Common Ground

"Willis, can you come over here for a second?" asked Hunter as he smiled.

"Sure of course Hunter" replied the rogue name Willis as he came happily to where Hunter was standing.

"So, what's up?" asked Willis

"I should be the one asking you that question" said Hunter as he maintained his smile.

"What do you mean Hunter??" asked Willis.

"Who told you to tell Bruce about me seeing that witch girl?" asked Hunter with the smile still on his face but his voice was chilling.

"Ummm, Hunter about that well.." said Willis as he could sense the chilliness in Hunter's tone, he was in serious trouble.

"Ahhh well, Bruce was asking why you were taking so long…" said Willis

"And I just told him that I saw you with a with girl that's all" said Willis as he tried his best to explain to Hunter, before things got out of hand.

"Hmm I see" said Hunter as he smile dropped from his face.

"But tell me why you had to just open your big mouth and put me into trouble" said Hunter as he pounded his fist.

"I am sorry Hunter, it will not happen again" said Willis as he knew that Hunter's moods have been more violent lately.

"It better not" said Hunter.

"Oh and one more thing" said Hunter as he moved closer.

"Don't you ever say a word about what I do, to Bruce, Am I clear??" said Hunter

"Yes Hunter, very clear" said Willis

"Good" said Hunter as without warning he gave Willis a mighty punch to the abdomen, which made him fall down to the ground with a thud.

"That was a warning shot" said Hunter as he walked away.

Willis clutched his abdomen, call it an intuition but he had expected that Hunter would punch him, Willis stood up and coughed, Hunter really did not go easy on him, that was a very powerful punch, to a very sensitive area.

Was It only Willis, or did it seem like the rogues had gotten even more violent without Liam around, they were all much more aggressive, Liam used to make everyone laugh, he was a practical joker, and he always raised the hopes of the other rogues.

Now with Liam gone, all the rogues were more or less more fierce and Hunter was the worst of them all, it seemed like he took every opportunity just to fight for no absolute reason at all, it was concerning the way his behaviour has suddenly changed.

Willis sighed, he would have reported this unfair behaviour of Hunter's to Bruce, but he would rather not cause any more problems for himself, in fact the reason Hunter even punched him was because he told Bruce what he saw Hunter doing, so being quiet was the only reasonable choice right now.

"What happened to you?" asked Luk as he caught sight of Willis who looked roughed up.

"Nothing" said Willis as he walked away, he knew that of he told this blabbermouth Luk, his situation would be even worse.

Meanwhile in Nia's room.

Nia was pacing back and forth in her room, she had finally made an important decision, she realized that she was going to have to end this so called friendship that she had with Hunter… Yes, she had to do it, being friends with a vampire, and a rogue for that matter was extremely dangerous.

And also to tell the truth, she did not trust him one bit, from his clear red eyes, to his pretty hair and his sweet smile, it all just seemed TOO much for Nia, she was sure that he had an ulterior motive, she knew he did!

And yet instead of her distancing herself from him, she was so weak and nice that she kept on brining them closer, she wondered what came upon her when she asked if he was coming with her to the cafeteria?? Was she crazy or what??

She sounded like she enjoyed his company, when in reality she did not, what exactly were they even going to talk about??everything was just always very awkward when they met, and not to even talk about the gossiping stares of everyone in the camp who was present at that time.

Nia face-palmed, she was so dumb, and with her stupid question, Hunter said that he was going to make it up to her???

Oh no way, she had to end this right now, who knew if he was just using her to suck her blood, or even worse??

"Yes Nia, I have to end this now" she said as she reassured herself, she looked very serious, and she walked out the door of her room, ready to go face Hunter right now.

"Wait a minute, where am I even going??" asked Nia as she realized how stupid she looked right now, for one where was she going to find Hunter?? She did not know where the guy was half of the time, and it was only when he was looking for her that they met.

"I don't even know where he is??" she said to herself as she sighed, she gingered herself up for nothing.

"Hey Nia" called out Hunter to Nia's surprise.

"Eeek" said Nia as she jumped in fright, Hunter sure had many ways if startling her, whenever he was near, he always caught her off guard.

"Oh Hi" said Nia as she quickly composed herself, she had to go on with her plan, and break this thing before it broke her.

