously no signs of zombie in the 1km radius. It was just some occasional mutated beast fighting for survival, but it was far from his location.

Mel went outside, beside him was a cute robot making beeping noises. Because of the radar in his helmet Mel didn't need to survey the surroundings so intently like before.

"Beep let's do some carpentry" Mel said.

"Bweerpp!" The robot replied innocently, without ever knowing the hard labor it would do.

Thus, a man wearing a motorcycle gear with a cute robot in his hands, race through the forest.

-----------------------------

A few moments later, they arrived at a slightly spacious area. In a place full of trees, it was very conspicuous. It was like a bald spot on a perfectly healthy hair.

"Beep dig a wide deep hole in the center" Mel ordered.

"Beep!"

The robot started digging a hole. Two of its arms held a high tech drill. In just 10 minutes it already dug a 4 meter deep hole. It covered the whole area without trees.

"Then decorate it with illusion blanket" Mel grabbed a large blanket, it was very ordinary looking.

Moments later the area looked just like before he came. If someone came here they would definitely not notice any abnormality.

"5 minutes left"

Sitting in the branch of the tree, Mel frown inside his armor while the cute robot was resting at his crouch. It has already been 25 minutes since the system initiated the quest, and there are still no signs of zombies on the map. He was 1 km away from his house, which means he has a sight 2 km ahead of his house.

He could think of three possibilities. First, the zombie horde may have change direction. Second, the zombie horde may have encountered something on the way causing them to delay or stop or maybe be eliminated. Third, since there is still no sign of them in the 1km radius and they need 30 minutes to arrive at the perimeter of his shelter, they should be traveling at an incredible rate.

The first two didn't worry him, at most his effort would be wasted. But the third possibility was very dangerous. If they are moving at a fast rate that would mean the horde's strength couldn't be taken lightly.

Mel was pretty sure that the weakest zombie in the horde would only be grade 2. And worst, it would be much stronger.

As he speculated about his plans, the radar suddenly made a sound. Indicating that there's a foreign creature that entered the radar's scope.

Mel quickly checked the 3D map and became dumbfounded.

'This is small?!'

He was briefly stunned by the sight on the map. Thousands of zombies were running towards him at an incredible speed. It was no slower than the Grade 2 Mutated Chickens he has encountered.

In the center of the horde was a zombie with a slightly bigger head than the rest. If it wasn't for the striking appearance of the zombie around it, Mel wouldn't notice the zombie.

It looked very normal, but every move of it was in the flow with the horde. As if it was controlling the movement of the thousands of zombies. Mel also notices their intelligent and cunning eyes.

The scary-looking zombies around it had tap different kinds of appearance. Three of them had larger bodies, their muscles were ripped. Its skin was grey and wasn't rotten like the rest of the zombies. If it wasn't for its canine tooth and grey skin then it would look just like a human being.

The other type of zombie was 2 heads smaller than the buff zombies. It has a leaner body and visible sharp claws in its arms. But what creeps Mel out, was its face—it doesn't have one. It didn't have an eye, nose, hair, and mouth. Only a large ear at its head. Mel guesses that the two strange zombies were a speed type base on how their legs formed. It was curved similar to a kangaroo.

Watching the army of undead, Mel didn't notice that his back was drenched with cold sweat.

ROAR

The entire forest shook, birds flapped their wings crazily as they escape from the bloody atmosphere in the forest.

Mel looked at the trees not far away from him. The thought of retreating didn't cross his mind at all. He was confident, maybe arrogant, or just ignorant. The thousands of zombies surprisingly didn't scare him. He was just slightly uncomfortable on their appearance.

Mel stood up and stored the confused robot in the inventory. After stretching for a bit, he looked ahead and saw trees shaking. He didn't need the radar map to know the location of the zombie horde.

Taking a final glance at the system panel, dozens of little orbs appeared in his arm. It had metals protruding around its body.

It was the disastrous cluster grenade.