"Were you looking for me?" asked Hunter as he winked.

"Ahhh No no, I was looking for a friend" said Nia as she lied, she had no other friends, but she did not want to give him the sweet satisfaction of know that she was looking for him.

"Okay I see" said Hunter

"Yes" said Nia

"Umm I need to talk to you" said Nia as she decided to say something now, before she would not be able to again.

She was lucky that it was lunch time, and everyone was more or less eating in the cafeteria, so she did not have to worry about anyone seeing the both of the together.

"Okay" said Hunter

"But first, I have something for you" said Hunter as he stepped forward.

"Oooh??" asked Nia as she wondered what it was.

"Here, I got you lunch" said Hunter as he handed Nia a paper packaged container.

"Oh??" asked Nia as she did not expect this at all.

"It seems like you always forget to eat, and we always meet at the cafeteria, so I decided to get you something" said Hunter as he smiled.

"Umm..." said Nia as she did not know what to say?? This was all just so unexpected and surprising.

"Thank you" she said as she looked at him, and managed to say something.

Ughh why did he have to do this now?? he should not have got her food, thought Nia to herself, because now she felt bad for trying to end their friendship.

"What are friends for?" said Hunter as he smiled, it almost made Nia smile.

Friends?? to tell the truth she did not think that friends got each other food, or did they?? she would not know, she had never had friends before.

"Hmm, I have been thinking, and I noticed that you do not like it when other people see us together" said Hunter

"Oh Umm, it's not like that..." said Nia as she tried to deny it.

"Oh really?? it isn't?" asked Hunter

"Okay... it is" said Nia as she sighed.

"Why don't you like others seeing us together? Are you afraid of me, or are you ashamed of me??" asked Hunter as he went straight to the point.

"No it's not that at all" said Nia as she looked at Hunter.

"Well then what is it?" asked Hunter.

"It's because, you know... I am a witch and you are a vampire" said Nia as she looked down.

"Oh well, that doesn't matter, I do not care about that at all" said Hunter.

"Well I do" said Nia to herself.

"You do not need to care either, people can say whatever they want to, we are friends after all right?" asked Hunter.

"Yes we are" said Nia as she looked up and Hunter smiled.

"Okay, so when are you free??" asked Hunter.

"Huh??" asked Nia as this question was asked out of the blue.

"When will you be free?" asked Hunter again.

"Ahh well, I have a break in two days" said Nia as she internally face-palmed herself, what the heck was she saying??

"Okay, perfect" said Hunter as he suddenly looked excited.

"I will come pick you up in two days, I have a surprise for you" said Hunter as he smiled.

"Umm okay??" said Nia as she did not know what was going on.

"Great!, See you then" said Hunter as he smiled and ran away like an overexcited child.

"Ummm okay?? see you?" said Nia as she was still as confused as confused could be.

Well at least she didn't have to go to the cafeteria today, thought Nia as she looked down at the food Hunter brought her.

Two days later.

The Moon was shining it was quarter to midnight, most witches were sleeping, and was Nia.

Nia was sleeping peacefully without a care in the world, it was only in her sleep that she could get rest and peace from everything Selene has been putting her through.

She looked very happy and calm, that was until she heard some moving from outside her room, Nia was not a deep sleeper, she could easily be woken up by things happening around her, and this was no exception.

Nia's brows furrowed as she heard rustling sounds outside her room, she found it annoying and she stood up as she sighed, to go and check what was going on outside.

She opened her door and stepped out, and she was startled by who she saw, standing outside her door.

"Hunter??" said Nia in disbelief.

"Oh Hey Nia" said Hunter as he smiled.

"What are you doing here??" asked Nia as she just had to ask, it was the middle of the night.

"Remember when I said that I had a surprise for you?" asked Hunter

"Yess??" said Nia as she did not know what that had to do with him snooping around her room in the servants quarters at this time of the night.

"Well I have it right now, so let's go" said Hunter

"Are you serious?? You must be joking??" asked Nia as she did not raise her voice, since other witches were sleeping.

"No I am not, so let's go" said Hunter as he held her hand.

"Gosh" said Nia as she did not want a scene right now.

"Okay wait" she said as she sighed.

"Let me get my cloak" she said as her hair was a mess and she was wearing her nightwear, which was a spaghetti strap floral top and pants.

"Okay then" said Hunter as he let go of her hand.

Nia grabbed her black cloak and she wore it immediately and followed after Hunter.

She had never in her life ever imagined that she would be sneaking out with anyone, not to eve talk about a vampire.

"Wait, wait where are we going??" asked Nia as she whispered when she noticed that they were going to the camp gate.

"We are going out of the camp" said Hunter

"No wait how?? we will get caught by those on night watch" whispered Nia again.

"Don't worry, I am the one on night watch" said Hunter

"And everywhere is peaceful, nothing serious ever really happens, so I can sneak out just for tonight" said Hunter as he looked back and winked at Nia who was in disbelief.

She was sure that she was going to regret this, and it was no joke, just what in the world was she getting herself into by being involved with this guy??

"Okay well that takes care of that" said Hunter as they had successfully walked out of the camp.

"Now where exactly are we going??" asked Nia

"Up there" said Hunter as he pointed up to the tip of the mountain that the camp was situated below.

"No way" said Nia

"It's safe trust me" said Hunter

"No, because how will we even get up there??" asked Nia

"Hold on" said Hunter as he carried Nia without warning and he went leaping into the air.

"Ahhhhh" screamed Nia as she closed her eyes, the feeling of jumping and falling made her afraid, she even held Hunter closer because she was so scared, remind her never to go anywhere with this guy.

Luckily for Nia, the camp had a sound proof barrier, so no matter how much she screamed no one would hear her from inside the camp.

"Ahhhhh" said Nia as she continued to scream.

"Umm Nia, we are here" said Hunter as Nia was still holding on to him for dear life.

Nia, opened her eyes and she peeked through, they had actually landed safety???

"Don't you ever do something like this to me again" said Nia as she literally pushed herself out of his arms, and she hit him.

Hunter laughed, this was the first time he had seen Nia act aggressive towards him, it was actually cute, the way she thought hitting him actually hurt.

"Your screams were hilarious" said Hunter as he laughed, and Nia glared at him.

"Okay okay, I'm sorry, I will warn you next time" said Hunter as he laughed.

"Oh no way, who told you that there is a next time?? this is the first and only time" said Nia as she immediately refuted Hunter, which made him chuckle.

"Alright then" he said with a smile.

"But look over there" said Hunter as he pointed, and Nia turned to see what he was talking about.

Nia saw a cloth laid on the floor, with food laid out on it, was this a picnic??? a midnight one for that matter.

"Surprise" said Hunter as he smiled which left Nia totally suprised.

"We will be all alone up here" said Hunter as he walked and sat down.

"Aren't you going to sit?" he asked

"Umm okay??" said Nia as she carefully sat down like there was a trap waiting for her somewhere, this just seemed way too nice to be true.

"What is it?? You are acting like this is your first picnic??" said Hunter as he laughed.

"It is" replied Nia, which made him stop laughing.

"Oh well then, we will make it your best" said Hunter as he smiled and passed her some food.

"Thank you" said Nia.

After eating all the food, in basically pure silence, Nia and Hunter laid down on the picnic cloth and both stared into the shining starred sky, they both just gazed at the stars in silence.

"Don't you wish that you could be as free as those stars above?" asked Hunter as he kept his eyes above.

"Everyday" replied Nia.

"Oh really??" asked Hunter

"I never thought that you would ever think like that, you seem very happy" said Hunter

"Ha, happy is far from the way my life is" said Nia, if there was someone who suffered in this world, it would be her.

"I can relate" replied Hunter.

"And things are even worse with that woman Selene who is out to make my life a living nightmare" said Nia

"You also hate that woman?" asked Hunter

"Who doesn't" replied Nia with a snicker.

"She killed my boss Liam" said Hunter angrily.

"She killed Milady" said Nia and they both turned to look at each other and they both smiled.

This was the first time that Hunter had seen Nia smile, she looked very pretty when she smiled.

"It seems that we both have common ground, and a common enemy" said Hunter with a smile.

"It seems that we do" said Nia, as she found it funny that the most unreasonable things could bring different people together.
